I didn't even read the thread. I just haven't posted here in a while and wanted to point out the fact that this image is fake.

There is no reason for mini-DVI, just... none. That doesn't even make sense. On top of that, Firewire 800? No. Not happening.

These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along. Move along.

Sure there is reason for the mini-DVI. With the Mac Mini, users need a monitor. If they only went with mini-DisplayPort, users would be limited to the 24" LED backlit Apple display. When you are selling a $599 machine, it would be stupid to force buyers into an $899 monitor. By including the mini-DVI, users can still use older monitors that are far less expensive. It is sort of a transitional product offering, giving people the choice of the newer technology or the older.

(Before anyone says anything about the new MacBooks having only mini-DisplayPort, well you don't NEED an external monitor, unlike the Mini.)

dont forget that you can get the converter cables, say mini-DisplayPort to DVI, or something similar... so you never know.

I am excited. And disappointed at the same time.

Disappointed:
The mini will have the same footprint. I was hoping they made the unit larger to enclose the PSU and perhaps have some expandability options. Nope. Same size, same looks, same mini! This is nothing more than a hardware update as far as I am concerned.

Excited:
The mini supposedly will have an upgraded GPU. That is reason to celebrate. I also prefer the lack of HDMI! No point to HDMI.

Hoping:
I would positively like to see BluRay as an option on the new mini.

I don't understand the point to the mini as is, though I will be getting one the minute it comes out. But they seem to be all obsessed with making it as small as possible. When they already have that market addressed with the iMac. It seems the Mini should be the link between the iMac and Mac Pro and they've missed the boat. As it is now, the mini is a glorified :apple:TV! A redundant product that overlaps :apple:TV and iMac. Make the mini bigger and allow for expandability.

I could see Apple including a video adapter with the Mac mini so that it could connect to another display connector. There's NO reason for them to include both mini-DVI and mini-DisplayPort.

Trust me, that is not the new Mac mini. It will most likely have a different casing than the current.
BluRay is more likely to happen on a Mac Pro, definitely not on the mini, it's a low end desktop.
If they allowed for more expandability, it would probably be more expensive, thus almost making it's reason for being pointless due to the fact that it's sold as a cheap low end machine.

There is another option for 15 USB ports!!!!!

WOW! Amazing!
How about we add in some FireWire? Some = Crap load.
Nobody would be complaining then!:p

Sorry guys, but my friends at cupertino have informed me that USB is now a bag of hurt and that this is what we will be getting.

WOW. That's exactly what we've all been waiting for! 1 PS/2 port is the way to go!!! Now... there's one... how do we plug in a mouse AND keyboard. And due to the current Apple keyboards and mice having USB, I suspect we will also see new keyboards and mice.

That's not PS/2 bro...

Not that I automatically see this image as legitimate, but I don't see any conclusive reasoning from you why it should be fake..

I'd buy one if it came in a $399 model. I'd buy a wireless keyboard and mouse from Apple if then. ;)

I know, people don't get the joke at all.

It's really a shame. I spent 5 minutes of my life to make a funny.

Apple actually did that with the B&W G3s so you could still connect the funky old beige keyboards and mice. Probably the last time they ever bothered with maintaining backwards compatibility with their own hardware.

A serial port would be cool though to connect my eMate.

it would be a good idea to use the Magisafe power plug even though it's not necessary so that it would be compatible with the new displays.

But i'll bet they don't

A pity.

(BTW, that is fake ...me thinks)

White plastic?

Right there it should be obvious that this is a fake. After not updating for 2 years wouldn't it be evident that they would move to a silver + shiny black look to match the unibody portables and the new LED display lineup? Why would they move everything to silver & shiny black and just leave the mini the same old white? Makes no sense.
