Apologies if this has been pointed out, but is that a double-sided camera hole? As in maybe for front side video conferencing added to regular camera?
It is the the inside of the back cover you are looking at. No guts in it.

Ok, you're going to have to explain what a "single sided hole" would be.
It goes all the way through the plastic, yes. That's what makes it a hole. The current iPhone back is no different.
Actually I dont care matte or shiny back... Still looks fat... If is it the new iPhone I cant never buy... When will be iPhone thin just like iPod Touch 2G I can buy then....
Man, it seems like just yesterday that I was huddled outside the AT&T store at 2 a.m., trying to stay warm in the freezing rain, thinking about my upcoming iPhone 3G. Guess I'll be doing it all over in June...
...But the back of the original iPhone was sooo slick - marking the first handheld product for which I purchased a case...
A single-sided hole would be a black hole. The miniature black hole will provide life-time power and illumination for the iPhone and other objects in the vicinity. I can see this posing a disposal problem.
Ah, see that's where you went wrong. We're a two iPhone family, so *I* upgraded to a 3G while my wife kept her EDGE model. This summer, we'll upgrade her phone and then we'll swap phones. This way I'm always eligible for an upgrade every year. And doesn't look like we'll be apple to upgrade cheaply since our 3Gs were subsidized (unlike original iPhone owners.)
Very interesting. Do I see an indication of a ring around the camera opening which could possibly be for an LED flash, or am I seeing things?
Totally agree.Hardware details to focus on:
- Better battery
- Better camera
- Higher resolution screen
- More Ram so that Safari doesn't crash while I'm listening to music
- Better antenna for better reception
- Haptic feedback
Apple better have gotten it right with the iPhone this time around if they're this close to production.
That means they need to add more file space, more system memory, an even higher resolution screen and better battery life.
If not.. they're gonna fail, hard. Apple has had plenty of time to listen and study the success and shortcomings of the iPhone for a while now.
