@Dark-Signature "3. It's 2025, and the panel industry is no longer in the Stone Age. So why shouldn't this 31.5" panel have reasonable black levels that can compete with an Apple Studio Display?"

Because:
If the retail channel is prepared to remunerate LG in the same way as Apple, for both design and production excellence, and insist on Apple's level of Quality Control (= rejecting sub-standard panels) then I'm sure the end results would be comparable.

You get what you pay for. For 6K that's why the Pro XDR Display exists, and if the general 'panel industry' were to invest in better quality production channels, then general production would match Apple's products.

What's Apple's investment in setting bus its supply channels to get what it wants? What we enjoy buying...
$55 Billion a year is the ball park figure that a search produces - in addition to actually buying the goods... 😶

Here is a comparison picture with the Apple Studio Display on the left in portrait orientation with the Kuycon 6k as the main display. I attached another photo at the bottom to show the slight light bleed in both corners of the Kuycon vs the Studio display.

Just like I described, however I have a Thunderbolt 5 cable

Yeah, still don't really get it. Should work from what I understand from your description. My Kuycon display was already set to Auto, and there is no option in Mac Display settings for HDR. Also, the keyboard shortcuts work for the Kuycon brightness but no slider, like what was showing in your picture. Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt 5 shouldn't make that different for this application from my understanding.

If I loosen this screw, can the angle be adjusted for tilt? Or is it only for structural/decorative purposes?

I tried contacting Kuycon but didn’t get a response. :p

Update: ClickClick replied super fast—amazing!

Thanks for reaching out to us!
It is used for structural/decorative purposes and cannot be used to adjust the angle. Sorry for the inconvenience and confusion caused.
Kind regards,

Hi all, thinking about buying this monitor but not sure if it's better/easier buying directly Alibaba/Kuycon or ClickClack.
Also, if going with the Alibaba route, what info did you guys used for the VAT/duty. I'm in the UK. thanks guys

I'm in the UK and bought from Alibaba. I've put all this information previously but here goes:
– I instigated a chat with Kuycon from the product page within the Alibaba platform to ask a few questions before purchase.
– They offered me free shipping (they just offered without me asking!)
– The shipping did NOT include duty and taxes
– The shipping was very quick – 4 days from order to delivery
– On arrival in the UK I had to pay £95.10 duty and taxes
– The total price I paid was more or less the same as ClickClack. The only difference was the speed of delivery – Alibaba was faster compared to the quoted shipping times from ClickClack.
– The whole process was straightforward and the Kuycon representative was very responsive throughout.

How did you do it with the power cable? We will need different power cables at different locations on this planet. Does the Kuycon G32P come with adapters or different power cables and how long are/is these cables?

I think both these statements are correct. Although tt is misleading that they lean into Thunderbolt when listing the specs.

But also I think we need be realistic and look at the value proposition offered by Kuycon. As an owner of the Kuycon I would say the headline is that it is very good value for money. It's 32", the colour accuracy is good, the ease integration with my Mac Studio is great, the stand looks good and works well, you get a VISA mount as part of the package, it's 6K 60Hz as advertised. For the price, I would say that's a good deal. If I had unlimited funds, would I buy the Apple Pro Display XDR instead? Probably. Would I rather have the Apple Studio Display? Probably not – the 27" falls short for me and it is overpriced when including the extra cost of the stand. If I was in the market for a 27" display I would probably opt for a Kuycon 27" model until Apple announce a new Apple Studio Display and then I'd reconsider my options.
I did have the 32” XDR When they first came out. I along with it purchased the height, and tilt stand.

I’m a designer, so it was important to me to have a high end monitor. I always used two separate monitors, as it allowed me to multi task easier. (Email / app on one side, whatever I’m working on in the other, proofreading etc). My findings were with such a wide monitor I basically felt like I was constantly moving from one desk to another it was so wide with no curve (I had no curve experience prior). But it looked great.

It was a bit dim to me, but I found an app that made it brighter (betterdisplay I think)?

Well when the studios were released, I sold the XDR, and bought two studios instead. But it just didn’t look right on my desk. It doesn’t support the brightness app, and my eyes are getting worse anyway.

I ended up taking a huge loss when I sold the XDR. Now it’s just too expensive for me, but it sounds like this monitor, although not as high of build quality, still supports 6k, 60hz and is 32” correct? On their site it says no stand (go figure) but the tilt/height stand is $99 so no issue there. But in the actual cart, it says “height stand” or something similar, so it better be the correct stand. Images are missing on their site, but could be my phone?

Anyway, at this point I’ll order one if someone can at least say it’s physically a real product, and that it’s 6k. Thank you.

Oh, I even tried two 32” XDR’s at one point. My neck didn’t like that…

The light bleed looks like a subtle gradient which makes the image look right nice 😂😂😂 are you trying to see which wheels look best on your car? I used to do that all the time lmao.

Here's something I've just discovered...

When connected via Apple Thunderbolt 5 cable I see this in display settings. Brightness keys don't work:

When connected via HDMI (supplied in box) cable I see this in display settings. Brightness keys work:

EDIT: When connected via HDMI the OSD shows "HDR/ON" when connected via Thunderbolt % cable the OSD shows "HDE/Off".

Anyone got any ideas why the HDR option isn't available when connected via Thunderbolt?

I got Mac brightness control to work using the keyboard. I wanted to see what HDR looked like, and once it was set to 'auto' in the OSD menu and HDR enabled in display Settings, a brightness slider appeared in display settings. The display looks normal with HDR enabled and activates for HDR content. It’s not as bright or vivid as compared to the MacBook Pro M4, but it’s quite acceptable — plus, the keyboard brightness control works without needing third-party software.

Are you connected via HDMI or Thunderbolt? I only see the HDR option in system settings when connected via HDMI.

Note that people here are buying via Click Clack or Alibaba. See the links in the 6K WikiPost.

If by “their site” you mean Kuycon.us or Kuycon.co, those sites are not actually Kuycon sites (Kuycon does not have a website, even in Chinese). See Post #197 above.

Something appears to have changed in MacOS after 15.3.1, and Apple published a Tech Support update in March.
Basically M3/M4 Macs have had HDMI-CEC enabled, which allows MacOS to control, or receive control signals, when connected via HDMI to an external monitor.

Whilst this is mainly to do with standby on/off switching etc, it may have also allowed control of brightness/volume, and also HDR, over the HDMI cable.
This is a report of it happening...

If so this is a newly introduced 'undocumented feature'. 😉

@Geneman14
You need to install Better Display (there's a free version on Github), which will give you complete control of the inner workings of the monitor.

The developer is active on MacRumors, and it's essential if you run an external monitor.

Yeah, still don't really get it. Should work from what I understand from your description. My Kuycon display was already set to Auto, and there is no option in Mac Display settings for HDR. Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt 5 shouldn't make that different for this application from my understanding.
I'm having the same problem. Connected via Apple Thunderbolt 5 cable and I have no HDR option or brightness slider. If I connect via HDMI I see the HDR toggle option and brightness slider.

If I enable HDR in the display settings (HDR is set to Auto in the monitor’s OSD menu) the brightness slider appears. This is using a Thunderbolt 5 cable and a Mac Mini M4 Pro. Maybe it is the monitor firmware? I have the latest 2.2 version.

Yes I have that on 'Auto' in the OSD menu.

I reached out to Kuycon for technical help and received the following reply:

"You can try connecting using our included USB-C cable I suspect the reason might be a communication issue between macOS and the monitor's USB-C interface video signal protocol.
You can also try setting DP REV in the G32P's OSD to 2.1 because the M4 MAX's TBT supports 2.1 80GBPS mode.
There is no HDR option; it might be because MacOS detects insufficient bandwidth.
If the above still doesn't resolve the issue, Please check is your MACOS version official? We tested that the M4 Macmini and Macbook Air both have the HDR switch functioning normally."

I had already tried their cable with no change so I changed the DP REV setting in the G32P's OSD to 2.1 and I'm now seeing the HDR option and brightness slider.

Great, thanks for sharing. I was just about to reply that I had DP 2.1 enabled in the OSD as well.
