I don't buy the price. You can't even buy a basic sport/solo plastic watch band for that. A piece of rubber with zero tech in it.

I can't see this being under $49.99.

Said the same when rumours said the HomePod mini would be $99. Look how that worked out.

If I can put it on my keychain, and is the size described, I’m there. If not, I don’t have a use for it.

I have a Tile Pro.... and find it pretty low on my list of things to use. I don't check the battery life, adjust the settings, or use the tracking much. OTOH, I am constantly using the "Find My" app. There is something nice about having everything in one ecosystem. Apple is good at their ecosystem. I'll probably buy.

"Apple's rumored AirTags item trackers will be slightly larger than a 50 cent coin and around three times the thickness, based on dimensions offered by leaker Max Weinbach (via YouTube channel EverythingApplePro)."

If you are trying to provide a frame of reference for size, I don't think the obscure 50 cent piece is super helpful :)

...a spouse who want to hide one in the frame of their significant other's car.

MacRumors (obsessed with calling him names) and you are factually wrong. He has a track record of 78,2% accuracy:

well... anyone without a 100% track record is technically hit or miss. I think this pejorative is applied to maybe being wrong on some big claims rather than any objective standard. You’re expecting too much here I think. Lol

You're going to depend on other peoples iOS devices, like they care? I mean I wish we lived in that kind of world but we don't anymore. Otherwise this is useless for theft in my opinion, unless the thief is stupid enough to stay in bluetooth range. If that is the case, then the person in this scenario was had but someone that dumb. Not good.
Apple published some papers about this sort of thing. Every iOS device would act as a point of contact for the tag to phone home with its approximate location in an otherwise secure manner. The nearby device’s owner wouldn’t be actively involved or even notified it had relayed the signal. Only the tag’s owner would receive the actual info.

are you planning on losing things in the future? If you have already lost stuff, no matter how "magical" these will be, they aint going to help
I plan to find some lost things and put air tags in them :)

LOL. You’ve got to read up on how these work. It doesn’t rely on people caring. It doesn’t rely on a single BT connection, but rather a billion plus iOS devices. It’s automatically done
