Apple better have gotten it right with the iPhone this time around if they're this close to production.

That means they need to add more file space, more system memory, an even higher resolution screen and better battery life.

If not.. they're gonna fail, hard. Apple has had plenty of time to listen and study the success and shortcomings of the iPhone for a while now.

Like many manufacturers Apple makes money selling hardware. The amount of real changes to iPhone will trickle in year after year. This causes the masses to want to upgrade. I still have my original model because I thought the improvements weren't enough to switch. By the time the next model comes out I will be ready.

The bottom of the o and e look to be flat. I'd hope that a real apple iphone back would not have that sort of printing (photoshop) error

That is made out of plastic, i guarantee it.

I'm in that industry and it has all the makings of a plastic injection moulded component.

All the finish and feels are very easily possible with plastic. And i'd say reasonably cheaper too, also it would feel better to hold and yes, give better reception.

You can also slightly see through the edges where the camera will be, plastic...

Just give me a front camera to video-chat with Skype and I'll be waiting in line for the first time in my life!

:D

Here's to hoping it comes in a CDMA Verizon version :)

I wish people would finally understand the fact that there will be no CDMA-version of the iPhone. Apple focuses on GSM, and that makes sense, since it's the global de facto standard.

Of course there will be. Why would Apple limit itself to just GSM when it can have the best of both worlds like any other phone manufacturer? Doesn't make any sense.

Fake!

I'll go with shopped. You can clearly see what looks to be some very poor use of the cloning tool!

Because CDMA is peanutsvwhen compared to GSM? Because they would much rather focus on one model, as opposed to splitting their focus on two models? Because GSM works everywhere, whereas CDMA does not?

There will be no CDMA-iPhone. It would be duplication of effort, and utter waste.

My take:

This looks real. Just like last year when the real black shiny back of the 3G was posted in April (look at the resurrected thread at the top of the forum).

This looks plastic. Not ceramic or anything like that. There is more texturing on the inside - not sure why - almost looks like machining.

Just because this is a 16 GB doesn't mean there won't be a new 32 GB option as well. Last year, the spy photo was of an 8 GB, and we ended up with an 8 and a 16. I believe Apple can get 32 in one chip now - a constraint before.

This case has exactly the same shape and screw holes as the current 3G. That tells me what I expected all along: no radical change in the phone design. It makes total sense. Apple is only going to advance this phone as fast as they need to to keep with their sales objectives. They don't need an entirely new phone to capture lots of sales. I do expect a pretty big bump in the OS for all of us, and that is what I think we all truly want.

So this case, if true, would allow for things like better battery life, faster processor, more RAM, better camera (but probably no autofocus). A higher res screen is possible but I doubt it. Certainly no slide-out keyboards in the works here - unless they have a separate, entirely new line as well.

those are milling marks.

i may be in the minority here, but i think this thing will be coming out in march / april. at wwdc i can see them spending alot of time talking about snow leopard and the iphone platform, not taking up time talking about a new product.

Small camera hole. Probs gonna be a 2mp again

They could easily do a 3.2 or even a 4 mp camera with roughly the same size hole. Just look at the BB Storm as an example. Its camera looks to be about the same size yet it's a 3.2 mp.

Of course there will be. Why would Apple limit itself to just GSM when it can have the best of both worlds like any other phone manufacturer? Doesn't make any sense.

Because they don't need to. Apple is not "any other phone manufacturer."

Those as said before are milling marks. This means that the tool is not yet finished as apple haven't approved the final tooling design. Infact they may still exist in the final version of the case.

Why would they take a step back and have to put that crappy little plastic bit back on the case. Plastic makes so much more sense so just deal with the fact that its plastic!!

I really like this forum because it reflects that apple fanatics blindness to a 100 percent.

There's an image of a piece of plastic/metal/whatever with an apple logo on it, and people are yelling "oh my god, that's amazing!!!"

it would be nice...

Well, it would be nice, but I would prefer to have an iPhone in iPhone-chromatic... Sort of a matte black (looks great....i want one), a aluminium one (to go with all those nice high end cinema displays) and a white one, after all, skins sell well, so why not make the phone those colours?

There will be a hissy fit (at least from me) if there isn't a 32GB model... My 8GB phone just isn't cutting it, especially if I want more than one app that needs a decent amount (10MB+) of space.

Then buy the 16GB???

If it's all aesthetic upgrade, I'm keeping my 1st gen iPhone. Most of my wants for the next iPhone can all be satisfied via software upgrade if only apple would listen.

yes not only does the quality inside that case look rubbish (milling marks etc.) but I can't see apple releasing an iPhone as well as Snow Leopard. They would want to concentrate on one big product...

I rather like that.
If theres a 32gb option and lighter than the current iPhone it might tip me over the buying edge.

What happened to the ceramic theory? Zirconia is very strong, scratch proof and is transparent to radio waves.

What a great suggestion - buy a 16GB iPhone and get locked into another 18/24 month contract when it is fairly evident that there are updates coming in the summer and new, higher memory modules that are being produced this year.:rolleyes:

I don't need a new iPhone, I want one... So I'm waiting till juneish whenever it's supposed to be, and getting the new phone then. Hopefully it will be 32GB.

Apple, where are the laminated solar cells??? Com'on now. Make periodic recharging a thing of the past. Please!
