I'm with the guy who drew a line in a program and didnt use ms paint to draw a line. The program had a more straight line, then the red one.

I'm also leaning on a new macbook _________ a new added suffex to the macbook. Hidden away for god knows what.

To everyone saying the MacBook lettering is off-center: I understand your concern, but it's really hard to draw (literally) conclusions because of perspective. The screen isn't placed flat-out in front of you.

Thats the only way to tell if these pics are true or not. Drawing crappy lines in MS paint wont cut it.

Pretty likely. It's hard to imagine the macbook being so different though after so many years.

Hard to imagine apple moving to intel to ;)

Lol, funny to see you made that in Vista :p

why is that funny? Not everyone on this forum is a full blown mac user...

I agree. Well that is, I'm still getting another Macbook but it would be one of the current models.

All I can say is, if it looks anything like the MBA . . . yuck.

it may look like the air but it doesnt need to have the same thickness nor features/ IO ports...

Me? :p I've never owned a mac in my entire life! But I really need a new laptop, and it will probably be the new MacBook :) Want to try something new. And I can still run windows on it if I want to.

same here. thats why i'm waiting to get a mac... waiting for the new models.

Apperently they did NOT get rid of ALL plastic since the new iPhone got a plastic back..... ;)

Btt:

If fake or not, I like the new design... Looks futuristic like the AIR

Some tech specs would be nice too!!:(

Niko

yeah I dont know why apple did that. better wi-fi or 3G support I guess....

design is nice, people need to get with the times...

Man I wish they would eliminate or reduce that inch of plastic around the screen. Sony did it and very nicely I might add on the new offerings. The MacBook and MacBook Air both need the reduction badly, while the Pros need it a little less.

So where are the doubters now? :D

I really like how things are going here.

As all the MacBooks start to resemble each other in looks, Apple will have to look towards components for significant differentiation.

Also this would be a new chapter in the history of Apple design, with the old (PowerBook G4, plastic MacBook) designs gone and a new set of designs (MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, aluminum MacBook) replacing them in less than a year.

I'm going to go with real. All of the leaks over the past couple years (3G, nano (fatty), aluminum keyboard) all had me thinking "no way", but this could be it. If so, I like it. Also, I noticed the small perforations (microphone I think) near the isight camera now match the style of the macbook air.

By the way, my first post here, but been a reader for years.
Welcome to the MacRumors community!

I totally agree with you here. Also people claimed that the images had flaws in them, they were photoshopped, etc., when they were all real.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone think they might drop the "MacBook" Line for an expanded MacBook Pro line with a 13.3" option and then something new as the entry level notebook?
Expand the Pro line? Sure. Drop the MacBook line...why? It is the entry level notebook

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A347 Safari/525.20)

cool, but this will mean crapier wifi reception.

I'll probably do a full mathematical examination of the photos later…

Yep, I'm gonna have to agree with those who say this is a MacBook Air. Could the new MacBook look a lot like this? Yes. Is this it? I don't think so. Look at the placement of the word "MacBook" on the screen. It's off center and in the exact same place as the word "MacBook" on the MacBook Air. They tilted the shot so it would be harder to tell that it was off center.
At first I thought it was perspective but after reading it, I tend to agree with you.

And if it is fake, then does that mean that the earlier MacBook Pro photos are also fake? Unlikely, because AppleInsider said they were real. Anyway, we'll know in a short time.

Uh huh, that's great and all but...
[iPhone 3G]
Wireless reception.

Reintroduce the 12" Powerbook in 13.1-inch Intel format.

Seriously, this casing, if real, just shows how little the external design has evolved since the 12" Powerbook came out.
We haven't seen the whole design.

also no need to roll your eyes, it just rude and makes you look retarted.

You are correct.

How the heck did I not think of that?

I suck at math.

(Although I'm very good for my age, apparently I still suck. :D)

Glass?

Is it just me or does that look like a see through glass panel with two or three white touch surfaces?

cc.

The word "MacBook" on the bottom of the case is centered.

(I digitally enhanced the picture to make its features easier to see.)

you're so right. i hope they are fake because i'm hoping for a smaller footprint and i don't like the large screen becel.

if this is the design i'll still buy it if the specs are ok. and i will still be happy with it of course.

Can I join in on the fun?

I'm pretty sure you have the orientation wrong. Although it APPEARS as though the MacBook is oriented radially (from our perspective), the "left edge" of the MacBook is actually a sheet of foam covering part of the laptop cover. If it was the table that the cover is sitting on then the grain should be the same. But it's not. That's because it's a sheet of freakin' foam!

Not centered? Yeesh, enough already.

Those pictures look pretty cool. I just only wish apple would give us a taste of their new products with a special mac and/or ipod event this month!

apple logo doesnt look like its going to be lit with light..

and what about the mbp? do you think they will leave it as is?
because apple is still saying its new and nothing about the macbooks so i think we will only see a macbook case redesign and only speed bumps to the mbp.

I see. Good point. No wonder it looked weird to me. To be fair though, it's probably sitting on a piece of foam too.

Because he doesn't want an aluminum computer, more prone to dents and bad fit? Anyway, that's what's bugging me the most about my MBP, that and the poor quality of anodising.

The denting of the aluminum drove me to my black MacBook. The aluminum casing for the portable line "makes sense" however it will be a step backwards for those of us who use and abuse our equipment.

Whatever happened to the bulletproof plastic iBook styles? Perhaps this just leads us to a new line.
