What’s wrong with you? What’s wrong with having a less expensive iPhone with the latest innards? What, you want only $1000 phones?

what’s wrong with me? Lol. Fyi, I’m still using my SE until now, I even downgraded from X back to SE because I just can’t get used to a big phone. I was only commenting that Tim Crook here is at Apple to maximize profit and I really hate that, but in other reason too, I believe it’s very hard for Apple to cram all the techs plus battery size like the iPhone 11 Pro inside a casing that’s as small as the SE.

My $125 Nokia 3.1 Plus has slimmer bazels that this! Without the notch as well (the fingerprint scanner is on the back). Those top and bottom bazels look terrible in 2019 / 2020 :p

The new iPhone SE will not have a A13 in it, it won’t even have a A12.

even the new 2019 iPad 7th gen only has a A10 Fusion, with 3GB of ram which is plenty!

A13? No way..

It will be definitelly A13. Apple’s upcoming AR glasses depends on A13, and to be paired with iPhone. So, the whole iPhone lineup will be AR glass compatible from day 1.

Apple is planning on releasing an iPhone SE 2 in the first quarter of 2020 and starting at a $399 price point, according to the latest research report from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo goes into more detail about the expected specs of the so called "iPhone SE 2" in the latest research note obtained by MacRumors. Specs for the new low-end iPhone are said to include:
[*]A13 CPU (same as iPhone 11)[*]3GB LPDDR4X[*]64GB and 128GB options[*]Space Gray, Silver and Red colors[*]No 3D TouchKuo expects the new iPhone SE 2 will be a popular upgrade option for existing iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S owners.

Despite being referred to as a "iPhone SE 2" by Kuo, the analyst expects the form factor of Apple's new budget iPhone to be similar to the iPhone 8.

And the usual whining, that's not the SE, that's a revamped iPhone 8, i could buy such phone right now but i refuse to because it's too big etc... we know it. That's not the SE you want. The article also states that this phone targets existing iPhone 6 and 6s owners. Also pretty interesting that Apple will bring back the Product Red iPhone 8 color, but no gold. Space Gray, Silver and Red. Why no Gold option? 64 GB and 128 GB makes total sense however, now that they replaced 256 with 128 on the iPhone 8.

This is intriguing. I should be buying a SE soon and will gladly use it for 6 months. Will see what this looks like

So? I think a lot of people don't care, not at that estimated price point. 399$. For that price, this will be a solid phone. My current iPhone is the 8 Plus which was way more money than 125$, and it has the same bezels and my phone isn't even one year old, i don't care about the bezel. So what? Will keep it many more years. But that's just me. But still, for 399$, almost no one will care about that bezel. The problem is, that many will not buy it simply because it's larger than the current 4" SE.

No no no, not "terrible". You need to get with the times. This is "iconic". Same as with the obnoxiously white AirPods. If a manufacturer sticks to some hideous design decision for years, you call it "iconic", and then you can maybe force yourself to like it, in a sorta ironic hipsterish doublethink way.

iPhone variant will come equipped with the latest Apple A13 Bionic chip but will not integrate 3D Touch

Ha, my main reason for preferring the SE is because it fits into the chest pocket of my favorite tailored leather jacket. That thing is for the ages, phones come and go, I'm not gonna adapt to a phone if I can avoid it. :D
So you adapt to a jacket instead, makes sense.

They are currently offering the iPhone 8 for $450. Will this SE 2 replace that? Seems odd that it will be better (A13 chip) and cheaper than the current offering in that form factor. Surprised they would put the A13 in such a low-cost model as it may cannibalize sales of the $699 iPhone 11. Time will tell.

Doubt it. It's still a difference 399$ vs. 699$. 11 will still be popular. Face ID, all-screen design, better cameras, Ultra-Wide Angle, Night Mode, better Speakers etc...

looking good!

- i love the iPhone 6/6s/7/8 form factor (and weight!)
- i hate the notch. dont need Face ID. therefore a button (and bezel) for Touch ID is no problem.
- dont need 5G for a few years.
- love the rounded corners (probably the last of this for a while as trend is towards more squarish shape)
- Haptic touch is just as good as 3D Touch. (i have the 6s right now, and it has 3D touch, but Haptic Touch is just as good in every practical way)
- i only need a basic, single lens camera

but i am hoping it has a U-1 chip that can be used with Find My app. really want this!

- max storage of only 128GB is low for me, but doable.
- i hope it does not have a headphone jack, but as the base model in the iPhone line it likely will have one.
- looking forward to having one last new iPhone with Lightning to get the max use of my Lightning-USB-C cables.

iOS 13 has decidedly killed even 5 hours of battery on my current iPhone 6s.
considering that i bought this iPhone 6s exactly 5 years ago (five !), it has been a really great phone !!!
but i appreciate the possibility of a new model launching within Q1 2020.
The iPhone 6s was launched in September 2015,so it is 4 years old NOT 5.

I don’t care what anyone says, I love the home button. I have used phones both with it with and without it, and I just find it so much easier to have it.

I’ll also take bezels over a notch, any day.

Did you know you can always have a virtual home button on any iPhone?
Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch. Turns on a virtual home button which then you can customize further. Give it a try.

For me, once I got the iPhone XS, a simple swipe up and I have the home page. Swipe up and hold and I can see all open apps tiled and easily switch between. It literally only took me 2 days to forget about the home button and I am not bothered by the notch in the slightest, but that's pretty much why I chose the XS. Plus Face ID unlocks within 1 second 95% of the time for me before I even get my thumb on the bottom of the screen.

When I switch back to my spare 6S, I'm constantly trying to swipe up, only to realize I have to hit the home button. Touch ID for me is a wash, I actually like FaceID better. YMMV.

Oh, specifically to address this point, I've tried to read the same pdf on both my 6S and XS, specifically Apple's Q3 2019 10K filing in landscape via a Books pdf copy or Safari. The improvement in native view with an edge to edge screen and larger screen real estate was readily apparent - that to me is the real drawback to a smaller display with bezels. When using two finger enlargement, even with the notch, which forms sort of a margin on the right, I can get much better readability of the document.

Personally, the size difference between the 6S and XS (and 11 Pro) is quite little relatively IMO, but I realize there are many of you (here) who value a much smaller chassis (like my previous 5S) and will put up with a much smaller screen. To each his or her own.

Tim Crook? The fact that he's making Apple profitable means Apple can still support your SE instead of just dropping it off support after 1 or 2 years like most Android OEMs on their less than flagship phones. I don't get your irrational hatred towards Tim Cook while you yourself are enjoying the benefits of Apple as a profitable company. Hypocrite much?

I'd love to return to iPhone 4/4S screen size. 5/5S/SE is too big for me. I know many Americans, they don't have a "bear hands" to hold large phones. I don't understand why to produce non-ergonomic devices.
Market demand. Regardless of hand size, majority of the market demand larger screens.

I don’t see the fuss about one handed use. How often and what kind of situations would require you to use your phone single handedly so often that it becomes a necessity.

The majority of situations when you use your phone properly you will have the other hand free to use it two handed. You cannot use it while driving, you’re not going to cook holding your phone etc.
YOU don't see. YOU are used to use both hands. Some of us aren't. Why use 2 hands when only one is needed with an iphone SE ?

I'm gonna ask you then why 99,99% of products designed in the last century were designed for a single hand ? Because there are a lot of scenarios where we require the other hand for other tasks..

That's why i won't buy another iphone if the screen is bigger than iphone SE.

I understand a lot of users use their phones all day long as a computer. Personaly i work all day on a computer, and don't need my phone to do difficult tasks, and so i don't want a phone that REQUIRE me to use both hands.

Bigger screen is a market demand, but also a design issue, they can't fit a lot of technology + good battery life in a small phone. I hope Apple will solve this problem.

I would prefer SE size with headphone jack and normal home button. The newer fake click buttons work great for MacBook trackpads, but on phones they feel weird, like you're clicking the back of the phone.

Market demands more vodka, drugs, more trash and kills, rapes and other "fun" things. There are whole countries where such "fun" things happens. Do you feel it acceptable? Me—not. Exactly like I don't accept large screen sizes. Sorry, but there are no such thing as "market demands". Market is controlled by companies, not companies controlled by market.
