If the pro models don’t have a 120hz screen then there isn’t much point upgrading from my 10S Max.
This year's models are looking like a huge design overhaul but a very minor feature upgrade.
Nope. “Touting” is a strong word. “Mention” 5g they will, imo. Apple will “tout” the features that depend on the neural engine and a14. Battery life, camera and hidden features from iOS 14.
That better not be true, at least not noticeably!arranging the components of the TrueDepth camera system more "tightly," but at the cost of increasing its height
Is Tim Cook really more stubborn than Steve Jobs on things like this? it's hard to believe honestly, but apparently so.
I’d like to see a source that says it will (drain the battery faster)...outside of a poor implementation.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about a new iPhone anymore? Its always the same.
- Faster CPU
- Better camera
- Better Battery-life
...I think I am gonna be stuck with my 10S Max for a long time.
So another round of camera improvements - I don't know about most people but I don't do anything intensive enough on my phone to warrant the ever-incrementing processor improvements, despite how technically impressive they are.
I wish there was an iPhone without a camera. I’m of the older generation that doesn’t feel the need to take pictures of my dinner or of my face interfering with a scenic view all the bl**dy time. They can do an iPhone Max Narcissist model for that.
Judging by the replies in this thread and others, it should be easy to get a Pro Max on release date. Reality might be different though. Will be trading my 11 Pro Max for a 12 Pro Max and looking forward to it no matter how much others may think its not worth it.
It most certainly will not!which will be covered by a case anyway)
It most certainly will not!
On the flip side, to take Apple to where it is today, proves the "social cause butterfly" Tim has what it takes in terms of drive, vision. Ya'll can criticize and nitpick on Tim's management style but the universe does not agree with this. It's not an accident that Apple is where it is and Tim is leading Apple giving their overall customer base what they are looking for...even if some don't agree, and others have claimed to go over to Android.Steve may have been stubborn but he had fantastic ideas, gut feel, love for the product, and market intuition. It may have worked for him not listening to user research because he was already ahead of the curve. Tim clearly has no ideas or vision of his own, and plays it extremely safe by repeating the same devices for the last 9 years with annual spec boosts and feature culling for extra Genius Bar/dongle revenue, while being a social cause butterfly dreaming of making TV series rather than great hardware and software. What’s stubborn is that he carries on without listening to his users’ screaming needs, now also having the plot armor of too-big-to-fail Apple.

If this info is accurate, it looks like the battery for the mini me might be on par with the new SE.
Do you have a source for that info?
You're flat out ignoring the 6/7 to X display changes and FaceID, the Apple Watch, iPad Pro line, Apple Pencil, etc.Steve may have been stubborn but he had fantastic ideas, gut feel, love for the product, and market intuition. Some of those same 5g phones have 120mhz+ displays. So it's tough to know why exactly a bigger battery is needed. But it seems to me, and why I asked, that getting more data faster in a shorter period of time is the equivalent of getting the same data amount at a slower speed in a longer period of time in terms of battery usage.Power consumption of 5G phones is about 20% more than 4G phones. 5G is faster and is going to put more stress on the phone hence the battery drain. Its common knowledge that 5G is a bigger drain on a phones battery than 4G. Its why manufacturers continue to put larger batteries in 5G phones and why the iPhone battery this year will most likely be larger.
Are you still hanging with your X for a while? Is this still a phone or a digital camera?

Right, but both radios aren't active at the same time...are they?Adding an additional radio is always going to increase the battery drain. Unless it’s something like RFID that can draw power from the environment.

I get what you are saying, but I don't think it's that cut and dry. We'll actually have to see use cases and battery tests to confirm, a hypothetical scenario of this: "how much battery is sacrificed in downloading 1 gig..from LTE from 5G? Within that, fringe reception scenarios, couple of bars, full bars, mmwave vs sub-6...vs wifi. Lots of nuances.Turn LTE off on your iPhone and watch how much your battery improves.
