$200 to track five things in my house?
Will it really only work in the house? Or can you track items anywhere via the "Find My" app?
$200 to track five things in my house?
I don’t think they would have to be charged.Battery life would be interesting to know
You mean other than all the uses that have been listed? Can anyone list uses for these things for me????
Tile devices are not as useful as these should be, as they require other people to have the Tile app running to be able to find things, and they do not have the ability to locate something to within a few inches that these should have thanks to UWB.I got a really nice 4 pack of Tile devices a couple years ago for a holiday gift and still havent used one.
See, you have already listed some of the uses! For keys though it is not just in case you forget where you left them, but in case they fall out of a pocket or bag. For people that use a lot of mobile equipment that is very expensive (like film production gear), these would also be nice.I know some people have uses for them. I can see a womans purse. I can see a backpack. I can see keys if you misplace them sometimes.
Good that you have never had your keys fall out of your pocket. Hope your luck continues. But I dont carry a purse, dont carry a backpack unless traveling on a airplane which I havent done in a couple years, I like minimalist keys so I only carry a fob by itself.
You could attach one to each dollar bill so that you could know where they go..... 🙃I dont carry a wallet as I carry a lot of cash with a couple cards like credit and id in my front pocket so no wallet to put one in.
I never thought about that piece of info... It's basically a $39 disposable battery that keeps track of where it's located. If I can't recharge it, I ain't buying it. Bye.
Let’s hope they don’t have a million of theses stuck in the Suez canal!
Apple's rumored AirTags item trackers will be slightly larger than a 50 cent coin and around three times the thickness, based on dimensions offered by leaker Max Weinbach (via YouTube channel EverythingApplePro).
![]()
According to Weinbach, the AirTags will come in one size measuring 32mm x 32mm x 6mm, which would put the circular devices in the same ballpark diameter-wise as a half dollar piece – a bit smaller than Samsung's Galaxy SmartTags (39mm x 39mm x 9mm) and a little larger than a Tile Sticker (27mm x 7.3mm).
A previous rumor from L0vetodream suggested Apple would make AirTags available in two size options, but it's not really clear why two sizes would be required.
Based on images found within an internal build of iOS 13, AirTags are small, circular white tags with an Apple logo on the front. They will likely be attached to items via adhesive or an attachment point like a ring, and there may be multiple ways to use them with different items.
According to his retail sources, Weinbach says AirTags are estimated to be priced at around $39 each (Samsung's SmartTags are $29.99). When they'll be launched though remains the question.
A new "Items" tab enabled by default in the Find My app in the iOS 14.5 beta has led to some hope that Apple's long-awaited AirTags item trackers will finally be released soon. Apple said iOS 14.5 will be released in "early spring," but a specific release date remains unclear.
Weinbach also believes Apple will announce new products "soon," either via press release or some sort of event, although event rumors remain murky at best. According to a YouTube video by hit-or-miss leaker Jon Prosser, Apple plans to host an April event this year.
Prosser himself acknowledges that it's worth treating this April event rumor with some skepticism since it would be Apple's first April event in 11 years, but he does say the source he got this from has a perfect track record.
Either way, Weinbach's retail source tells him that they are expecting three new products to drop into the tablet, wearable, and accessories categories.
The wearables are "likely" to be new seasonable Apple Watch bands, new colors for the solo loop bands, and possibly a new band style. The rumored new iPad Pro is the new tablet, while AirTags will fall into the accessories category.
Volume shipments of mini-LED display components for a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will reportedly begin in the second quarter of 2021, which spans April through June. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously claimed that Apple plans to announce new iPads as early as April, including new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models.

good to hear that you will never lose anything or have anything stolen, clearly this product is not for people like youI'm not going to misplace those things they're huge (I don't have the first two).
Also, apparently they fit nice on a fifty cent piece! You mean other than all the uses that have been listed?

It sounds like you do not understand how this product will workYou're going to depend on other peoples iOS devices, like they care? I mean I wish we lived in that kind of world but we don't anymore. Otherwise this is useless for theft in my opinion, unless the thief is stupid enough to stay in bluetooth range. If that is the case, then the person in this scenario was had but someone that dumb. Not good.
Of course there is a limit, but the value of the tracked thing itself can be way lower than $50, even $0.If the price is accurate that's mildly surprising, would make them only a shade more expensive than the Pro-level Tile, which is presumably where these would be competing rather than with the entry-level. Though I suppose there's a limit on how high they can price these and still have them hold any appeal; if you're paying $50+ for a thing that helps you find something, the value of that thing has to be pretty high to begin with ...
when was his last 'hit'?hit-or-miss leaker Jon Prosser,

I hope they can charge themselves with the radio waves around them if they need batteries.I don’t think they would have to be charged.
You won't "misplace" those things, they'd be stolen. This serves two purposes, finding something you've lost no matter how valuable, and recovering something that's been stolen that has a high value.I'm not going to misplace those things they're huge (I don't have the first two).
That's how I use my tiles currently. One on a key chain, hidden inside guitar cases and attached to my bikes. When these were introduced (rumored) my immediate thinking was how can I place this on my small child. I'd also put one in my car and on, if I can manage it, my bicycle.
Probably if people use Apple devices along the route. Are these things we could put in packages we send overseas to track packages ourselves? This kind of tracking possible?
That's what insurance is for, plus insurance gets me a newer one when I replace it.You won't "misplace" those things, they'd be stolen. This serves two purposes, finding something you've lost no matter how valuable, and recovering something that's been stolen that has a high value.
Of course there is a limit, but the value of the tracked thing itself can be way lower than $50, even $0.
The AirTag buys you convenience, saves time, peace of mind and such too.
For example its very convenient for people that they don't have to spend precious time looking for their keys when they run late. Replacing the key itself would be $20 maybe, but the hassle it saves just looking for the key in that scenario, not even replacing it, is easily worth $50 to most people. Same for a remote or whatever 'important' thing people use. Try putting a kid to bed without their favorite toy. 😅
Other example would be that the main value isn't even in being able to track the thing when its lost.
An automation could for example just check if the kids bikes or certain toy is inside the shed every night.
If not, message to parent: 'Antony's bike is still outside. Do you want to look for it?'.
It might even be used as a burglary alarm.
HomePod mini checks periodically if the (motor)bikes' AirTag is still in the barn during the night, if not, alarm! 📣💥
