I'm worried that this is how Chinese consumers will perceive the iPhone 5C. I'm disappointed that the 5C isn't more attractive; the black screen is bothersome and the body is uninteresting. Even the sheen on the plastic looks low end. I don't think Chinese consumers care about the Apple ecosystem... i doubt they own an ipad, or mac book, and i'd be surprised if they pay for apps or music. I don't think they care much about ios simplicity, software updates, or Androids fragmentation. Fortunately i think it's likely that the iPhone 5S will garner enough admiration as a fashion statement with Chinese buyers that they'll buy a 5C.

Maybe Apple should partner with weibo or wechat or some insanely popular app in china to roll out new features on their app that only work on ios.

When did Apple release an iPhone 5C? I can't seem to find it anywhere on their website.

Wow - this is terrible.

I've seen real mobile phone testing racks. Either this is fake, or these people have no idea of what they're doing.

What's more terrible is how bad those iPhones look. They just look as bad as any generic Android handset.

I work for Verizon. And I can assure you, this is exactly what testing looks like, unfortunately.

Sure, it can look like that in an operator environment. Seen that too; but that doesn't:

a) make it right

b) apply to a manufacturer

Manufacturers need to be working to a higher standard here.

i would believe this is a photo of one of those iPhone clones being tested, already updated with a plastic case to copy the unreleased 5C.

Even during production? Looks extremely inefficient. I've been in facilities where electronic medical equipment was being tested, and it was much more organized.

There are differences between in-production testing and design and prototype testing or small batch testing. This is obviously not a setup for high-throughput in-production testing of all handsets.

Guys, is it just me? Or does 5c seem like the new lumias lineup? They are strikingly similar to my eyes

Lots own iPads but all their MacBooks exclusively run Windows XP/7 :p there is a massive segment of the population that earn 2000-4000 rmb a month but will save up all their money to buy a smartphone. Sure they could buy a xiaomi or a huawei for 2000 rmb but they're a POS (and you're right they seem to care very little about how the phone performs or the ecosystem) but the brand allure of the apple logo alone will push them to pay ~4000 rmb for one. Either that or a galaxy note type monstrosity - but that's another topic entirely!

The lack of NFC in the rumors disappoints me.

Practically no-one uses NFC. There have been some tests with actual uses in the USA and Europe, but without large scale success. The small number of people and organisations that do use it doesn't justify the investment to include it, especially when it's on the path to obsolescence. Why invest in hardware when the same result can be achieved with an App?

This is interesting for you I guess:

Yeah... are you qualified to make that statement? Exactly how many phones have you produced and tested? Yeah, exactly.

Though not the best "looking" way to test phones if it gets the job done what's you issue with the way it's done? Let me guess Steve wouldn't approve?

FINALLY the evidence we need that there really is a 5C! 'Cause up to this point it was a confusing mess!

Thank you internets, I salute you!

Mission Accomplished! Major spy operations have ended, MacRumors and their allies have prevailed!
What are you talking about? IF you needed more proof than pictures, parts, rumors already out there then you're a very hard person to convince.

Obviously fake.
Some are being charged with Lightning adapters and some are being charged with a larger, non Apple charger.
There is even a, "phone" THAT ISN'T EVEN PLUGGED IN!
Come on people...

Fake....Ummmm ok. Keep dreaming and hoping... after all that you'll still be wrong.

Apple is one of the biggest and most known brand in the world. A lot of people in China (and around the world) want iPhones, if only because of the brand appeal, but can't afford them. It's possible that the appeal is lower in China, but given its very large population that still means millions of potential sales.

The iPhone 5C might not be cheap enough to reach every possible market, but it will be cheap enough to reach millions of new customers in poorer countries.

BTW Weibo is being integrated into iOS 7, along with many other popular Chinese services.

Black front on the white model?

Hmm...

What context is the "hmm..." in?

"Hmm I dont like how it looks"?

"Hmm I don't think it's real"?

If its the 2nd case it's still plausible. The white 3GS had a black front.

Very dissapointing colour combination. Given all the hype lately I was led to believe that 'Orange Is The New Black'.......

Fake. Second shelf far back. What a lovely Ice Cream Sandwich device (wallpaper and you can see a little bit of the dock).
