I hope this really hurts on Apple business. The price increase in Europe is INSANE! You can’t justify a 200€ difference.
In Portugal the regular iPhone 14 costs 1039€ and the 14 Pro Max starts at 1499€!! It’s ridiculous.
People can’t afford this! Even who has always been an Apple fan is not able to buy it now. It’s just too much. The solution? To buy iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 with really good discount pricing on selected stores.
So buy an android. That’s how to really stick it to apple.

[…]etc.) its all the same while Samsung phones for example actually stand out but too bad those cannot run iOS. Would be an instant buy otherwise. Btw where were people lining up to check out the Flip
And what is the differentiator between these Samsung models? I’d rather them look the same and function differently then look different and do the same thing.

Maybe they should start taking a year off for the hardware and software. They don't release new iPads every year anymore, or MacBooks. They don't have to release a new phone every September. Likewise for software - we don't need a new release every year. Move to rolling releases or just do major releases every few years like they used to.

we can talk about this until we all turn blue and it won't make a difference to Apple. All they have to worry about is the tsunami of money going into their bank accounts.... it is very difficult to manage money. making money is easy by comparison.(at least for Apple)

I can't believe how many forum members are still making the case for the iPhone Mini Pro in this thread. Such a device would have sold even worse than the failed iPhone Mini.

As for this story, I think the iPhone 14 sales will be hurt by the iPhone 13 being available at $100 less. They are very similar phones and people will try to save money if the differences are minimal.

As for the iPhone 14 Plus, the availability of 10.7 is playing a factor no doubt. Do people really feel the need to pre-order a phone like this that won't be shipping for almost a month? I doubt it. If the 14 Plus was available on 9.16 it would have much stronger pre-order sales. I expect it to do just fine once 10.7 hits.

Kuo even posted a story recently that he expected stronger Pro model pre-order sales to begin with. So this should be of no surprise. The Pro models this year offer significant upgrades to the camera, AOD, and dynamic island. It makes sense that there will be more demand for these exciting new features versus the iPhone 14 non-Pro line.

The headline is pure PR nonsense. People are not buying the phones, because Apple got too greedy and finally pushed the prices too high.

Here in Norway, we've seen multiple price hikes over the last 10 years or so. Apple products went from being fairly reasonably priced and accessible, to becoming overly expensive. I've basically stopped upgrading my Apple stuff, to get the latest and best performance, and now keep my Apple products as long as I can.

Apple obviously thinks that people will still buy their stuff, even when overpriced - WRONG.

For every price hike the excuse is the same "weak currencies in Europe" or "strong US dollar". However, every time the currencies balance out, Apple never lowers the price again. Instead, they keep increasing the prices again and again.

I'm so close to being done with Apple at this point.

China has exchange rate issue too but Apple increases $0 in China this year. Apple increases price in countries just because they think you will pay for it no matter how greedy they are.

But that’s it. The iPhone doesn’t function differently. iOS is getting a little boring and there is still no pen support on the Max for instance …

I only tried the Galaxy Fold at the store but it’s cool how you can fold it half way and it basically turns into a laptop

It all boils down to marketing. The average customer will make their judgment based on name rather than performance. The 14 is already poisoned out the gate because because of that. Someone should have known better then to sign off on this. If the standard 14 lineup fails it will be of their own doing.
It’s interesting that many seemed to have figured out apples failings one day after launch. If there is anything people should have learned is, don’t bet against apple.

Apple imo has extensive market research and pivots as necessary. (Eg iPhone 6)

Hardware sales drive adoption of the latest version of iOS. Dynamic Island, as an example, is specific to iOS 16 and the pro line up. 'Taking a year off' would not align with this strategy, would decrease sales and revenue, would/could decrease the rate at which the iOS install base is growing and would overall be a poor strategic decision.

We’ll yes it does. If you take the features across models there is a difference. It’s like saying windows 10 doesn’t function differently from windows 7 and is getting boring.

Basically an android with a folded left screen. So what? Point being, we all have our opinions.

Well fold build quality is horrible, welcome to Google it. I would never buy Samsung stuff again because they are super in marketing and outlook design but build quality is the worst.
