if this is true then its a day 1 buy for me. The rumor SE looks amazing and will be a great upgrade while I wait for the expensive iphones to deal with that ugly notch.

I want a phone that is thin and small which also maximizes screen space.

Tried the iPhoneX and thought it was too thick, heavy, and big. Everybody except Apple seems to know what to create here...small size like SE, screen like X. Doesn’t have to be super cheap; make it mid-ranges and let cheapo ppl buy the iPhone8.

If they come out with some dumb iPhone8 repackaging I’ll be holding on to my iPhone7 for a bit longer then I guess. I used to be able to count to Apple to be obsessed with thin and light designs...everything after the 7 got fat and heavy.

i am advocating for this SE sized full screen iPhone since ages.

Apple wasted tons of money to shrink a keyboard that goes in a backpack anyways and no effort into something that goes in my pocket.
C‘mon apple.

I updated my daughters SE to iOS 13 the other day. How any adult would want that to be their main phone is beyond me. Now we'll transition from the tiny phone gang bemoaning no SE2 to bemoaning that SE2 is too big.

You guys are H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I am still on a two phones combo: 6s and SE

I travel a lot and I use small phones.

If it ain't tiny, it ain't an SE. It should be Small Edition. I'd get one...if it were small.
To be clear, some analyst guy is calling it the SE2. We have no indication that Apple will call it the SE2. It's not the phone you want, but Apple never said it was (blame the analyst guy for giving you wildly incorrect expectations).

What it is, is an iPhone 8 replacement for the lower rung of the lineup, but with all new bits inside. And it will sell like crazy into the market segment they were aiming at. Unfortunately that isn't you.

I would like to see them do a 5/5s sized iPhone, because there is a (different) market segment out there who would love that - personally, I prefer the 8/11pro size, but I have relatives who would love a modern 5/5s sized iPhone.

I wonder if this new iPhone will also feature the iPhone 11's U1-chip including the 'ultrawide-band'-technology so it is also ready for Apple's rumoured tracker, any thoughts?

What is the point of relaunching the iPad 7th generation with an A10 again?

Probably because it will be upgraded next year and they bumped it to 3GB to tide it over for a year. I don't expect them to be selling the iPad 10.2 in 3 years like I expect this SE2 to be sold for.

Unlikely, considering anyone can get a brand-new iPhone 8 for 449$ right now, just a 50$ difference.
From the specs, this is going to have substantially better performance that that iPhone 8. Remains to be seen exactly what upgraded hardware it actually ships with. But likely more than just the CPU will improve.

Curious about it, but something does not match up here, imo. Apple sell iPhone 8 for 449$ right now, so the price is not a factor here. If they indeed release this new iPhone in the spring (as it was with SE) with iPhone 8 chassis-size, they would risk cannibalising iPhone 8 future sales. And why would they want to do that? If the new SE is cheaper to make than 8, then there should be some material/component compromises, putting off potential new SE buyers. Let’s see.

The 8 and SE2 will not coexist, in the same way that the 5S and the SE1 didn't coexist.

Apple risked cannibalising iPhone 6 sales with the original SE. I guess they figure delaying the launch past peak holiday sales for the 11 series, it won't take too much away from the 11.

The detractor to the SE2 will be that it most likely will be the only phone int the range without FaceID, the only one with bezels, the only one without Liquid retina or better, the worst camera of the range etc.

Given Apple's shift to services, its probably more valuable for Apple to get two people into the ecosystem with a cheap phone and then charge for services, enable them to buy into the Apple Watch etc etc, then to have one person buy a high end model.

What’s with all the moaning? The iPhone 8 screen is only .7 of an inch bigger than the SE. The body is still tiny too.

Does everyone moaning have tiny baby hands? Lol. I find it hard to type properly without mistakes on little 4” screens now.

I can use the iPhone 11 Pro Max one handed and if anything I want an even bigger screen.

Night mode is only available on the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, but some improvements for low-level photography were brought to older iPhones. Still not night mode by any stretch of the imagination — older phones don’t have the UI to control it.
At least SE 2's cameras will be on par with pixel 3a's, hence night mode is guaranteed.

It’s cute that people here really think the SE was done for the 12 persons that still insist for a small form factor. The SE was done for very price sensitive consumers, and 99.8% of the purchasers were price sensitive consumers. Now that they can make a cheap phone with a bigger screen those 99.8% consumers will be happy to have a bigger phone for the same price.

Not everyone is like you. One handed to me = I can reach the top of the screen with my thumb while holding the phone with one corner securely in the palm of my hand.

I find it hard to use the 4.7 and larger iPhones without constantly feeling like they'll slip out of my hands.

Ugh.
If I wanted an iPhone 8 shaped phone I could go buy one right now

An iPhone 8 size/shape totally misses the point of the iPhone SE and why so many of us love it like no other.

The small form factor is the key
No, there is no „so many“ of you.
There are people out there who still like feature phones better than smartphones.
Shall Apple make a Feature phone now?

i just need a phone can call and whatsapp. Give me old 5s and old ios back.New os killing all old phone
And of all big smartphone manufacturers you choose apple? The one that cares the least about the past and creates the smartphone future since more than 10 years?
Hi buy any cheap android if that is all you need and don’t waste your money on business grade products..

Apple said itself that the SE was created for both reasons. For customers who wanted a smaller display and for price sensitive customers.

Looks good, other than 128GB, which will be insufficient.
Still hoping something that can substitute for the Apple Watch turns up before my iPhone 8 dies so I can switch to another platform (unfortunately, probably Android).

I don't mind this except I wish it would have 4gb ram, and hopefully a headphone jack.

In fact, I wouldn't mind if it was a little thicker with durable plastic back and removable battery. :)

Very true, the reason why iPhone XR has been the best selling iPhone recently, is because it looks very similar to the top of the end model with only slightly bigger bezels. Whereas the iPhone SE2 would look exactly the same as a 2 year old iPhone 8 model with huge bezels. if customers wanted that look, they would have been buying the iPhone 8 like hotcakes as it has been priced as the cheapest iPhone for ages now. But that is not the case. iPhone SE2 with the looks of iPhone 8 and priced at $399 is not going to shift that many units imo. It should look like the latest iPhones with small bezels and the notch, then it would sell like crazy

The A11 is ageing. What is the point of relaunching the iPhone 8 with the A11 again.

This new phone will probably hang around for a while, just like the SE did, so it needs modern specs, again like the original SE.
SE2 will be only 4G LTE iPhone released in 2020.

The SE-intro keynote stated that the SE was intended for two groups:
1) those who love 4" phones,
2) users new to the iPhone, because they tend to buy 4"-iPhones.
In that order.

Now, 2) is probably a nice way of saying that the lower price is important, and I can certainly buy into the idea that in the end, the vast majority of SE buyers turned out to belong to 2). But yes, I also think there is good reason to believe that addressing group 1) was a main objective behind the SE. It was a different time, though, as at that time far more iPhone owners were still holding on to some 4" version, and it was still somewhat of a standard.

I don’t see the fuss about one handed use. How often and what kind of situations would require you to use your phone single handedly so often that it becomes a necessity. For those that may have a disability I can see why it would be a key feature.

The majority of situations when you use your phone properly you will have the other hand free to use it two handed. You cannot use it while driving, you’re not going to cook holding your phone etc.
