Wow - this is terrible.

I've seen real mobile phone testing racks. Either this is fake, or these people have no idea of what they're doing.

Agreed. I don't believe that testing of an Apple product would be done using a bunch of adapters plugged into power strips, with phones and cables in a tangled mess.

imagine if one of those chargers were generic.

There's a reason it appears to be in an oven. :)

I work for Verizon. And I can assure you, this is exactly what testing looks like, unfortunately.

Even during production? Looks extremely inefficient. I've been in facilities where electronic medical equipment was being tested, and it was much more organized.

Charging before testing ?

To me, it looks like a bunch of phones being given an initial charge before testing. If the battery has no charge, you just get a battery outline with a thin red strip on the left. So the phones need a little charge before function testing.

Looks fake honestly Lol. I don't care either way. The phone is coming soon and I won't be getting that one...

I highly doubt this is fake. someone would have to go through an awful lot of work or have an awful lot of money to fake this.

I'm going to post my crazy, yet fun, idea. They aren't a iPhone 5c. They are actually the new iPod touch with data connectivity, just like the ipad.

This makes it seem like the iPhone 5C will only e launching for the Chinese market, and not everyone else. Yet MacRumors keeps reporting that the 5C will replace the 5.

Nobody knows which markets will sell the 5c although it was designed for the emerging markets (china, etc.). Even if it is sold outside China, I think many people will be disappointed that the only configuration is probably 16GB.

And I don't believe we even know what they're testing, or whether they're just recharging them all, or testing recharging, or, or, or...

...according to the original poster's Sina Weibo profile, that the shot was taken at a Pegatron plant in Shanghai, China and that she apparently joined Pegatron's quality control department in mid-July.

"The low-end iPhone 5C to be launched for Chinese consumers in September doesn't look much different than the Xiaomi Phone 2, right?"

I'm worried that this is how Chinese consumers will perceive the iPhone 5C. I'm disappointed that the 5C isn't more attractive; the black screen is bothersome and the body is uninteresting. Even the sheen on the plastic looks low end. I don't think Chinese consumers care about the Apple ecosystem... i doubt they own an ipad, or mac book, and i'd be surprised if they pay for apps or music. I don't think they care much about ios simplicity, software updates, or Androids fragmentation. Fortunately i think it's likely that the iPhone 5S will garner enough admiration as a fashion statement with Chinese buyers that they'll buy a 5C.

Maybe Apple should partner with weibo or wechat or some insanely popular app in china to roll out new features on their app that only work on ios.

I've seen factories where they tested cheap chinese flash based MP3 players and they did the same thing as this. Same shelving with the metal bars for holding the product, ac strips with AC to USB adapters then plugged all the players in and left them there to charge up.

It is to me unusual and you would think that they would invest in PCB Backplanes to do the testing but I've only ever seen testing like that with specific charging boards to hold hundreds of product in production lines well after the product has been established and in the market for some time.

If I had to guess I'd say this picture is from an early stage production run before they design and manufacture specific charging equipment.

The lack of NFC in the rumors disappoints me. Considering how pretty much everything leaks these days, we basically know the whole next iPhone package. I would love to be surprised come September 10th. But I have no hope.

I guess it'll be in the phone a year from now.

Obviously fake.

Some are being charged with Lightning adapters and some are being charged with a larger, non Apple charger.

There is even a, "phone" THAT ISN'T EVEN PLUGGED IN!

Come on people...

Why are half the plugs different?

Completely agree with you, normally iPhones are strictly handled by unicorns with golden horseshoes. :)

Just kidding, yet really thats the best one can imagine inside the fox hole that is Foxconn
