Periscope tele and USB-c will get me to upgrade from my 13PM, whatever the name might be, though having an iPhone Ultra matching my AW Ultra would be nice :)

Apple needs to consider regular iPhone 14/15 models for the Spring event. No point introducing them during Fall Event. The Pro model steals the thunder.
That assumes Apple views the shift of demand to higher price-higher profit margin iPhones as a failure. I think given the macro environment (inflation, interest rates, possible recessions, war affecting a major market), Tim might not be too bothered. Plus Apple is still using a fashion industry strategy (even though Ive and Ahrendts are gone) where haute couture/Pro-Max-Ultra designs are used to drive sales of ready-to-wear/non Pro-Max-Ultra merchandise. Disconnecting the launches would make it harder for the "regular" iPhones to grab onto the coattails of the high end phones.

Could it be? In 2023, we may see...
  1. iPhone 15 Pro
  2. iPhone 15 Pro Max
  3. iPhone 15 Ultra

Plus iPhone 15 and 15 plus…seems like too many models.

Better to just have an iPhone 15/ 15 Pro versions in the smaller size, and then a iPhone 15 Ultra with more features/ larger screen.

There used to be further differentiation between the max and non max, or plus and non plus, whatever it was called back then. I’m sure someone here remembers the details.

Of Apple's top 3 device categories, iPhone, iPad, and Mac, iPad is the slowest performing one.

It is plausible to assume that to a vast majority of Pro Max buyers, their phone is iPad nano. Pro Max's screen is slightly more than half the size of iPad mini's, but with superior OLED.

I think Apple should embrace this and add bring more iPad features to Pro Max (or Ultra?) -- Apple Pencil and split screen multitasking to name a few.

I think moving away from the Non Pro and Pro version might be the best idea. Just have the iPhone 15 and iPhone Ultra. Go back to, to 2 phone offerings.

So, I will take the 15 Ultra, I got a MAX a few years ago....might have been a X, for me it was just too big, but it had the better camera (optical image stabilization)

how about just an iPhone 15 Mini, iPhone 15 und 15 Max. All coming with the pro features.

Do they all have to have the same battery life too? Some features just cant work on smaller phones, would you rather they dont exist on the bigger ones? Bigger phone provides more because it can fit more componets its not really that hard to get.

As far as I understand it:

The 6 Plus and 6S Plus both had optical image stabilization, which was lacking in the 6 and 6S. The 7 Plus and 8 Plus had more RAM and a telephoto lens which were lacking in the 7 and 8.

The XS Max and 11 Pro Max did not have any additional features. Then the 12 Pro Max once again had image stabilization lacking in the 12 Pro, as well as a larger sensor, and improved telephoto camera.

The 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max have no additional features. So the history of this has really been mixed.

Please don’t. I want all the new features but don’t want to carry a tablet sized phone in my pocket. I don’t see what’s wrong with how they did it with the 14 pro. It’s the same phone and you get all the features. The only decision you have to make is if you want the bigger screen or smaller one.

Didn't they do this once before? There was a slight difference in the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max cameras. While I think that was specifically about physical limitations, I don't think they will go back to this.

The different sizes is more a preference about what you feel comfortable using. If there was a different feature set in the 15 Pro Max vs the 15 Pro, I would simply keep my current phone for longer. Especially since the features for the higher end model will eventually trickle down into the other models.

Good god, just stop forcing me to buy a larger phone than I want to get all the features! The Pro Max doesn't easily fit in normal pockets and is an ergonomic pain to use. I don't want to feel like I'm carting around an iPad Mini.

If it's differentiated anymore than the camera and battery (which is understandable due to size constraints) then I'm going to be livid. Already incredibly tired of iPhones getting bigger and bigger every year now.

Makes sense from a purely business POV to take your best-selling flagship model and increase its ASP while also hoping your other customers upgrade just for the exclusive features.

But from a customer / “best product” POV that Apple always claims to strive for, this sucks.

For all intents and purposes, the base 14 is basically the base 13 so better to just get the base 13.

Apple should just streamline the iPhone, something like:
iPhone 15 Mini
iPhone 15
iPhone 15 Ultra
iPhone 15 Extreme [7"] 😅🤣

The entire 15 iPhone line has the ProMotion feature so Pro for all models.

Apple could also create an iPhone 15 [Pro] mini in limited production for those that still want a smaller device. But battery life probably won't be as good unless Apple expands the size to accommodate a bigger battery which defeats the purpose of the mini's size.

It's ironic & funny that some years back, people were shocked by the Plus models (6s, 7 & 8) in that it was considered huge at that time, considering it was competing against other phablets, like the large Samsung Note models. Now, lots of people want the larger iPhone Max model.

Having upgraded from the 8 Plus to 13 Pro was good as it fits in my pockets, though I miss the extra screen so may upgrade to the iPhone 15 Max/Ultra, or whatever it's called, next year. The larger screen is meant primarily for my aging eyes not for gaming or much viewing of media content like movies.

Apple needs to slow down and focus on its iOS quality control issues and keeps the prices low enough. Otherwise, upgrading won't happen until the 16/17 models unless there's a good upgrade trade-in price for the bigger 15 model.
