Wow another year to get a keyboard from 5 years ago? How the mighty Mac has fallen.
Kuo said months ago there would be scissor keyboard laptops released in mid-2020. In a later research note, he said there would be a new 16” model released in 2019, also with a scissor keyboard.

Based on this article, do you think the mid-2020 date has changed, or that he’s retracted the 2019 launch date for the 16”? That’s not what I read, and Macrumors and AppleInsider didn’t jump to that conclusion either.

Is it possible there is no 16".

Without the link to the article or the text, it is hard to say. He usually refers to MacBook Pro different then the MacBook line which is the MacBook and MacBook Air line to him. But we can't see any of that, but Macrumors got a leak of it about the MacBook.

For me, that is the key difference, he usually differentiates between the MacBook Pro line and the MacBook/ Air line. Guess we will see. All today showed is that MacRumors have zero sources in Apple, and that this could go either way, since Macrumors got a confidential report that they won't post, so we just have to accept their summary.

Neat. Looks like I can replace my 2015 model in 2020. 5 years lifespan is decent.

No doubt was intended for an October keynote/release but was delayed. That's why Apple AirPods Pro didn't have an event, they didn't want to wait for the new MacBook to be ready.

I always figured Apple would stick to their typical 4-year product cycle for MacBook Pros. But this does suck!

2004->2008->2012->2016

By all accounts it's actually rolling off the production lines as we speak, and has been doing so since the start of the month. Maybe that's not accurate as well, but it's a lot easier to know this for certain as it leaves a supply chain fingerprint. I can't see them starting production now and not launching until June next year, they don't even build up that much iPhone stock (it ties up a lot of cash to produce a lot of a product to sit in a warehouse not being sold for 8 months!).

Yeah, I wondered about the rumours of them already having been in production for a few weeks now. Hmm.

Considering several of my colleagues and I are already considering switching off of Mac (after having been Mac users for the past 10 years) due to the keyboards I would have expected Apple to be in more of a rush to launch a Macbook with a working keyboard sooner. At least assuming there are more people like I who are really sick and tired of a keyboard that does not work properly.

I thought the tell-tale sign that something was imminent was the inclusion of the icon in the macOS beta? That's held true for quite a few things in recent years, AirPods Pro being the most recent example.

Hi, I need to get a macbook right now for video editing because I currently own nothing. What should I buy that is valuable for the money, something that I can ditch later to buy the new 16-inch model

It's clear they are focusing on services nowadays. Well, maybe they should also allow some other HARDWARE maker to do some laptops on which MacOS can run, if they can't get bothered any longer? Anyway, money in the bank for another year, and see you all guys in 2020 for the rumors and the hype! :D

The only thing that is preventing me from jumping on the Windows bandwagon and those GREAT laptops (really) is that I use Win at work and in my spare time I would still like to use another OS.

Which part of "Apple is the services company now" you don't understand?
Albeit they do not even have one service which is so great and would live independently without deep Apple device portfolio. Even Apple Music depends mostly on Apple devices. So, yes agree, their focus on services will drive their income, but in long term, without devices it won't work.

For that, iPad, iPhone and Watch are enough.

Mac is just a blight on their spreadsheets.

Wait until the end of the week (because there's been a reasonable amount of noise that this laptop really is imminent) and then look at second hand or maybe a refurb from the Apple site?

Apple does major refresh every 4 years, last time Touch Bar came out in 2016 and Retina in 2012, so obviously 2020 will be the major re-design. Kuo and all these leakers have been teasing and just building up for no reason
Your first observation sounds right. As far as your second... maybe he was just, y’know, wrong.

You are pretty inconsequent with your statement, just a reminder you wrote: Which part of "Apple is the services company now" you don't understand? So in your logic they shouldn't need iPad, iPhone or Watch as they are service company now.
