Why do all the news outlets keep saying 'Smart Connector?' That looks nothing like a Smart Connector. It looks like the Magnetic Connector that the Apple Pencil connects to.

Pencil Mini OTW?

Thinner? I do hope they intend to increase the battery. 5G is a hog. I had the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren. It died so quick, I got whiplash.

I'm very satisfied with the 11 Pro Max. So I'll be sitting this one out. We've got a long way to go with the expansion of 5G coverage.

I am going to laugh at all the people who buy a 5G phone and wonder where the speed is and why they get crappy reception and battery life. The infrastructure is not ready and won’t be for several years. Even in the cities that have it completely ready in very small areas reliable high speed and such is not there. My friend who works for Crown Castle as a project manger for the mid Atlantic region says so many people are being deceived by promises and hype that just are not true. He installed the best system made and in testing 1 gig service in wide open test field only went out 450 feet. Every 50 feet speeds drop 250 MB’s. Then suddenly at 1040 feet it just dies. This the MW system. Any building or tree kills it completely. The mid bands are equal or slower then LTE gigabit system, low is equal to normal 4g. The biggest issue they see is the power required to maintain the signal. Equipment overheats and throttles out put. Or the system shuts down resulting in a tower going down. He said most of these issues are caused by regulatory actions and Manufacturers of phones rushing the production of phones for a system that is really not ready.
exactly and its not like the internet now is turtle slow, it is quick with the present 4g or lte, the 5g is not necessary for now, will rather have the 5g gone to save battery life and price.

I can't believe iphones can get any thinner but that probably what we said about iPod mini before we got iPod nano.

I average 110 MB on my ProMax in my area through Verizon. That’s pretty damn good. I have 800MB service at home. I am satisfied.

I downsized from the XS Max to 11 Pro... Honestly the best thing I done. Shame it looks like Apple will be killing this size with the 12 though 😩

I want the smallest phone 5.4” with this design and the best features. I prefer smaller phones as I find them more practical (personal preference)... but I know I’m asking too much 😭 gutted Apple may be killing the 5.8” screen size.
Possibly a reason for the change in screen size from 5.8" to 5.4" is to have a display size that is 18:9 aspect ratio vice 19.5:9 ratio, same maybe for the 6.5" to 6.7". It is weird to display videos to cover the display and have the top and bottom chopped due to the odd aspect ratio, glad it maybe addressed. Notch getting smaller in whichever direction is also a positive.

Now if Apple can figure out how to have the stereo speakers both firing forward instead of one firing downwards would improve on the symmetry of the device. Some android handsets have accomplished this small task while Apple, we are waiting.

I really like the square edged look of my iPad Pro 11 and would love to see an iPhone to match it like the iPhone 5. One thing though; I find the iPhone very slippery and always end up having a case anyway so....

iPhone 4 design was used with the last updated iPhone SE in 2016 and retired the size in 2020. With the new SE adopting the iPhone 6 design expect this to last for another 4 years, but hopefully not. iPhone X design has been on its third revision but in actuality it's a slight modification from the iPhone 6 design language, not much has changed with this design for six years. I believe a redesign is welcomed and most agree the squared off design is a classic and easier to hold.

All I want is USB-C. Practicality matters.

I believe there was a rumour awhile ago that iOS14 may have a restore function similar to what macOS has had for years. If that is the case the reason to have USB-C or any physical port decreases. Apple really needs to include Qi 15W charging vice the present Qi 7.5-10W. If practicality matters to Apple they would release phones and computers where user would be able to repair their own device. USB-C would be nice, but not needed.

In your defence and support, one is limited to phone usage while using a wireless charger. On the flip side maybe keeping ones phone down might be better to ease societies addiction. ;):p

I feel the same way, maybe the device is getting larger to accommodate for an :apple:Pencil 2 Mini. But it would be odd to have something attached on the side of a device that is stored in a pocket or held in a hand. Maybe its TouchID, however why not incorporate it into the power button, save space and keep the design clean.

yeah I agree. Hopefully by 2040 they will release a notch less phone

Will phones even exist the way we know it as present in 2040.:p:oops:

they would have used the space before in the notch for larger speakers

but the next iPhones will get two speaker source so it will make it even or close to twice louder

Barring any technical challenges with FaceID initial tech, I wonder why the speaker could not be moved to the very edge/rim over the notch, this would have reduced the dimension of the notch day 1. Add another speaker to the bottom where the lightening connector is, also on the edge/rim but that might be cramped for the lightening connector housing.

Apple Engineers really need to figure a better solution.

For Apple, It's a stupidity to do any reduction when it can be removed from the screen and move to the top bezel.

It’s funny how this looks more like the old iPhones just as the first SE gets replaced by a form factor that no one asked for while the non max iPhone 11 Pro is actually the smallest phone in the lineup.
i guess Apple is checking how many of the customers of the old SE are willing to dish out 1000€ for a small phone Closer to the classic 5s form factor.

Ok now I am happy to spend €1150 on this phone when it comes out. Finally we are going to good design language and leaving the rounded characterless mess that they've been shoving down our throats since 2014. If this comes out, I guess I will have to finally switch from my iPhone 8.

Apple can't get it right and Tim Cook does not know what the customer likes.

Looks good and I like it, even if I’m not sure if such a sharp edges design would be comfortable on a rather big device to be held with one hand 🤔

silly having a camera bump, may as well make the phone that thickness all over and have even more battery
Definitely not. I don’t want a brick.

Plus with the A14 being built on a 5nm fabric - battery should be a couple of hours better than the current 11 Pro Max.
You are being overly optimistic. With 5G and an high refresh rate it will be a good result if they maintain the same level of iPhone 11.

Doubt a single generation of CPU can boost the battery by a few hours. 5-10% at most.
If you add 5G and 120 Hz to the mix, I strongly suspect we won’t see any improvement in battery life.
Which is fine to me, since iPhone 11 Pro are already excellent in that regard.

They are doing the opposite of what Steve Jobs likes in making insanely great products and disrespected the legacy with a notch screen design on the iPhone.

Agreed if battery stays the same that’s fine with 5G 120hz
