*rubs eyes*

here, ive got a slightly shopped image kinda showing what i was talking about in the upper right. i'll go take my meds now, unless i'm not crazy

I can't believe it. But I'm pretty sure it says:

If you should dare to take a picture
bet your bloody testicles
my ninjas will get you!

My guess on the Apple tablet:

Price for WiFi-only model: $599 to $699 (start with the 32GB iPod touch for $299, add the larger display for $200, add $100 to $200 for high capacity battery, more DRAM, and a slightly faster CPU/GPU and that's the likely retail price).

Price for WiFi/3G model: $399 to $499 but requires a new 2-year commitment to a cellular data plan (AT&T or Verizon).

Hardware: basically a large-screen iPod touch with the option for 3G data services.

Operating system: based upon the iPhone OS but with support for running multiple, concurrent applications. Existing App Store apps will run in relocatable, floating windows where each widow will act like a virtual iPhone/iPod touch display. Applications optimized specifically for the tablet will be able to run in a full-screen mode.

New e-book section on the iTunes Store. There will be a major emphasis on digital publishing and e-books. Also, a lot of the iTunes content will be available directly from the "cloud" (i.e. will not require local storage on the tablet).

Haha. But seriously, I think there's a good chance that you might be able to. More than a good a chance. Where it says "No Service", normally that would say AT&T, which equals "phone" ability. Right??

Probably a 3G data-only connection. Doesn't have to mean "phone".

As I've said before, I reckon the tablet will be like an "iPhone Pro" - maybe without the calling but other than that fundamentally similar. It'll have specialist apps, like office (Apple supposedly have made iWork for this, remember?) and graphics work (maybe a custom Photoshop) thanks to the larger screen.

E-Magazines and E-Books will be made available from iTunes on the tablet AND iPhone - Apple will want maximum revenue from these and it'd be crazy to think they'd not make them available to the iPhone as well.

LOL, and to think, I thought i was so cool for being the person who caught that. Well, you win some you loose some

You're not making any sense. If you want want that's an iPod Touch, just don't buy cellar service. It's not required. It's for those of us who are willing to pay to be connected everywhere. If you just want wifi, then pay for the cost of the device, and use wifi only. There's no reason the rest of us shouldn't have the option of always on internet, just because you don't like the icon in the corner.

No douche... it says no service, which probably means in order to buy it we're going to have to subscribe to another phone service. The wifi clearly works, that wasn't the issue. My iPhone has wifi, but I did't really have the option to buy one without also paying for the service.

I guess I was hoping for large iPod touch, not large iPhone.

THE NEW YORK TIMES WEBSITE JUST ACCIDENTALLY LEAKED A TABLET PHOTO:

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/category/books/

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

look down the right-hand column, there is very obviously a story attached to a photo of an apple tablet, but when you click on it it doesn't take you to a story.

I'm going to grab a screenshot before this gets taken down.

EDIT:: And that looks like a detachable/bluetooth keyboard next to it, no?

That doesn't look like it.

Haha. But seriously, I think there's a good chance that you might be able to. More than a good a chance. Where it says "No Service", normally that would say AT&T, which equals "phone" ability. Right?? I'd love to have everyone's take on this please :)

If you have to pay for service, I definitely see phone calls being made with this device. I don't see why it would be that strange if you had a bluetooth headset. Maybe it's a video phone (iChat) and if the other person doesn't have it, you would essentially be on speaker phone with them.

There are a lot of possibilities. I just think it's going to suck when I find out that in order for me to have this Apple product I either have to create a new plan with AT&T or worse, Verizon.

Wow, screw this tablet, just a larger size of what the regular iPhone is but with a few new things added...

Agreed. But I think it would be pretty cool if we had that option to use it as a phone if we wanted. Don't you?

A bit like the original iPhone's ability to turn on 3G if you don't mind about battery life.

And the ability to change batteries in the iPhone if you're not completely happy with the usage time you get.

And the ability to install your own iPhone apps if you don't mind giving up Apple's walled garden of app installation and security.

Never gonna happen. :) As I said, Apple doesn't do half measures in products, and they *especially* won't with something as important as this.

Thank you for your reply. I also do believe you'll be able to make phone calls with this device. It will be running a pro version of the i"Phone" OS after all. Front-facing camera with iChat will be totally awesome. If it has a front and back camera, I'm sold immediately.

Maybe only with a headset... and a voip app.

Based on what information? I didn't think we knew what was going to be included as features, what the OS interface looks like, etc.

Please, please, pleaaaase be fake. I hope it's much more unique than this.

Someone delete the spam post and i'm at the top of twelve!

This thread is like a train wreck involving Calacanis and a bunch of Lenova's... I can't look away...

Ok, here's a piece of clairvoyance for you ...

The big surprise (and game changer) with the tablet will be how you interact with it. We're not talking about multi-touch anymore, but rather hand motion.

So, for example, to turn the page of a book (or newspaper), you simply move your hand *over* the display, not unlike when turning a physical page.

There are two benefits: (1) the screen doesn't get dirty, and (2) it's an easier/lighter maneuver for the hand.

The droplets of paint on the invitation graphic refer to this new mode of control. They will probably a demonstrate a paint app with support for this.

Looks like it could be legit. If so, they are going with a vertical orientation apparently, huh.

T-minus 9 hours! :D
