2021 I think would be fairly accurate.

When people say 'should I buy now or wait', you can see why they say this. To lay out the kind of money Apple charge for a laptop if you think something slightly better is on the way, the hesitation is reasonable. The config I want to get for work is $5500CDN - that's nuts.

I don't think Kuo is saying there won't be a new MacBook Pro whatsoever until 2021. I think he's referring to this 16-17-inch all-new-design model specifically. I imagine there will still be refreshes based on the current MacBook Pro design in 2019 and/or 2020.

Can Apple really keep selling this keyboard they’ve twice publicly acknowledged as faulty for two more years?

So buying know would be a good idea? This year will probably be just spec bumps based on this report.

Maybe we’re going to get a 16 inch this year and they drop the i9 till the 17 comes out in a bigger chassis or ARM.

2 years away from a new Macbook Pro? wowzers
No, reportedly a new form factor with a larger display is 2 years away. The next MBP release is gated by Intel releasing new CPUs. It’s possible that’ll be next year, so this could be one of the rare years there’s not a MBP update. Maybe just a new GPU upgrade later this year (Navi).

So Tim won’t release new MacBooks with redesigned keyboard until 2021? Can’t wait to see the sales numbers tank even further!
they are expecting downward income this year

lacklustre releases

iPad mini (with that price and that design, with iOS 12, iPad mini 4 is still speedy)

iPad Air (you get better deal with the iPad Pro 2017)

no airpower

repetitive front and unappealing back design of iphone

keyboard problems

iPad bent issues

macbook issues

Apple is having a really bad year with competition from Samsung, Windows, Google, and other Chinese manufacturers.

Strategy, lay low for this year and go all out for next year.

The 13” MacBook Pro is probably Apples best selling Mac by a country mile. For such a move to work, Apple would need to significantly reduce the cost to build and price points of the 15” model.
No way. That title goes to the MBA. Why do you think Apple kept the branding when it introduced the Retain MBA? Because the MBA has brand cachet

Oh boy. If they don't do something about the keyboard for the 2019 refresh (assuming they have one) I'm going to have to buy my first non-Mac since 2000. I guess there was zero guarantee that even if they did release the rumored 15 - 17" this year there would be a keyboard change. I was just dreaming of replacing my slowing 2013 rMBP with the fantasy machine that was going to right the ship. My brother has the 2016 MBP. I can't travel to the upside down with him.

so what are you going to buy then?

Where are the OLED Macs and iPads?

The new Mac Pro?

A pair of upgraded/premium tier AirPods?

A working keyboard for the laptops?

Have not been impressed with Apple’s pace of innovation lately!
