Have a s4 and the screen is the only good thing about it, it can sometimes be a tad big, but 4 inch can sometimes be a tad small

You do realize that vendor specs represent the real world, rather than how you "feel" about it? 3GS3 may may not feel like its a 3rd larger, but it is.

Look at the photo, thats real, does it look a third larger to you? Give an honest opinion. I didn't say it was how I felt about it either, I said "real world feel" or in other words how the device felt, there is a big difference.

31% when talking in inches or mm is really very little, if we were talking about a 100 metre running track, then adding 31% would be very noticeable to the runners.

I do not mind a larger phone, but damn get the weight down. I do not need a lead weight in my pocket

Sounds like a good reason to not do it, then.

What does this even mean? Were you born w/ an iPhone in your hand? Was your first ever phone an iPhone? Are you saying you don't want Apple to grow its customer base? What about old Blackberry users or Windows Phone users who were waiting for a larger iPhone to finally switch? Absolute drivel...

I hope this is true. Been using android 4.7" phone and a 5.0" phone since leaving iPhone and I just can't go back to a smaller screen now.

4.7" is about right for me. I'll need to try out the 5.5" first though.

I want to return to iOS. Hurry up iPhone 6 :D

Both my mam and step dad have recently bought new phones. One is the Sony Z1, the other is the S4. Both would have had an iPhone if it wasn't for the screen size. I suspect both will try their best to upgrade early when the new iPhone with a larger screen comes out.

For all the talk of a larger iPhone, any word of something no larger than the 5? Maybe gain an extra 0.5" by going true edge-to-edge with the screen, but that box it's in cannot get any larger for some of us. I tend to laugh at people holding >5" tablets to their faces ... then it just hit me: might I have no choice but wield a bigger phone to stay in the iOS ecosystem?

Actually no. Where would you go given the iPhone 6 has bigger display?

Mid and higher end Android phones already come with 4.5" as a bare minimum. So sadly you won't have alternative if you want a usable phone AND less-than-a-slice-of-pizza phone.

The only phones come with smaller display are the cheap ones. Might as well use feature phone instead. You wouldn't stand it.

You raise a good point. Not sure where I'd go. Going back to Blackberry is a problem given the shape they're in (unfortunately). That was the only reason I switched (reluctantly) to the iPhone in the first place. Android I ruled out right from the start because of the big phones. I may just buy another 5s and put it in the drawer until my 5 breaks.

Sure it does. The device is noticeably larger across two dimensions. If you wear tight jeans and keep your phone in a pocket - you're going to notice that difference. If you have smaller hands and hold a phone in one hand - you're going to notice that difference.

Now, it's perfectly fine for you to say that the increased size doesn't make a difference for your daily use. But it's silly to argue with a mathematical fact that the Galaxy 3/4 is nearly one third larger than iPhone5.

5.0 to 5.2" is the sweet spot. 4.7 is still behind. Someone needs to shake that "innovator" guy.

I have a Note 3, but I wouldn't mind a switch to an iPhone if it's worth while. My main problems with is that the software doesn't feel dynamic, iTunes is needed (not going to go away, but I can deal with it), battery life is too little, the camera is not becoming higher powered in terms of MPs, and the device needs more RAM. If they can get me a phone from 5-5.8 inches, 1080p display or better, 2 or 3 GB of RAM, keep the 64 bit processor, increase the MP quality to about 13 or 16, put a 2600+ mAh battery, etc, I might buy it. If not, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Nexus 6, or LG G3.

Man, I can't decide if I would buy the 4.7 or 5.5. I carry around a 5s as a phone and a Note 3 as a "tablet" and would love to consolidate, but I don't think I could use something as big as the Note for my daily phone.

I also think Apple is smarter than just increasing the size of the phone overall. I'll bet they are going to reduce bezel size on the sides a little, and significantly reduce bezel size on the top/bottom allowing them to offer a larger screen but not have to make the phone much larger. If there was one company I would expect to do something like that, it would be Apple.

I have owned the iPhone 5, SGS3 and SGS4 and there is not much difference when in a pocket, and I have smallish hands, that is my experience, but probably the best we are going to get from this exchange of views is an agreement that we disagree, so I will leave it there.:)

I would have to go to the Apple Store and hold one if these if the rumors are true. I'm not all about a bigger iPhone, but I said the same thing when the 5 was initially released. Although I'm kind of betting on the fact that I will just keep my 5S for the time being. If I really wanted a phone that big, I would get a Galaxy Note.

I'm probably in the minority in hoping that Apple keeps the current screen size or makes a phone slightly bigger (or releases two phone, with one keeping with the same screen size as the 5/5S).

if the battery life is still crap i'm going to the dark side. Sorry apple, love your stuff but I don't want to be tied to an outlet or have a huge battery case..

bigger screen equals more volume equals more battery. In theory, they can improve battery life in that manner, unless they decide to go paper thin.
