I really don't get the love fest with Blu Ray. I'd much rather throw my media on a 1TB hard drive with an HDMI output, like what LaCie and WD are making. I hate dealing with disks.

I say....you are a 400 pound transvestite.

wonderbutt, I don't know if you're trollin' or not, but that made my day. Thank you.

@the guy who suggested te $2499 Mac mini, you just redesigned the Mac Pro. Congrats.

I nearly pulled the trigger on the NVidia whitebook today I'm so sick of waiting for the Mini, .....just, and I mean just managed not too.

I would be nice if Apple would tell the public SOMETHING. Its a lousy way to treat loyal buyers.

Out of all computer companies in the world, Apple would be the last one and least likely to tell their costumers about anything.

It's interesting that they're willing to preview a lot of details of upcoming software releases and none at all about future hardware. Obviously HW is their bread-and-butter, but the difference in attitude is still like night and day.

How can you move around high definition video material? By caring your hard disks with you?

Because that's no different than carrying stacks of disks in cases around...

And what about if you want to play, let’s say your recent honeymoon video you have edited on your Mac, at a friend’s place where no PC or Mac exists but only a Blu-ray player? I don’t think that everybody uses computers for watching movies in the living room.

You burn it to a DVD.

Aside: How much 1080p VC-1 video can one Blu-ray disk hold?

'Kay.

So you burn it to a DVD. You'd really watch nine hours of honeymoon video with a friend? Either a good friend, or there needs to be some editing done.

Even for 30min HD video, you still need a blu-ray disk. The only way to watch HD video from a DVD is by using special video file formats like .mkv, but then you still need a PC to play it.

So you use a dual-layer disk and AVCHD and get an hour. That's a good honeymoon movie size for privublic viewing.

(private in that it's being shown in a residence, public in that you're watching it with friends).

Most DVD players don't play HD formats like AVCHD. Besides, when you go you your friend, you don't only bring homemade/honeymoon movies to watch.

You said that they only had a Blu-ray player. Problem solved.

I'm truncating my argument to fit your situation and you're abandoning the situation. This makes it difficult for me to keep up. :p
