Differentiating the “Max” from the regular Pro is interesting, if a bit disappointing.
Yea I do hope this rumor is false, because this is exactly what I didn't want them to do. Don't want the 6.7" if they did nothing to shrink other things to keep the body size close but don't want to miss a feature either.

I’m hoping Apple has worked with developers and will show us what Lidar can do (besides placing furniture in a room).
I really don’t think at this point, it’s gained any traction with your average consumer.

Ohhhhh don't you worry they're gearing up to show off placing APPLIANCES in a room (!)

I thought the whole purpose of the Premium iPhone line was to give users the most amount of premium features? Then you get to choose if you want those features in the smaller or larger size?

Both the Xs/Max and 11 Pro/Max models had the exact same features with the obvious exception of screen size and battery size.

Why start fragmenting again? I don’t believe it. I think the more likely scenario is that no iPhone 12 models have the LiDAR thing.
Yea they haven't pulled this feature only crap on +/Max since the 8.

Because it's black and disappears into your peripheral vision.

I understand the argument that it's asymmetrical when in landscape mode, but I've had an iPhone 11 for eight months and watched video plenty of times and never feel particularly annoyed.

First, I don't see how a hole-punch camera looks less stupid than a notch. I feel like it would bother me even more. It's right there in the middle, rather than at the edge.

Second, that doesn't give room for the other sensors. Really, if you don't want the notch, what you want them to do is to increase the bezel entirely on that edge. And if you want that to be symmetrical, they'll have to do it on the other side as well, for no reason other than aesthetics.

How you don't get irked by crippled status bar?

That does indeed bug me a bit, though not as much as I would’ve expected. Maybe once or twice a week. And when it does? I pull down Control Center, and there’s the full one.

I’m more irked by things like the new Reachability gesture, or the wobbliness of the 11. The notch, not much.

Yeah, Cook has only added $1.2 trillion to Apple in the single largest value creation of any CEO in history. Totally incompetent.
One day you will learn, hopefully before you’re too far along in life, that money means NOTHING once one can meet one’s basic needs in life.

FaceID Never fails me while on TouchID I used a short and therefore somewhat insecure Passcode cuz I had to type it in ALL the time.

also it took me like 5 minutes to get used to the notch. I don’t even see it like what’s the difference between a notch, that at least gives u useable space on both sides compared to the big as bezel we used to have pre X
I agree FaceID works awesome, but put it in the bezel or frame. Don’t ruin the user interface visibility so terribly. These reasons are why the design team doesn’t like working at Apple anymore. Nobody in the executive team gives two pennies for their work or the fascination of bringing great design. Ive left and he was the best thing ever at Apple since Jobs. Now, Ive needed a counterpart in Forstall to ensure software & hardware worked together by what is capable design given the hardware and software constraints necessary.

On a MacBook Pro, Ive made a terrible decision that wasn’t possible due to engineering as in cooling and etc. But with time, the amazing engineering at Apple’s SoC will create amazing thinness. Still, most professionals prefer proper engineering with design as a secondary nature of the beast. Right now, I would take a better OS that isn’t as bad as Catalina. Really has problems.

I think we need someone at the helm who cares just as much about product as he does about anything else. Design is extremely important to me as long as I don’t compromise key features. I don’t care how Apple implements FaceID/TouchID or any other ID as long as it works without ruining something as necessary as a method to visualize and utilize the display.

I wish death to the notch. I don’t care how they do it. But it needs to be done. It is a travesty in 2020 that we have four years of this monstrosity. I would gladly take a small symmetrical bezel that eliminates the notch. Think iPad Pro 2018/2020. Shrink that down. The 2020 iPhone is shaping up to be nothing more than 5G added to the same old interface flaws on iOS that plainly sucks. For $1.5T in value, and a plethora of engineers, someone should be able to knock some since into Cook that product designs and interface matter too!

You're talking about individuals. Baymowe335 is talking about a company. Big difference. A good CEO isn't content with just "getting by." They're always wanting to grow and improve the company, including revenue. The point is, your evaluation of Tim Cook is a highly personal bias and not shared by anyone evaluating Tim's performance from a business standpoint. Despite what you may think, I'm convinced he cares deeply about the company. Obviously not everyone will agree with every decision he makes, but what else is new? You still have to stand back and look at the big picture.

Literally the number 1 job for the CEO of a public company is increasing shareholder value. Then end.

So basically reading the OP it seems this CAD image could be just demonstrating the outer dimensions for the case manufacturers and perhaps provides no new information whatsoever. All information about the notch and fourth camera is still nothing but a rumour.

I think it would be very disappointing if the notch doesn't reduce in size this year to allow battery percentage to be displayed. Its been quite a talking point and Apple are aware of the demand so I would be surprised if they haven't developed this.

Why couldn't they simply have the percentage overlayed on top of the battery level indicator? Seems like an obvious solution to me that should be easily implemented in a routine software update without re-engineering the phone.

They could do that but have chosen not to. There is the fact that smartphones are fighting to find the best solution to providing an all screen display and Apple haven’t really changed this since 2017. It is time more development was pushed towards a notch reduction even though Apple like to stretch things out longer than other manufacturers. The earlier rumours suggested a slightly smaller notch and it would be very welcome. I agree that overlaying the percentage would be a consolation at the very least.

Why he has mentioned that Apple leaks twitter account I have no clue

All he does is just tweet leaks that other people report
Regarding that twitter account, when they were just starting I literally said that they just make things up and don't have any sources at all and they agreed on that statement.
But apparently EAP will talk about every "leak", regardless if it's made up bs or will turn out real.

It’s mad as that twitter account has other leakers following him. It’s clear he’s just posting other people’s leaks. Then flip flops when other people’s reports change

I mean aside from 5g and a faster processor this doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. Maybe I should get an 11 pro?

How about you wait til it’s out? There should be good improvements and depends on your needs.

every year all you will see with all phones is improved cameras and features here and there that are improved over previous version.

There are always improvements that you will be without for the few years you have the older model. Last year's battery life improvements were well worth it. You will pay a similar price for the 11 Pro now compared to the 12 Pro late this year.

I will upgrade from my 11 pro max, mainly so my wife can take my 11 and retire her XR that just isn’t getting her through the day battery wise (not to mention she’s been pretty tough on it physically). I like the squared edge sides better as a case design, and whatever ends up being the final tech specs will be what it is. If my wife didn’t need to upgrade, I wouldn’t think about upgrading my 11PM, as it’s been a great device.
Dude cut the crap. You know damn well you were going to upgrade regardless the same way you do yearly.
