Is there anyone who ordred non-6K version of 32" Kuycon (Kuycon P32K 4K 144HZ 32-inch IPS Monitor)?

Can anyone provide a summary of the current status of the Kuycon G32P? Thank you!
  • Is the port Thunderbolt 5 or Thunderbolt 4?
  • How is the English support so far?
  • Any bugs or compatibility issues with macOS?
  • Are there any future firmware upgrades or feature promises?
  • Where’s the best place to buy? (Alibaba seems cheaper on shipping, but are there tariff concerns when shipping to the US?)

I'll give it my best shot from monitoring things here, but will leave it to others with more experience to correct me if I'm wrong!
  • Is the port Thunderbolt 5 or Thunderbolt 4?
    • It "supports" thunderbolt 5. It is unlikely an actual licensed Thunderbolt port and I would not assume you'll be able to daisy chain...etc. You should use a Thunderbolt 5 cable to insure you get full bandwidth for the display.
  • How is the English support so far?
    • Others have dealt with support and I've seen someone even have a unit replaced (though it wasn't in the US).
  • Any bugs or compatibility issues with macOS?
    • None reported and I wouldn't expect any
  • Are there any future firmware upgrades or feature promises?
    • Nope
  • Where’s the best place to buy? (Alibaba seems cheaper on shipping, but are there tariff concerns when shipping to the US?)
    • ClickClack is the best place to buy for US. They are advertising tariff-free shipping for now, but keep in mind, US tariff policy is scheduled to change AGAIN in August 29th to remove the de-minimus exception many folks use to avoid tariffs. This is my biggest concern... I have no faith that I wouldn't be hit with a tariff post 8/29 OR hit with a tariff on any replacement if it were needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could someone share the output of `system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType` with us?

Code:
Displays:
        Kuycon G32P:
          Resolution: 6144 x 3456
          UI Looks like: 3072 x 1728 @ 60.00Hz
          Main Display: Yes
          Mirror: Off
          Online: Yes
          Rotation: Supported

So does this mean I'm actually seeing 6K even when set to half rez in System Settings? In full 6K mode the UI is absurdly small.

@oKUtItyp I can confirm it works with the Apple Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable (without promising its TB5).

In regards to Engrish, the manual misspells Universal as Niversal.

It works flawlessly with my Mac Studio, iPad Pro, and iPhone 15. It takes slightly longer than an Apple Display to turn on but otherwise works fine.

My opinion is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. There's no AppleCare, baby!

I had a fine experience on ClickClack. They left it on the street with no signature, FYI.

Is the port Thunderbolt 5 or Thunderbolt 4?
neither of the two. But it is compatible with any Thunderbolt 4 (DP1.4) port and Thunderbolt 5 (DP2.1 80Gbit) port.
So does this mean I'm actually seeing 6K even when set to half rez in System Settings?
yes, of course. In hiDPI mode (which you have enabled) macOS uses 200% scaling so the real display stream has resolution 6144 x 3456 but the UI is rendered as 3072 x 1728.

Monitor just arrived!

I havent put it through its paces yet but I've plugged it into test if its working, and happy to say it does with no obvious dead pixel or faded areas.

The text is looking nice and sharp, much like my imac 5k but with a nice 32 inches.

I'll do a more thorough review of it when i get a chance to use it more.

Initial impressions are great!

Where did you order the Kuycon G32P? How much does it cost you?

I literally can't see the one dead pixel i got, but I checked because if its more than 3 you could get a replacement.

Is the remote the same battery as an Airtag?

I almost don't even want to check for dead pixels. I can't imagine the hassle of sending the monitor back :)

I haven't tried the remote yet. I suspect its a CR32 battery but I haven't validated it yet.

I received my Kuycon 6K today…

First impressions out of the box it looked and felt like elegant construction. Solid metal all around. Heavy. The stand feels strong and substantial and attaches easily to the back. The metal “grate” in the back looks nice and it has metal around the edges. No plastic anywhere except where the cables plug in.

I purchased it hoping the image quality would match my Apple Studio Display (5K), and from my eyes it looks almost impossible to distinguish. The Apple may have slightly darker blacks, but the Kuycon has less reflection. It is definitely a glossy display, but does block reflections more (not entirely) compared to the Studio Display and my MacBook Pro. I would say it was akin to the nanotexture I’ve seen on the recent iPads.

The color-profile matches my Apple displays out of the box. Brightness and volume keys do not work, but a download app makes them work. It goes to sleep with the other displays, but takes maybe three seconds to awake compared to the others.

Other details:
▪ One cable USB-C charging/video/audio works well
▪ There is no camera or speakers. There is a 3.5mm audio plug which works, but sound quality was not good
▪ It comes with a USB stick with a firmware file, but no app or instructions for updating the firmware
▪ It does have a power-button, but the Mac can turn it on or off on its own
▪ There is an on-screen menu with remote for settings thing like color and contrast
▪ The bezel looks identically sized to the Apple Studio Display
▪ HDMI works at 6K60 from my MacBook Pro (M3 Max)
▪ It’s at 60Hz, but if you lower the resolution all the way down to 1920x1080 resolution, it will do 120Hz.
▪ Ordered from ClickClack.io on July 10, received it July 26.
▪ Night Shift works

I will post some pictures in the next post. If anyone has any questions let me know. I definitely recommend it. I would also compare the image quality to my LG Ultrafine 5K. Build quality better.

EDIT: Added Night Shift works

I got Mac brightness control to work using the keyboard. I wanted to see what HDR looked like, and once it was set to 'auto' in the OSD menu and HDR enabled in display Settings, a brightness slider appeared in display settings. The display looks normal with HDR enabled and activates for HDR content. It’s not as bright or vivid as compared to the MacBook Pro M4, but it’s quite acceptable — plus, the keyboard brightness control works without needing third-party software.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Thunderbolt 5 cable that is 1.8 or preferably 2 meters long, as well as a good HDMI 2.1 cable, so that the Kuycon G32P can be used effectively (also on a Windows PC)? Links to Amazon for the cables would be appreciated.

@Dark-Signature "Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Thunderbolt 5 cable that is 1.8 or preferably 2 meters long..."

No. The maximum length for passive TB5 cables is 1m, and AFAIK neither Intel (nor anyone else) has released a chipset for Active TB5 cables, yet.
So none exist. ATM.

So, if a TB4 1.8-2m cable doesn't work (which means an Apple one, as their quality is best), then the only current option is to use a TB5 hub/dock midway between two 1m TB5 cables.
I suspect for AS Macs (with DSC) there should be no problem using TB4, but someone needs to try...

Any HDMI 2.1 certified (hologram marked) 48Gbps cable should work.

take into account that you need Thunderbolt 5 cable only in case of plugging the monitor into Thunderbolt 5 port. If your source of video is USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 port you can still use any 40Gbit cable (i.e. TB3, TB4 or USB4) or (I suspect) even good USB3 20Gbit cable (because USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 uses the same amount lanes as USB4/Thunderbolt).

Hey everyone,

I’ve been watching this forum for the past few weeks. I’ve had my eye on Kuycon monitors for quite some time now, and when I saw the 6K, I knew I had to have it. I literally just created this account so I could finally jump in and share, lol. I placed my order on August 5th, and received a notification from FedEx that a label was created on August 8th. This info on FedEx tracking says it’s From Jensen Wang in Missoiri, TX. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.

The plan is to hook it up to my Mac Studio and pair it with my Apple Studio Display in portrait mode. Super excited to see how it all comes together!
US Delivery Update:
  • Ordered from ClickClack.io on August 5th
  • FedEx label created on August 8th in Missouri, TX by Jensen Wang
  • Package received by FedEx on August 19th in Carol Stream, IL
  • Delivered on August 24th to Portland, Oregon
First Impressions:
I have it paired with my Apple Studio Display, and it’s almost indistinguishable except for black levels. The only other difference I’ve noticed is that when viewed off-axis, the Kuycon loses sharpness in color and contrast.

When I first took the stand out of the box, I found two very small screws loose inside. I later determined they belonged in the round part of the mount assembly. After installing them, I let Kuycon know so they could be aware for the future. I also didn’t realize until my monitor arrived that the remote does not include a battery. It requires a CR2025 button-style battery, which is not provided. Lastly, I noticed that the round opening on the back of the 6K display, where the stand attaches, has extremely tight tolerances. I had to wiggle the stand and apply light pressure to seat it into the monitor properly. I hope this helps anyone else interested in this display.

I really like it so far.

Are you saying black levels are better on the Studio Display?

Is that the LG 5K? Is it just me or are the blacks deeper on the LG?

Yeah. I also noticed a decent amount of light bleed on the Kuycon when displaying an all-black screen near the bottom two corners. But during regular use, it’s not noticeable.
No, the colors are a tad richer on the studio display, but I've been messing with the Kuycon's settings to try and match it.

How did you get his menu? I'm connected with a Thunderbolt 4 cable, and the menu on the Kuycon says "Auto" for HDR.

It's a 4k LG.

I was initially concerned looking at Oliur's (?) YouTube review because his blacks seemed washed out. But since getting it, I'm extremely happy with it. I did adjust the contrast just a little (running BetterDisplay). Trying to look at the same window on both monitors, I can confirm the Kuycon has a deeper black than the LG as far as my untrained eye can detect. I'm sure it's not Apple Studio Display black but is more than adequate for my needs. I tried to take a side by side picture but it's not possible to capture...the LG is matte while the kuycon is (very) glossy and it makes the black appear lighter on a photo.

And the 32 inches is such a nice upgrade. I need to figure out the right viewing distance because I think I'm getting headaches...lol...it's a lot of screen.

I can't believe people don't think things through. 1. Oliur specifically mentioned in the comments that the background in the G32P video wasn't black at all, but dark gray, and 2. The angle! If you film any IPS monitor from a slight angle, the colors and black levels flatten slightly. That's completely normal. 3. It's 2025, and the panel industry is no longer in the Stone Age. So why shouldn't this 31.5" panel have reasonable black levels that can compete with an Apple Studio Display?

It's not against you, cdutoit, I appreciate your report, but there are so many users out there who simply cannot think for themselves.

I know that if I have a 32" 6K at home, the distance between my eyes and the screen will be 60 cm +/- 2 cm again, because then I can see the full Retina quality. That's why it's extremely important for me to buy a glossy screen, because with a matte screen I can see the crystalline pattern created by the matting, which is just awful!

TBH I'm not really sure what you're articulating here. I think it's hard knowing what the Kuycon is going to look like since it's impossible to see it anywhere in person, and there are few reviews on the monitor. For most of us, it's a significant cash out lay for a monitor site-unseen, that will be extremely difficult to return. My results are significantly better than what Oliur showed. So I think it's fair that many users have valid questions. I or other users could "think it through" but there's no substitute for seeing it in person followed closely by asking others who have the monitor. Not coming at you Dark-Signature, just not sure I'm tracking with your reasoning here. Perhaps one day we will get a 32" 6k OLED with true blacks! Then we'll all be happy!

I can see the crystalline pattern created by the matting, which is just awful!
On this I hundred percent agree. I've been waiting for the monitor industry to catch up to give us 6k32" with a glossy panel. I was excited about the Asus until I discovered it too is Matte. I don't know why so few glossy displays. Demand? Cost? Not sure. But the Kuycon nailed it here. I truly hope it "lasts" as right now I'm very happy with my choice. Thanks for the distance tip. I think I may need to increase my viewing distance just a little. It's surprising the difference in real estate it makes stepping up from 27 to 32.
