I have not switched from iPhone and probably won't due to ecosystem. But I agree, stale and boring. iOS is just the same. Forever. The same.

Why is everyone obsessed with novelty? Not innovation, mind you, merely novelty.

No iOS has not "arrived", but it does what it does pretty damn well at this point, and allows me to do a lot of things I couldn't do before the iPhone came along.

Don't get me wrong, if there are innovations that make it even more useful, great, but I'd rather stick with a good phone and OS that works well than jump the gun on gizmos and eye candy.

Changing the placement of a few screws makes for a stronger body? One its all speculation and two I would assume the layout inside of the 6S won't be exactly the same as the 6 so different screw placement wouldn't be surprising.

Changing where a hole is drilled in the body can completely change its strength. Especially given that most were bending around the volume area where the cutouts are. Having the screw holes in the body and the cutouts in the same spot probably made for a much weaker spot than anticipated. They make mistakes like anyone else. And they also don't admit them like anyone else.

Just like the battery recall that you wouldn't even know about if it weren't for fan pages like this. They sure as hell didn't email anyone they knew was affected. Not like they couldn't or anything, they know every device connected to every email out there. Instead they quietly admitted they had an issue with batteries that literally weeks before they were saying we're not problematic. It's just dirty, Like every single other corporation in the world. I just want people to stop blindly following apple assing that they are perfect and do no wrong ever. It's annoying.

But in this case, they did address it - to a proper level, that's subjective to each individual. But when they did, they had stated there were 9 official instances... and then we had people showing up in stores and breaking their property on video to try and prove a point... and some of their billboard ads made it comical as they wrapped around curves or right angles giving it the appearance of bent phones.

Given the small number reported initially, I'd imagine that number has grown by several factors of 10 -- but nothing as gigantic as blogs wanted it to be... could it be a change in aluminum and the milling process to improve strength? Sure. But it also may just be an improved process they're capitalizing on as they're moving forward to incorporate a different metal, as rumored from the Watch. Nobody knows that, other than those making the decisions.

I'm not obsessed with novelty at all it's just that iOS is boring me. It's boring. Not entirely sure what would make it not boring for me to be honest. Likely nothing, we are all used to it now so the fun factor is probably just gone. I'm generally more interested in apps anyways.

What your talking about has nothing to do with bendgate.

Bendgate was about a major defect that was going to affect a high percentage of iPhone 6/6 plus models. This never materialize because it was trumped up garbage.
a statement I entirely agreed with in my post :p

but thank you for only reading what you wanted to

but some phones did still bend under normal usage. Ignoring them, even if they are a slim minority of users, doesn't mean phones didn't bend. it's happening to just about all the manufacturers with these super slim devices

Are you kidding me, still these ugly couch-potato colors and ugly bands?

Because the iPhone 6/S is so overpriced I wouldn't even pay more to add custom black coat/painting.

I really rooted for this iPhone 6S (under the right, erf no, decent specs conditions) but I think this is it for me and my company switching away.

I love how you people think Apple put the plastic bands there just for fun.

Go buy a new 6th gen iPod Touch if you don't want the bands, because that's how the iPhone would function without them.

I will not be keeping my 6 Plus when the new models are available. It's just too big for a phone. I got caught up in the phablet hype bandwagon. I switched my choice at the last minute. I stuck with it a bit at first. Then it was too late.

There are things to like. The display is fantastic. Optical image stabilization is good, not great. The battery life is unreal. But It's just too unwieldy for me and I'm an above average sized guy—not big but yeah, above average. I regret it every day. The internal components can barely handle the 2208px @3X resolution scaling to 1080p. I experience lots of crashes, stuttering of the UI animations, and often can't even keep two tabs loaded at once which means I can't even switch between tabs when filling out a form (or writing on MacRumors) without losing everything. It was also very slippery, so if I'm understanding this article correctly, it seems like they're going to texturize the surface some more for the next version? That would be welcome, but honestly I'm probably just going to get a case.

Speaking of cases, my red Apple leather case has not worn well. I understand that leather wears but the wearing usually gives it character and is flattering. Not so with whatever leather Apple uses. It's just a shame since it's so expensive. Overall It's a decent case and feels nice but it just looks like crap now. I'll either get the black one (which doesn't seem to wear as poorly) for the 6S or a third party case. I mean it was just everything with this iPhone—overall this has been by far my least favorite iPhone experience and I've owned just about all of them.

So yeah, I'm definitely counting down the days to launch. My money is on September 18th, which is 62 days. Unless the rumored earlier unveiling event happens in August, which for some reason this year doesn't seem entirely out of the question. So in that case it would probably launch on September 4th, but I doubt it? They've been really consistent in recent years but I feel like Apple occasionally likes to disrupt their pattern once people start to perceive it as a pattern so who knows. Maybe if I wish hard enough it will happen early!

Interesting that Apple took the "it is a non-issue" approach with the whole bend-gate thing yet they are doing this. Much welcomed but my 6 Plus bent and they wouldn't replace it saying it was my fault.
I hate to say this and I will say this respectfully to you: stop supporting iPhone

Get android and I'm not being sarcastic.

I didn't see anywhere in his post of him saying that.

Bendgate was from those who treated their phones carelessly not an issue with the phone itself.

My iPhone 6 Plus from launch is fine. Its been in slim fit jeans and in my pocket on long drives or in the cinema for a couple of hours and no bending.

It would be good to see the camera flush again rather than poking out. Antenna lines are unavoidable unless you want degraded signal.

Uhhh ok

I'm surprised nobody is talking about the Apple logo that's been cut out, perhaps paving the way for an illuminated logo? I don't see it cut out in the current model case... https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone+6+Plus+Teardown/29206

Just look at the second photo, the current model case is on the right and the hole is there. The apple logo is applied later because is made of steel or liquid metal to make it shinier. It is the same for iPads

How about, just to make it stronger? Why did I upgrade from the original iPhone? The newer ones are just the same thing, but better.

What did they need to make stronger if there was no problem before? "Making it stronger" would indicate that it wasn't strong enough to begin with and there was something that needed correcting.

Or the Apple fanatics can bury their head in the sand and worship Apple again.

Apple isn't perfect, they make mistakes and they have proven enough times in the past they don't like to admit to problems.

This. Like I said before Apple wouldn't spend one single penny to fix something or make it better on a refresh cycle unless they had to. Not. One. Penny. No issue equals no money spent.

Obviously I may be exaggerating slightly. Off cycle R&D, equipment refreshes, engineering work, materials procurement. This stuff costs tons. You don't just change something that's working for s's and g's when you have millions of them to change. Even the smallest change probably costs in the millions. They aren't just changing paper in a printer.
