Android ....

Of course.. The larger the device, get some if the other crowd on iOS too...

besides, when you look at the pic, it does already look like an android at that size, maybe its getting to the point android users can no longer tell the actual difference?

I recon the larger we go with Apple, the choice will be a haze, since suddenly people who buy Android is for larger screens, also other features, but screen is a first.

I'd buy in a heartbeat. There isn't any other equivalent options out there.
Apple's product is still the best, no doubt.
Small screen is the only big drawback for Apple to compete. EPS will increase, everyone knows this.
I'm too cool to get crappy Android phones.

For people who say "buy an ipad mini if you want a bigger phone" i totally would get an ipad mini if it had cell phone capabilities! But apple doesn't sell it like that.

Uh oh! I guess Android phone manufacturers will make their phones bigger now to make iPhone 6 look small and keep users.

"For the first time ever we've increased the size of the display. By making the screen taller, but NOT WIDER, you can still comfortably use it with one hand." - Jony Ive

"It is really easy to make a new product that is bigger, everyone does that, that's not the challenge, the challenge is to make it better, AND SMALLER". - Phil Schiller

For the second quote, it might mean that they will make the outside bezeling smaller, but increase the screen size. (Although I'm not sure how that would apply to the 5.5" model)

Sounds like a whole lot of "duh!"

On a more serious note, I am one of the upgraders who does so every other year when I am eligible and had a 3G and 4 and now have a 5, skipping the 3GS, 4S, and 5s. However, I can tell you from what I have seen of the Galaxy S3/S4, I like the form factor and have also been waiting for the larger screen. I had an iPad 2 which became the kids iPad and got a Mini (before the Air came out) and really like that form factor. But for that reason, I wouldn't want a 5.5" iPhone 6, on par or close to the Note 3.

I prefer the mid-size. I guess I have mainly seen the S3 at 4.8" and don't know if I have seen a S4 at 5.0". I was always resistant to the larger screen as I like it to easily fit in my pocket, so I think that a 4.7" is just find and still a substantial increase from the current size.

Anything larger than 4.3" will make me NOT upgrade.

The rumored 4.5-4.7" iPhone won't be any taller or wider, plus it will be thinner.

For those who have been starving for a bigger iPhone will have a 5.5-5.7" model.

Isn't this a perfect cover all bases approach for apple?

Apple would need more than a screen increase to convince Android users to convert to iPhone. They don't need to open source their OS, but can they at least allow Google Voice to be the default for international calls?

"Large-screen envy" is prevalent among the iPhone users who have never tried a large Android, after that they can't wait to get back to a sensible size the iPhone is now.

Size doesn't matter anymore

I swear I won't upgrade if we don't get a real path to VoLTE. iOS 7 has been so bad I may start shopping around.

I think it's unlikely they'll introduce two new models. I'd buy the 5.5 inch model, but I don't expect they'd make such a significant jump. I think ~4.7 inches is next.

Put me in the 'keep it 4" crowd' I do understand some think bigger must mean better, so Apple should make at small tablet iPhone for them, grabbing their business. We do all want Apple for stay successful right?? I love the size of the 5.

And as usual, Apple will severely underestimate demand and it will be 6 months before you can walk into the store and buy one without waiting in line or checking inventory every day.

Of course it's going to sell in huge numbers, the small screen is it's biggest drawback for most users, IMO.
c.

I doubt apple under estimates demand. They know exactly what they're doing. They do their best to make the iphone hard to get. Those long lines and anxious customers help bring attention to them.

In the meantime, Apple just gives up on its existing users who actually appreciate the iPhone's smaller size?

Are there no rumors to indicate that Apple will keep a model with the existing 4" screen?

Exactly. I don't mind Apple releasing an iPhone model with a bigger screen, but if they drop the 4" model, are we sure that all iPhone owners will "upgrade" from their current iPhone, instead of switching to a more sensibly sized phone running Android or Windows? I surely don't have the need for an even bigger phone in my pocket.

I agree....Apple, I hate to tell you this, but if the next iPhone is that big?

I'm out.

And where will you go to exactly? Nobody makes smaller phones anymore, except Apple.

----------

I have an iPhone 5s. I do NOT want a bigger phone. This one fits nicely in my hand and, especially important, it fits nicely in my pocket. If big phones are so desirable, why is it that they only represent twenty percent of the iPhone market? The fact that Samsung sells some monster sized phones is no reason why Apple should follow suit. Some people say that Apple HAS TO sell a larger phone in order to compete. Well, judging by their massive profits, Apple does not have to do anything that they are not already doing.

Like increase the display size from 3.5" to 4"? I thought 3.5" was the very, very best??

Think again...
Bigger screen does not necessarily means bigger product!
It's amazing how lot of people here don't realize you can make the screen larger without changing iPhone's size (perhaps make it even slimmer)
My guess is that's what you will see on the iPhone 6. Same size iPhone, thinner, lighter... but larger edge to edge screen.

----------

I don't want to carry around a wide screen TV in my pants all day.

Exaggerate much? Lol

----------

And as usual, Apple will severely underestimate demand and it will be 6 months before you can walk into the store and buy one without waiting in line or checking inventory every day.

Very true!! Same thing every year!

Lure Android users because of the screen size ? Whoever said that, still doesn't get it. It's not just the size that matters but what you can do with it :p :p

----------

And where will you go to exactly? Nobody makes smaller phones anymore

Such a shame that you get forced to upgrade. I wish it would be easy to just keep your current phone. :p

A 4.7" screen would certainly tempt me back, as long as they go back to the 4/4S aspect ratio. I would hate to think how long a 4.7" screen would be with the current ratio.

App developers will love having to support so many different screen sizes. Still taken this long for some apps to upgrade to iPhone 5 resolution.

You can pack a lot of iPhone into the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X's old dimensions, time for the phone makers to go full circle and return to the massive brick dimensions after all these years of smaller is better.
