Well, that went left. We went from a possible date of October 29th to late 2020. Lol. Damn near a year later. That’s iPhone 12 release quarter.

Well....... I was looking foward to checking out this Macbook Pro at the Apple Store at Chadstone or Southland and buying a couple of months down the track but I guess I can wait till the middle of next year as my 2014 Macbook Air is still running well. Still a little disappointed though.

I bet the 13” Pro will move to 14” and the Air will be the only 13” MacBook they sell.
I bet it will eventually go to non-pro 12" and 14", and pro 14" and 16". Or possibly even all three sizes in both categories, but I doubt that.

Obviously a significant delay, I wonder if it’s not just some component issue, but a strategic shift that will drastically alter the product lines. Many (like me) expected the 16” MBP to act as a bridge between the old X86 world and the rumored shift to Apple CPUs.

The article header implies the MacBook is next year but the MacBook Pro 16" is still unknown and there's still a few days left in October.

Right, a lot of people can't read.

Is Ming tweetable for clarification regarding that this is indeed the 2020 15" (or even a revamped non-pro Macbook) that is next year and that the 16" is still possible this year?

Did anyone really think Apple was going to release a 16" model without an event? Why on earth would anyone think that? They are going to want to talk about the screen and how great it is, along with the redesigned keyboard and updated specs. I just don't see how anyone would think that Apple would release newly designed MacBook Pro without an announcement, it makes absolutely zero sense.

I agree that but Airpods Pro announced without an event so yeah...

This 16” MBP will be part of the 5th generation together with a brand new 13”/14”. I don’t believe it was delayed at all as some claim. It was always going to launch in 2020 exactly 4 years after the launch of the 4th generation.

I don’t believe it was ever going to be an additional option. If anything Apple will drop the price of the 2019 15” to $1999 and sell the 16” for $2399-2499.

Still, they announced a whole new product without an event, unlike other airpods.

I guess 16 inch replaces 15 inch. The problem is the design itself is almost identical to the 4th gen. In this case, what's the point of making 5th gen if they dont redesign it?

16 inch will probably launch this week. Based on the leak, it wasn’t a redesign really. Why wait until the 4 year mark to announce the same design again?

So there will be just the 13" and 16". Looks the same but the !6" will most likely start at $3k for the base model.

I really wish we could just get a 17".
I miss those days we could also get the matte version.

Well, that old 17" was an interesting machine.

A good friend of mine who was a graphic artist and typesetter said - "If they come out with a 17" Powerbook, I'll buy it for sure" - but when it came out it was too expensive, he said, so he didn't. I thought that was too bad because it seemed like what he really wanted.

Anyways, here are my thoughts about what you say about wishing for a 17" MacBook Pro - If you had the same form factor today, maybe that would be a 19" MacBook Pro! Not sure, but you know what I'm getting at - the bezel on the new machine would be gone, so it would be an even larger screen. Would be pretty cool maybe.

So we only have to wait another 9 months for confirmation on this rumor? Great!

Kinda pointless to publish rumors that far out in advance.
