so what will happen with the battery life with the thinner design? will it still be like long lasting battery lifes seen on iPhone 11 series?

what's the smart connector for?
iPhone 11 Pro Max battery:
"Lasts up to 5 hours longer
than iPhone XS Max"

iPhone 12 Pro Max battery:
"Lasts up to 1 hour longer
than your old iPhone 6s Plus"
[automerge]1587141746[/automerge]
"New colors could include light blue, violet, and light orange."

That I question -- The premium phones all have very conservative colors and the others have the 'fun & crazy' colors. I could see them for the iPhone 12 but not the 12 Pro.

They could've kept the body thickness the same while shrinking the camera so that they don't protrude out anymore...

I just hope we can get all the latest hardware and features into the smallest size screened phone.

I don’t buy a smaller screen phone to save more money or because I wouldn’t like to have the features, I buy it because it’s easier and more practical to use for me.
I really doubt the 5.4" model will get that. The Pro models will and they are limited to the 6.1" and 6.7" models.

Please give us this design for the 5.4"! As far as I'm concerned, I can do without the Pro camera features and 6.7" display, but I really want this design in a smaller formfactor. :)

Would make it an easy upgrade I think.
I really doubt that is happening. The Pro models will be the new 6.1" and 6.7" models. The other 6.1" model and the 5.4" models will not receive the flat edge design IMO.

This is the first rumor cycle I've ever seen where people actually like the design before release, by the way. Kinda weird not to see the majority wildly complaining about it and throwing around stuff like "Steve Jobs would have NEVER!"

Might size down this year but I know this is fantasy as I’ll preorder the max. Hopefully in black as those new colors sound kind of awful.
I downsized from the XS Max to 11 Pro... Honestly the best thing I done. Shame it looks like Apple will be killing this size with the 12 though 😩

I want the smallest phone 5.4” with this design and the best features. I prefer smaller phones as I find them more practical (personal preference)... but I know I’m asking too much 😭 gutted Apple may be killing the 5.8” screen size.

... Things that i’d like to see on the iphone 12 pro besides the flat edge design are:
...
3) I would prefer a usb-c connector to match my ipad pro so i only need to carry one charger while traveling. I may be in the minority, but i do not like a totally wireless future for the iphone. Carrying around a wireless charging mat while traveling seems to be more of a hassle then just plugging in to a charger i already use for my ipad pro.
...

You might be right about being in the minority but I’ll join you in that minority. My guess though is that Apple definitely are heading in that direction (totally wireless) and I’m sufficiently confident in that guess that I’m mentally preparing myself for it.

I take travelling light to the extreme so I’m hoping that we’ll see some really innovative designs for very compact wireless travel chargers coming out if/when Apple and other manufacturers make that transition. That might be the short to medium term development that takes away some of your and my concerns. In the longer term if the totally wireless concepts gets to virtually all phones, watches and other devices then maybe we’ll start seeing wireless charging pads popping up everywhere (in furniture, in the stands of TVs and lamps in hotel rooms, integrated into wall sockets, etc, etc).

Its hip to be square.... I'm leaning on this Iphone 12 Max coming from the Iphone 11... Depending on my employment status at launch

I am going to laugh at all the people who buy a 5G phone and wonder where the speed is and why they get crappy reception and battery life. The infrastructure is not ready and won’t be for several years. Even in the cities that have it completely ready in very small areas reliable high speed and such is not there. My friend who works for Crown Castle as a project manger for the mid Atlantic region says so many people are being deceived by promises and hype that just are not true. He installed the best system made and in testing 1 gig service in wide open test field only went out 450 feet. Every 50 feet speeds drop 250 MB’s. Then suddenly at 1040 feet it just dies. This the MW system. Any building or tree kills it completely. The mid bands are equal or slower then LTE gigabit system, low is equal to normal 4g. The biggest issue they see is the power required to maintain the signal. Equipment overheats and throttles out put. Or the system shuts down resulting in a tower going down. He said most of these issues are caused by regulatory actions and Manufacturers of phones rushing the production of phones for a system that is really not ready.

It appears the new 6.7" Max Pro will be a hot item. Can Apple also make it noticeably lighter? Maybe lighter == more sales

I would guess the smart connector is for a new Apple Pen. If the phone looks like a small iPad Pro it could also use the Pen.

Using Lidar for night vision could be a cool feature. See in the dark without the flashlight. Wearing Air Pods Pro while using Lidar night vision could enhance hearing.

If that is the final design, you can count me in. I absolutely love the squared-off edges (akin to iPhone 5(S) and SE).
I’ll be upgrading my iPhone 7 finally and finally have a phone that can do portrait photography and FaceID!

True. That seems to be the way things are moving. And wasn’t there suppose to be some wireless tech that is beamed thru the air like wifi that would constantly keep your devices charged if you were near the signal?

It’s not very iPad Pro feel, its very iPhone 5 feel. I knew they were going to revert back to that type of design when I first saw the 2018 iPad Pro. it’s a very Apple to play ping pong with their designs. In the words of Miranda Presley...”Ground breaking”...don’t get me wrong I’m still going to buy it.

Looks like a huge iPhone 5?

Smaller notch and bezels, sign me up. Guess this means the Max is staying the same physical size despite 0.2” more screen?

Also, that deep blue is purty.

I would take a brighter blue on the Max, but I'm guessing the blue violet and orange will be on the regular with junky navy on the Max. Navy will probably just look like black or dark gray like the MG on 11 Max :(

Why keep changing the screen size? These are too big 🥺
Yea I like the 11PM, but I think that is even enough for me. Just fits in my pocket now. When will enough be enough. Will we truly hit the meme where the iPXXX is larger than an iPad?

I really like the square edged look of my iPad Pro 11 and would love to see an iPhone to match it like the iPhone 5. One thing though; I find the iPhone very slippery and always end up having a case anyway so....

No, in the video he shows how the new design will be slightly taller and wider than the Pro Max. You can even see it at one point when he holds them up side by side.

Huh? Good luck fast charging your portless phone in an airport

That’s hardly normal usage now is it? Besides if people need to Charge at an Air port they would buy a battery case. I’ve never needed to charge at an airport why would you need to? The pros for one would last a full day easily anyway

I charge wirelessly everyday so for me a port less phone makes no difference

Apple certainly wouldn’t base their decision on a port less phone based off who may go to an airport
