To be fair, his (UK-MacAddict's) first line already indicates that he knows bending had occurred to others, so he certainly did not take the didn't-happen-to-me-so-didn't-happen stance. (Of course, he did blame the users themselves, but that's a different issue.)

I wouldn't worry how strong the case, users will always find ways to bend their phone and call it "bendgate"

This is a non-issue, invented by Apple..

It only bends because people do it... and since Apple listens to customers, they must strengthen the case.

My theory on this, is "just don't bend it" and u'll be fine. Don't plant ya butt down before u hear that crack. (no pun intended)

Obviously... it's not random. But it also does not mean it was a mass issue. Antennagate and bendgate appears to have affected a very small number of customers. However, I imagine they are taking steps to improve the sturdiness of the 6s to help eliminate any problems and provide a stronger phone.

I can't imagine any product manager who is on the ball not looking to improve this after market feedback. But it does not mean the current product didn't perform just fine or that there's any big apple cover-up. It's just product development.
Antenna gate was indeed a mass issue that affected every gsm iPhone 4, Apple had to give free cases to everyone to make up for it.

How about, just to make it stronger? Why did I upgrade from the original iPhone? The newer ones are just the same thing, but better.

Thing is, the original iPhone (or at least the 3G I had) WAS a far better device in-hand. Better shape, better size, impact resistant plastic - function has replaced form. The new iPhones don't feel comfortable in the hand, too thin and too wide to comfortably reach everything without stretching or shuffling position, power and volume buttons opposed so you naturally press one when you squeeze to press the other. The "design" has become all about the screen and the thickness.

Hopefully one day the smaller (less bezel rather than smaller screen) and thicker but more comfortable (and practical for battery size) shapes will make a comeback... :)

Really, so the change in screw placements based on these photos means a more structurally rigid iPhone? Like I said it's all guessing at this point. I'm sure Apple is continuously trying to improve their products, be it the materials they use or the manufacturing process.

I am not an engineer, I worked with someone who used to be an aeronautical engineer, and from discussion with him, yes minor changes can have major impacts !!! But go on pretend you know better ..... Cause you refuse to accept that bendgate ever existed? Or is an issue? Find an engineer and let them educate you.

Mate, I accepted a phone that thin, and large could bend. And you know what, mine has a slight bend all these months down the track. its a 6 plus, I could careless about the bloody bend as its constant freezing that makes it the worst phone to date, and apple redufuses to accept that is faulty from thier diagnostics! 4th genius appointment coming up, where no doubt another clueless "genius" will just run a set of diagnostics and conclude its fine, or blame the 1gb of ram, while at the same time the same backup on my 5s works with no issues.

The 1 gb ram since the 6s plus will no longer be an excuse for them. so stay tight

A stronger body is great but it's frustrating that changes like this have to come slowly in new models.

Better design and testing is required, I recently got an iphone 6 and less than two weeks in to using it daily there's a small dent in the back case. People talk like aluminium is a premium material and the unibody construction is revolutionary. If it can't survive living in a "looked after" pocket without a case then there's something seriously wrong - Crushable aluminium coke cans don't feel too premium to me either. To be honest, I'd rather a lighter, stronger, shock resistant plastic case than something that needs babying and external protection.
They should be using a rubberised, matte black coating - as should all electronic devices :)

a statement I entirely agreed with in my post :p

but thank you for only reading what you wanted to

but some phones did still bend under normal usage. Ignoring them, even if they are a slim minority of users, doesn't mean phones didn't bend. it's happening to just about all the manufacturers with these super slim devices
That depends on what normal usage means.

Can you treat it like an iPhone 5/5s? Ofcourse not, but if you did you could have issues.

Not sure why you think anyone is ignoring people that had issues. That is what Apple care is for and from what i know anyone who had issues got thier phones replaced.

Perhaps it was blown out of proportion but it unquestionably bends without excessive force. My iPhone 4 never had any issues with bending and I wasn't always gentle with it for 3 years. People complained the glass shattered, but I see shattered screens on every phone I see in the wild so calling out the iPhone seemed silly on that one.

My 5s is still in perfect condition after almost two years, again I don't actually baby it. If they don't make the 6s stronger than the 6, I'll wait until they make a more structurally stable phone. 7 hopefully?
how would you know since you admit to not having an iPhone 6 at all?

The key point of your statement is what you consider normal usage. Is this phone as strong as the iPhone 5 brick? No way

But that doesn't mean it is weak and not stable and any thinner phone will not be as strong the smaller phones.

I'm starting to see more and more posts about the freezing. My husband's iPhone 6 plus doesn't do that. Mine and my sister-in-law's do. I have 128 GB and she has 16 GB. Hers freezes even when she tries to make or receive phone calls. She got hers not long ago and she says unlike her 5s this has been buggy from the start and the worst phone she's ever owned.

There used to be no noticeable lag moving from portrait to landscape and now it freezes doing that and my camera often freezes up as well. Taking pictures is an exercise in frustration. I've purged nearly all my apps and am running just about ten apps now that are all updated and reputable. Anyway it's acting like an android phone. I don't want to have to wipe it clean and start over but it looks like I'm going to have to.

I'm also tired of having just the gray, silver and gold options. I look at the iPod Touch colors with envy and longing. Heck, I'm looking at the nasty Xiaomi copycats in their bright colors with envy.

It's nice that the S series is going to have the rumored improvements it has. But I wish they'd do that ONE MORE THING and jazz it up a little by getting us out of the color rut. I see no reason to make us wait for the 7's for that. At least give us a (Product)Red. Okay that's my contribution to the gripe fest! ;)

My god you people need to get your heads out of the sand. They wouldn't spend time and money fixing a non issue to placate a few people. It was an issue and they know it. They are fixing it this time around. Does Apple send you instructions on how to love your daily lives? Just curious.[/QUOTE
Isn't the Iphone6 the biggest selling iPhone of all time?
I bet samsung would love those numbers!
I have an iPhone 6 and its great! I think people need to stop sitting on their phones!

Not every bent iPhone is the result of people sitting on them. I nearly bent mine trying to remove it from a rigid tight fitting case.

My husband's iPad retina mini bent one day. He noticed it but he never did figure out how it happened as it is an iPad that is hand carried, not a phone kept in a pocket or holder in a car or tossed in a bag and certainly never sat on. He simply unbent it and has kept on using it.

so we are in complete 100% agreement.

the iPhone 6 was 'bendier' than the 5/5s. Some people, doing exactly the same behaviour, with the 6, as they had done previously, would end up with bent phones.

that is all I am saying.

Which in turn, is what "Bendgate" was about. Was it blown out of proportion? Yes. Did it happen? YES.
and hopefully Apple dealt with it properly. Unfortunately, there are a few cases (even here, there are people who had it happen to), where Apple told then "tough".

so, I'm not sure what you're denying.

and WHY did it happen? cause they went super thin, while not building up additional rigidity, especially in places around even thinner areas like the volume rocker. this is a design flaw. even if it's a tiny one

I have to admit that my phone was okay when i first bought it, and with every version of IOS 8, its just gotten worse. I have to say this is the worst iphone I have ever owned, and having bought a 128GB version, I am quite ****** off, as I am relactant to sell a lemon to someone else to upgrade to a 6S. Unless apple can sort this issue out, I am not about to reward them by buying a 6S given how much I spent on a lemon 6 Plus 128. Having owned every iphone made, I can accept a phone that is slow at time, but not a top spec model freezing......

Unless you get apple care +, bending the phone is not covered under standard apple care. And even under apple care +, the customer has to pay....
