Brown?!? No - I'm thinking there's going to be a black with gold/copper around the edge, similar to the announcement. That's why the sim tray would be that copper-ish color.

Copper is tacky. Brown has more of a homely natural feel to it. Like leather boots and tabletops.

It will be brown, but maybe called "Space Bronze" which sells better

They may call it Copper if it has a metallic shine, but brown is more popular than most people think. But it is the word brown which easily is associated with poop. So marketers usually call it or qualify it coffee, chocolate, leather, nut, coconut, chestnut, honey, clay, whisky, cognac, fawn, ochre, mahogany, terra etc. depending on the shade.
A dark brown color could look great together with a leather case as an example.

Brown will probably just be a tweaked golf variant (like copper/rust) and quite honestly it might be the sleekest aside from space grey.

Still probably will sit this cycle out but the gold in the past has just been *too* vibrant so a toned down/deeper color might be the sweet spot.

*remember the initial X leaks with that “copper” version; sounds like Apple finally reached the color they were looking for so interested to see

Since anodizing is a relatively simple process these days, I am amazed Apple hasn't cashed in and offered BTO color options similar to some premium automakers. You have a color code, they make it that color, and you can choose from a more limited screen border color selection that could easily be pre-made.
