I think a bit more like this might fit the ticket perfectly. I'm sure the TARDIS uses OS X 25.4 "Serval"

Might actually fit the welcome screen, can anyone give it a try?

That music is perfect. I'm trying to sync it properly to the welcome screen.

Does anyone have a copy outside of Youtube? Or, how can I download the youtube version?

 That intro video....I was kinda expecting an intro of....space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship pullsitoutofmyfanny.
It really was a bonehead move to integrate that whole space thing into the intro. I mean other then Time Machine it doesn't have a thing to do with the OS itself other then being something that someone thought HEY! Why don't we do this for something different.
And for something different I'll continue to bitch...As for the icons. Thank god. Because I know that tweaked icons were high on my priority list. Seriously, while I know they have multiple teams working on leopard, OK so I'm assuming they do. If they put half as much effort into advanced feature sets as they do with the spit and polish they put into icons and minor features Leopard would have been a much more interesting OS. While I'm going to get it anyways simply because of its expanded ability to utilize multiple cores, Leopard feels like another marginal OS bump.
Sure they are continuing to refine 10.x but the overall design still feels like 10.0. I mean whatever happened to piles for god sake? All this theoretical R&D that Apple drops cash on. Don't tell me it lead to a transparent menubar or a wannabe fake 3D dock. Never mind the fact that the dock hasn't really changed since day one even though there is MASSIVE room for growth just there.
They don't need to reinvent the wheel but would it hurt Apple to give us something that makes that new shiny OS feel next generation instead of some marginal update? I mean bitch at MS all you want. (Trust me I do that as well since I don't think MS or Apple have the perfect OS.) At least they are taking risks with some interesting technology in Vista. And there is interesting tech in Vista.

You may now leave the forum for stating the mostly true in a painful way, and complementing vista. BYE BYE

You have an interesting point...

For it to be correct, it would have to be aware of the placement and geometry of the trash can in 3 dimensions. Icons are still 2D, either 512x512 pixels with colors and a transparency channel or vector based. There would be a way to make the trash look more realistic in the way it reflects, but it would look weird and wrong on other icons.

Just thing of icons as floating pictures. They really are floating, most don't physically touch the dock bar anyway. the iChat icon would fall to the right because it's weight center is to the right of the spike. But the icons are all flat so they would have to fall backward so they lay flat on the dock bar. This might look interesting, but would make it hard to use...

So... yea :D

To be fair, it wouldnt be that difficult to switch off the automatic reflection for the icon and have a realistic reflection drawn by the icon artist. Or maybe they just need to make a new recycle bin thats viewed from a more suitable angle... its definately gonna bug people if they keep it like this

No Arabic?

They practically have every language on the welcome screen but Arabic, I really think that's not cool. Arabic is a major language in the world and Apple should have acknowledged its existence in the welcome screen.

Apple has quite a strong presence in parts of the Middle East, I know many publishing companies in the middle east that rely solely on Macs.

Personally I have switched my entire company into using Macs, just doesn't feel nice to have my language to be left out. No big deal, but would have been nice

Ethnologue lists 6,912 living languages in the world today. With Arabic (all varieties) in number 4 so can see your point.

It's not final yet so it may be in the shipping version of 10.5. It really should be as it's a widely spoken language.

I had a dream about a Leopard last night. I'm getting really impatient, it seems like I've been waiting forever for 10.5. And now I've warmed to all the interface changes I love everything about it!

There are no "top secret" features left to learn. We knew about them this summer. Mainly they were the new UI. Example: stacks in the Dock (which is functionality, not just eye candy).

I never argued that there was no functionality; however, with that included - there's still 199 so-called top secret features left.

We did know about them this summer, and people were/are still expecting 200+ features.

What is so earth-shattering about Leopard? It just seems like Tiger with a new face (kind of like another OS I know of...)

It's almost as if Leopard is a point upgrade or something instead of revolutionising the entire earth and producing world peace!

Give me a break, Leopard looks awesome. There are plenty of new things like spaces, time machine and stacks along with UI improvements and under-the-hood improvements like Core Animation. With this you also get improved applications like iChat, Mail and a new Finder.

What more can you ask for? There are PLENTY of improvements in Leopard.

Just as you said... looks awesome; I am getting to the neck with how obsessed people are with the eye-candy. Yes, Leopard has many advancements (e.g.: Stacks, Core Animation, Time Machine, and etc.), and yes, it looks like no other OS I've ever seen.

If my recollection serves me correct, from Jobs' keynote at MWSF '07, I distinctly remember him stating that "this is going to be the biggest overhaul, the biggest change in OS history." Besides the advancements in Time Machine (definitely functional) and Stacks/Spaces, I don't see much of an 'earth-shattering' breakthrough.

Will Leopard be great? Of course. Is it an advancement? Of course. Is it groundbreaking and completely revolutionized? I'm not so sure about this one... (I think some people have been sipping the Kool-Aid a bit much, but we'll know on launch day for sure).

EDIT: I'm trying to add value to my position in AAPL; In my view, Leopard has not been priced into the stock (it's mostly new iPhones/iPods that have shown the increase in price), I want to know positive and fundamental information (e.g.: In general, how is this going to change the OS world?; why I should add value and bank on Leopard?; if this OS will get AAPL incrementally/exponentially more market share, and why?)
