Agreed. I would think that even if those are not real, the actual models will somewhat mirror those.

If so, I like the change and figure to buy one when they come out

A fat MBAir computer with upgrades from the old MBP's is just fine with me

eww:(, im not sure if i like the metal on the macbook. im in love with the plastic:), its so light weight and its not cold to the touch like the metal ones are. but i bet its a bit more scratch resistant

Yeah the aluminium is good with scratches... I'm looking at my 4.5yr old PB now. There's no scratches ~ all I can see are finger prints from never having wiped it down and smeg from where my cat likes to rub on it

I don't really like the rounded design. I particularly like the shape of the current MB and MBP. I hope the MBP will not adopt the rounded corners shape.

Its like theres a black and white response to everything...

I like the rounded off look as opposed to the old look.

then you have new keyboard or old keyboard
plastic or aluminum
blu-ray or not

and now, what is a straight line or isnt? that's my favorite. :D

Best intelligence we still have is the retailers bulletin that said "order a 3 week supply so you don't get screwed" that puts the launch to most likely August 26. Seems like the MB and the MBP will come out together. They said 4 weeks for iPod, so those would logically be Sept 2, though it seems odd they'd only have a week between the releases, they would be technically in separate months.

until something stronger comes along than that bulletin I don't see any better argument for today or "late september" than the last week of August.

Hope the screen is thinner. Can't tell, though.

Also, a smaller foot print or less bezel would've been nice.

Can I ask some advice?

I have a MacBook 2.16GHz black, 2GB of RAM, good condition, Leopard. I would quite like a new model when it comes out.

I was thinking I would transfer my MacBook to my seldom used iMac then sell my MacBook. Does anyone know how much I would get and also how much these new notebooks are expected to retail at?

Is it even worth me selling my MacBook at all? I just thought the earlier I do it the more I would get for it.

Well, it does kinda look like someone clone-stamped out the "Air". But look at the inge. It looks rounded in a half circle like on Macbooks and Macbook Pros. The Macbook Air's hinge looks like this:

EDIt: Nevermind, this is a photoshopped Macbook Air Lid without the hinge parts screwed in. I call fake. I like the Macbook's plastic. My black, 2 year old Macbook looks like new when cleaned with trace amounts of window/mirror cleaner. So single scratch. Only gripe is the noise the ginge makes. Squeeeeaaaaakkk !

Yes, sell the Macbook on eBay. You get at leat 2/3 of the original price, even after 2 years and it's kinda broken. Be sure to erase the hard drive though before you sell it: Insert Tiger/Leopard CD, reboot pressing C, abort OS install process and open disk utility from the menu bar. Select the Macintosh HD, select the option to overwrite with random data 35 times and erase the whole thing. Let it run as long as you can, at least 7 passes, you can abord anytime. After that, just install the OS again with iLife and all the drivers. When it boots and plays the Welcome to Mac OSX video, just shut it off (cut the power). This way, it's like it just came out of the box.

Looks real to me. Don't they have previous on this, leaking the iPhone 3G cases which turned out to be real? MBA and MBP owners won't be best pleased that the MB has acquired a shell that is indistinguishable from their own to the untrained eye.

Also the bottom line is no where near straight. even if my red line wasn't straight we'd not see white on both sides at the same time.

Ever heard of inperfect lenses???
Not one affordable lens will keep geometry the way it is.
Due to barreldistortion or some other lenseffect you get pictures like these.
Take a picture with your own camera and try to match a straigth line to a long line on the photo... it won't be straight.

Good point. Someone take a picture of a Macbook screen from the same angle.

looks good!

I've been waiting for an aluminium MacBook for a year now. Eventually there will be one, that's for sure. Now it looks like it's finally about to happen.

I already got myself a MBA, but my next Mac might be this new Aluminium MacBook. I just wish it had latest Intel integrated GPU X4500 and maybe Apple could finally ditch the combo drive...

They will keep the combo-drive... I am sure.

I'm in the same situation. I plan on selling my BlackBook 2Ghz 2Go RAM for a brand new iMac. I fear that my current 2yo MacBook will lose a lot of its value once the new designed one will be unveiled.

Do you think that's a good move ? (I plan on getting a desktop because I now have a laptop for work, so my Mac doesn't ever get off my home desk anyway)

If it is true the rounded base will make the MacBook look slimmer, even if it turns out to be the same fatness as the existing MacBook. In addition it is nice that it retains the smooth overall looks. I'm not the biggest fan of aluminium as a look myself, but it will make a nice change from the white/black of the current MacBooks that was inherited from the iBook before. Maybe the metal will remove heat better as well. Now maybe if Apple did coloured aluminium MacBooks ...

you do know its in a box wraped around packaging matteral. kid...

also no need to roll your eyes, it just rude and makes you look retarted.

He's retarted because the first tarting didn't take? Sometimes I really wish things could a little more civil around here. Oh well. That's the internets for you.

Anyway. I'm interested to see what Apple will come up with next for the redesign. I actually don't always agree with their design choices, but at least they're never boring (at least not to me).

Oh god, please ditch the combo drive. Think of how much power and space could be saved.
A cheap external one for when you HAVE to burn a dvd but I never use mine.
