If you are a mac mini fan, the best tactic over the years is to expect nothing. Mac mini love needs to be balanced with heaping doses of pessimism :D

This is also true for being a Van Halen fan.

I must be a glutton for punishment... I love my Mac, and Van Halen.

Who here thinks that we might see a real big upgrade to the Mac Mini?

Dunno... this will be my second Apple purchase since getting a 2G iPod for Windows. That's when MusicMatch was the only way (besides Anapod Explorer) to transfer music to the iPod... worst experience ever and the battery crapped out in two months.

I need a Mac to do some development for a contract gig I just got, and it's convenient I found out about the updates within 24hrs of getting that work. I'm looking at the Mac Mini or iMac.

which is why it is in place, a kind of incentive for the retailer to make sure that their product is as described.

It goes a lot further than that though. It gives the consumer the right to return anything bought at a distance without them having a valid reason. Returns cost money for a retailer - the shipping / handling costs, credit card charges, damaged packaging etc.

Consumers also have the right to return if they paid by credit card without giving a reason as well, though not many people are aware of that as its part of the consumer credit laws which give the right of cancellation.

As I said, all of this is great for the consumer but if you're a retailer it all costs money in the long run.

Finally, the parts list surprisingly reveals that the Mac Pro will finally be updated alongside a new ATI RADEON HD 4870 graphics card. The Mac Pro specs reveal the following specs:

- MAC PRO 2.26_8CX/6X1G/640/GT120/SD-USA
- MAC PRO 2.66QCX/3X1GB/640/GT120/SD-USA
I hope the GT120 doesn't stand for the GPU. An nVidia GT120 is just a rebranded 9500GT, which is very disappointing. When the HD2600XT was first introduced it was a mid-range card, probably at the $150 price point. With recent price drops, the 512MB HD4870 is now a $150 mid-range card. If Apple uses a GT120 low-end GPU, which is a $60 card, they would definitely be out of touch with graphics progress. What little of it there is already, given nVidia's constant rebranding, from 8xxx series to 9xxx series, now to GT1xx series.

What time does the apple store usually come back up, I'm in the UK and I seem to remember it always being around 1pm, ie in 20 mins...

you've stayed awake this long, you may as well wait :)

I'm waiting til 7:05. I figure it'll be 5 a.m. on the west coast, which is probably a perfect time for them to hit the "Publish" button.

If it's not up by then, I'll be glad to catch up when I wake up at 7:15...
