This does not make any sense:

The new MacBook Pro machines will feature a flat-edged design, which Kuo describes as "similar to the iPhone 12" with no curves like current models.

The iPhone 12 uses a flat edge curved design. Unless he means they are going back to the 2006 MacBook Pro straight edge design, just with the current thinness of course.

What is a “flat edge design”

thought the pro was already that

I thought the same, but just had a look at the M1 MBP and there is indeed some curvature on the top case. I imagine it'll be completely flat on these upcoming laptops.

After seeing several Apple commercials on the NFL games this past weekend, I noticed most of them were older macs - that had the lighted logo. I'll bet that makes a comeback too.

Looks like a cool WWDC keynote on the way.

I've been dreaming about a colorful glowing Apple logo similar to the HomePod. Imagine it shifting colors, or you could simply set it to white. Both would look incredible.

I see that turning into the colour spinner loading icon o_O
Cool idea!

No, that would be silly.

USB-C already carries both data and power using one cable. MagSafe in that fashion would be a step backwards.
So does lightning port but that didn't stop them adding MagSafe on iPhones.

Wow. Am I the only one that likes the Touch Bar ?
So what do you get in its place?
So they bring back MegaSafe connector but Take something major AWAY
Probably went up in price.
NO COVID pricing for you. We want your money. We dont care how bad the economy will get with millions out of work and months behind on their mortgages and New Car payments. The banks will buckle like domino's under all that bad debt.

I think Apple bringing the old style MagSafe back would be strange considering the relaunch of it in a new form factor... maybe if it was a small puck that attached to the side maybe (that would seem more likely).

The Touch Bar was a huge failure, their attempt of bridging the gap between physical keys and a touch keyboard just never worked and was never massively adopted, so it’s great if this is true.

Apple is finally admitting via design that the Touch Bar is trash and MagSafe should've never been axed. The correlation between touchbar and MagSafe is too coincidental.

This has nothing to do with the new chips. Someone just came to their senses and said if we remove the failed Touch Bar we will again have power and space for MagSafe.

Who's the dude that's been posting incessantly about the need for an all new MBP16 with magSafe and no touchbar since the day they axed MagSafe? That's right :)

It's the return of the MagSafe biatches.

Could this new design change have anything to do with Jony Ive....I mean he was involved in the much hated 2013 Mac Pro redesign, and the much-hated Touch-bar-era MacBook Pro redesign...could the return to common sense have anything to do with Jony Ive leaving?!?!??!

We only got good things after Jony Ive left:
  • A slightly thicker iPhone 11-series of phones with much-improved battery life
  • A return to a more traditional modular Mac Pro
  • ....and now, this new....a return to a port-full MacBook Pro, without the TouchBar, and a return of MagSafe....
I think the coincidence is just too much. This has all the markings of the design + engineering teams reigning back control, after the departure of Ive and a return to common sense, especially now that Ive's minimalistic theme is no longer the dominating design language.

Considering I just bought my M1, I won't be an early adopter and will likely wait this one out for a few years. I am more likely to upgrade again next year Christmas, but go for an iMac instead. Hope they introduce a 32 inch screen.
How are you not an early adopter if you bought the first generation of the Apple Silicon computers?

Wait wait wait... what?? If the new MacBook Pro is not getting a TouchBar, and MagSafe is back, then maybe it is a good thing to wait after returning my 8/256GB MBA before buying the 16/512GB one.
I think I’ll wait, yeah, at least until this redesigned machines are out.

I don't know, the AirPods Max scream of Jony's nonsense. It wouldn't be his creation without an accompanying meme:

*me: removing my intel MBP 2020 listing on marketplace

I was gonna buy the 1st gen M1, but this next gen 14" MBP seems worth to wait.

Flat design means both the base and lid are flat, mbp have flat bottom and the next one will have flat lid also
Razer blade style
Flat lid means room for 1080p FaceTime camera with maybe in the future faceId
