Larger iPhone 6 May Cause Massive Spike in Upgrades, Lure Android Users

]There is no benefit in the larger iPad unless you have vision issues. Same real estate. And with that in mind smaller is better.

Still have 20/20 and prefer my larger iPad vs the Mini. It's easier to type on, easier to use a keyboard case with, and easier to show off to people.

if the battery life is still crap i'm going to the dark side. Sorry apple, love your stuff but I don't want to be tied to an outlet or have a huge battery case..

battery life is an issue for all smartphones. they all use the same battery tech, tho iOS is probably better optimized for the hardware than some of the alternatives.

I'll upgrade to the 5.5 if they made one. Wouldn't bother otherwise.

Don't want iPad and iPhone anymore. Just want one device.

The reason I am drawn to the Nexus 5 is because it is a bigger screen not just a taller phone. I want a phone that I can actually read and hold without dropping.

The iPhone 6 will be slightly taller and defiantly wider. Around the size of the nexus 5 but thinner.

Even if Apple does "give up" on the small screen lovers, that likely won't have much affect on the phones they purchase. Considering how the only "new" phones that come out in the 4"-4.3" range are the bottom of the barrel budget phones. Will an iPhone user switch the a craptastic phone just to have a smaller screen? Doubtful. Especially because they could still get an iPhone 5C/S for the next 3 years if they prefer the small size to the performance of the phone.

That's just my point... I don't want a budget craptastic phone. I want the top of the line iPhones that still give me a 4" screen. Right now only Apple caters to that market.

Apple has no hope in getting me to convert with anything less than a 4.7" screen.

There is a lot of pent up demand for a larger iPhone.
Just like there was huge pent up demand for an iPad Mini.

I'm an Apple shareholder and I can't buy an iPhone because the screen is just toooo small.

Really? On What Planet is Apple lagging Android?

I'm thinking of switching to T-Mobile so I picked up an Alcatel Evolve, $49. Android 4.1, 4" Screen, etc. Pretty much stock Android or so the reviews say.

It's a decently built phone - nice in the hand (better than the iPhone, IMHO), OK display, nothing to write home about.

But, The Android experience is still a mess since I left it for 2.2.

  • Swype? No use for that crap - turned it off within 10 mins.
  • The Android keyboard is nowhere near as accurate as iOS.
  • Contacts? Great but where's the alphabet on the side to jump in the list? Nope.
  • Chrome? It stutters worse than a kid with Turrets. (May be due to the CPU but it's a common complaint.)
  • Go to the top of a list or webpage? Double tap the top? Nope, no way to do it.
  • Music. Where? Google Play App, Music app or where? Why do I need 2 apps.
  • Plugged it into my USB in the car to listen to tunes. Nope. It's on Media and Ford's Sync won't read it. At least with iOS I plug it into the car and it comes up playing whatever.
  • Apps seem to be second rate and not as feature rich on Android.
  • E-mail is OK but the app won't really word-wrap e-mails from my IMAP (non Google account).
  • Corp. E-mail is a JOKE! Not integrated with the mail application and needs some jacky workaround not needed on the iPhone.
  • Multitasking is cool until your phone gets unresponsive due to too many apps open.
  • The background Zoom/Pan/Whatever is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Yes I have it disabled on my iPhone.
  • T-Mobiles non removable bloatware is a PITA
  • First phone I've had that has a Reboot option next to shut down....
  • Fonts are so huge it feels like "My First Phone". In some places they are small.

Those are it off the top of my head and most are not the fault of the phone but the OS.

There are some things iOS could implement
  • Notifications are cool
  • Widgets are nice
  • Hold the top row of letters for #'s is awesome
  • The size of the Evolve is nice - nice large screen and not much bigger than my 4s.

In the end I'll be glad to be on an iPhone if I switch. Should we switch, the plan is to deal with this POS until the iPhone 6 comes out.

try a HTC ONE , before you declare android a POS, a 50 dollar piece of junk isn't really gonna convince anyone..

I jumped to the Galaxy S4 to get a bigger screen. It's not a bad phone. I've had Iphones and Android before so I am familiar with the system. The form size is okay for me. I left the S4 to go back to Apple with the 5S. I really like IOS and the transition back to the smaller screen went okay, but I would jump at a larger screened Iphone.

What's so special about the HTC one it did not sell well and most of the profits from that went to apple for patent infringement.

Lets pretend these "two phone" rumors are true....

If Apple is still going to make a smaller iPhone AND a 5.5 inch iPhone, Why on earth are people complaining about Apple making a larger phone? Just Buy the smaller one!

Would this make you happy? Apple sells the 5.5 inch iPhone for $199.00. Then they sell the smaller iPhone for $499.00. Then the people that bought the smaller iPhone can feel elite and that they got the "REAL" upgraded/better iPhone. :D:D

Google "smartphone of the year 2013", it won almost every review sites top award... Your lack of insight into anything non Apple is staggering. By the way Ford sell more than Ferrari.. so sales figures ain't really a metric to measure things by are they...

When it comes to battery life, you're not going to find many devices that best iDevices. And let's not forget it has more CPU/GPU power to boot.

Bigger iPhone

I've been waiting 2 years for bigger display iPhones ,,I have the iphone5 not big ennought display ,I have to zoom anything I want to read ,I'm tired of it,,
If the iPhone 6 isn't any bigger I'm going android ,I don't want to ,
I don't understand why some people are so worried about iPhone 6 being won't fit in hands ,,well you must have a pretty small hand ,,wake up ,,apple better get go bigger or there going down in sales I promise you that

That illustration MacRumors uses is maddening. There's no point increasing the screen size if it it doesn't support more info and icons.

Iphone6

Poor people are scared it's gonna get bigger ,,I'm not scared that's what I want and so does all the younger generation ,,apple better do it this time or there gonna lose a lot of people ,,iPhone 5s ,,5c. DISAPOINTED me so bad I tought
Would have a choice of 2 different sizes ,,
For sure I'm changing my iphone5 this year and I hope to god apple won't disappoint me this year ,,

----------

I'll tell you what people want:they want a longer battery life and a bigger display that's it,,
Never mind thinner and thinner and thinner soon it's gonna be like a piece of paper ,,did u ever hear somebody say I gonna change my cell phone it's not thin ennough ,like c'mon apple get with the programm and listen to what people really want

I'm hoping for a 2.5-3" iphone mini myself.

Agreed. A phone is a phone. I want it to fit in my pocket and for it to fit so comfortably that I forget its even there. If I'm going to browse the internet, or do something more than basic communication, I have a laptop, a desktop and even an iPad for that!

I guess your preferences and device choices settle it for everyone once and for all.

Well duh.

Many idiot apple users will comment you don't need a larger screen but that's just a knee jerk reaction.

Apple sell two sizes of everything but iPhones, it's not a matter of if they will it's just when. I suspect it'll come finally this year.

It will cause huge android fans to default. for sure but also not.

As long as they leave the smaller one as a choice. Some of us really don't want a Galaxy Note, or even Galaxy S. I think they're cumbersome as hell.
