You're going to depend on other peoples iOS devices, like they care? I mean I wish we lived in that kind of world but we don't anymore. Otherwise this is useless for theft in my opinion, unless the thief is stupid enough to stay in bluetooth range. If that is the case, then the person in this scenario was had but someone that dumb. Not good.
It’s all seamless, you don’t need to rely on other people the devices handle it all. Have people forgotten the U1 chips too.

Is there going to be some sort of ‘opt-in’ for Apple users? What I mean is, it’s pretty presumptive to release a product (airtags) that relies on another product (iPhones etc..) to work properly. If everyone who didn’t have airtags opted out of allowing their iOS devices to be part of the network, the usability would be drastically reduced. On the other hand, do Apple have the right to use your device/data to ensure airtags work appropriately?

What the heck is a "50 cent" coin? Is that slightly bigger than a 25 cent coin or a 12" pie plate?

This think live and falls with software. - i guess macrumors forum members will brighten it up like with apple watch - Apple normally is not able to deliver itself anymore.

but tile will be a MEGA success anyways - people love that xxxx - and its pretty „cheap“ for an apple item!

mass surveillance - level 2!

If the AirTags have equal length and width dimensions, it means it's going to be a square shape, right? You'd only need to give the diameter if it were circular, for example, like the Tile Sticker whose dimension are 27mm diameter and 7.33mm depth, as quoted above.

No. Ovals are not square.

Quick, somewhat unrelated question: is everyone else here still able to see L0vetodream's tweets, since they're mentioned here? It says that his tweets are protected for me - not sure if he blocked me or what.
Not just you. His tweets are limited (Protected) here too.

Not surprised after Apple saying they’re going to track down the leakers.

Their right comes from you accepting the terms of service when you upgraded to iOS 14.

And Apple is not using your device or data. It's not any different than someone seeing your wi-fi network.

I wonder how these will be any different from Tile trackers that have been around for years now. I used to have one. I liked it but it wasn't precise enough to find anything in your house, it just provided a general location on a map. Only good for if you left your keys or wallet in a restaurant or something.

With the Mac line being streamlined (discontinued some models and unreleased models in the code showing up) as well as details on the airtags and Apple Tv, it does feel like an Apple event is going to happen in April

How many do you get for $39? Please tell me they aren't selling them one at a time.
You know that this is Apple? They can charge whatever they want and people will buy it an praise them.

Look at what the Apple Pencil replacement tips cost. Or their overpriced cables.

$200 to track five things in my house? I was hoping for better. Plus, larger than a .50 cent piece is pretty big. Bigger than some of the things I want to track.

Hmmm...
You may not be the target audience for this. Some better uses cases are: a parent who wants to drop one in their child's backpack; a traveler who wants to stick one in his checked bag; a spouse who want to hide one in the frame of their significant other's car.

I truly wonder how they'll deal with stalkers and predators. We know that sooner or later it will be used by some piece of s- individual to track their victim.
It was reported some time ago.

If a tag which is not yours will follow you too long (with the help of their proprietary algorithm which will take under consideration such cases as public transportation) you will have an alert on your iPhone to disable this tag.

For a website that’s so global you ain’t half American-ist. I have ZERO idea how big a “half dollar piece” is. So still very much in the dark.
