Cute response, but unless you have something to add, no need to quote or respond. I am basing my experience on 3 years of selling these phones to average consumers, do you have some relevant background to share?

I will quote and respond whenever I please. But thanks for trying to guide me along the path to forum righteousness, oh wise one.

Spot on. I get the stockholders here (shouldn’t they have a label so you can see they are biased?) perpetuate the lie as it has potential gain for them, but average punters and bedroom techies?
Stockholders must be the people that reside in the over-luxurious real estate - as stockholders comparatively don’t see rewards

My original question, which I've since deleted, was about your experience with iCloud downloads on a plane; not storage.

I've never had a problem with my iPhone while flying, be it storage or iCloud download related. Is that easier for you to understand?

The “XS Max” name is horrible, but it helps Tim pretending his care for Macs

Ive had a few phones with 128gb of storage inclidkng my s9+ and even with alot photos music and apps never used it all. Right now I've used 30gb of 128gb. The wife has 64gb on her LG v30 and isn't even close to max and never will be.
Just curious, who needs 256 or 512gb on a phone when most things are cloud storage based?

I will take your non answer as having nothing constructive to add about the actual topic. Your attempts at humor are cute, but not very well done.

It's clear from your posts that you are very bothered and upset and put out by the fact that Apple is offering a 512GB storage option to those who want it, like me for the reasons posted in my reply here. Perhaps you should worry less about why other folks pick this or that option or this or that color or this or that model? I think you'll find life so much more enjoyable. Give it a try!

Again, I think you're paying too much attention to the names. Nobody cares about the names, price and screen size will drive the purchasing decisions for most people.

Still confusion there because 6.1" will be $699 and 5.8" will be $899.

Life is good my friend. I'm not bothered by Apple's storage options at all. Stay on topic please, and don't forget to hug your terabytes of music before you tuck them in tonight :)

Maybe next year I'll make the switch from Galaxy to iPhone. I don't feel generous enough this year. AC @ $399 feels like a scam to me

Everyone 1 week ago:
There's no way they'd call it XS max. That's ridiculous.
Everyone today:
I'll have an XS max in gold please.
The final attempt:
Hey, I need an iPhone XS Max
You mean an iPhone for Christmas ?
No, the newest and greatest iPhone. The XS - just to the Max.
So which one ? The ten ?
Yes, the tennis max
But that’s a racket we don’t supply here...
No, an iPhone XS X Max
Duh ? An X or an Max ?
No an X Max !!
So, still X-mas, that is to be delivered before Newyear ?
No, an XMax with XS before that
So you want access to Christmas ?
Gee man, go **** yourself just skip it...

I really don't think it's as confusing as you think, and I don't mean that in a condescending way. I think price is the #1 driver, camera is probably second, and desire for a screen size/pocketability is probably third (in my selling experience). They have a few different options for different types of consumers, and people will be able to choose their models just fine.

Exactly.

Appreciate it’s only anecdotally but lots of people in my social and professional circle have held off upgrading their iPhone last year and are now looking to get out of the ecosystem.

I’m already being asked to port my free app to Android and getting feedback to charge for it to cover the costs to me, as so many are disillusioned at Apple.

Reasons being that the line is confusing, they don’t want the lower priced phone as they feel they are missing features which is no-sell as even the lower price phones is premium priced, and that Tim, Phil and Eddy’s greed is just a little bit too naked now.

If pushed I’ve been recommending a Pixel but there really does need to be better competition as Apple really is ripe for the taking now.

Well with Apple you gotta "pay to play". This concept worked well for them in the last 10 years, since the competition was far behind. But in the year 2018/19? I doubt this will still work for them.

What I want to know is if we can have the iPhone SEx? Seems just about as logical as the other new names. Last time they called it the SE/30 instead, so maybe we could have the iPhone SE/30 :D

Hahahah this is funny!

I would have thought Apple should have learnt from the confusion of having the 'New iPad' and the iPad 2. Not to mention then having the New New iPad (iPad 4) and the iPad 2.

They’re changing up sizes and models. Adding edge to edge screen where it didn’t exist before. Improving intervals. Adding colours. Probably some other hardware improvement. Real under the hood OS upgrades. Subjective and objective improvements or changes.

What’s a substantial upgrade? Changing the shape of the glass or plastic? With edge to edge screens phones are now going to look more ubiquitous than ever.
Um, I'm happy with my iPhone X.

There should be a Wiki for this, but:

A) Apps will continue to take up more storage as screen size and resolution increases (unless all apps start to utilize in-app rendering instead of PNG assets)
B) Local storage for apps (i.e. caching) can take up significant space to improve app performance or for offline use (i.e. music apps, audible, etc)
C) Your photos and videos are stored locally and backed up on the server side (i.e. cloud). Unless you want to re-download your photos every time, storing them locally is the fastest way to view, edit and share them

The rule of thumb is to purchase as much storage as you can afford. Also, the larger capacities typically use faster flash storage/RAM.

I am only staying with iOS because of my Mac, Apple Watch, and iPad.

Their watch game is ahead of everyone else in terms of health features. I paid like $100 for my AW Series 1 too.

Google has too many QC issues and their prices are too iphone like.

This keynote is a joke! How many black asian teenagers, living on the bayou, does Apple expect to buy these new iPhones?
