I'd still get it. Go large or go home. In fact, I would not even consider upgrading from the X if the max was still only 256GB.

Are you storing hundreds of movies on your phone or what? I was happy when they went from 8GB to 16GB.

Its worse IMO because apple has offered 128 gig phones year past so they are capable of delivering it. But they choose not to just to milk people out on more money because they know they will spend 150$ more to get more storage even though most people dont need 256.

It’s actually a strategy by Apple to push people toward iCloud Services to store data off device. Services growth is today’s focus not value. :apple:

64GB for the Xs models is a slap to our face...

Son you are missing the point.... NEW Colors!!!! WOW apple can still innovate! Making Crayola look like kids stuff!v Sure hope they make a Sea Foam Green Phone!

Yawn - show me new tech... these colors look AMAZING once you put them in a case to protect your use of kids college money for a yet another phone.

Fingers crossed the let's gather round is a symbol of a camp fire that we burn the trash cans and bring back a configurable tower in a convenient square case. #pipedream

256GB Xs Max would be an overkill for me while the 64GB is not enough...
The consumer-driven solution would be to make 128 GB standard or offer a middle-tier for $50 more. The profit-driven solution would be to charge $150 more for twice what most people would ever need.

I don't need any leaks to tell you which one Apple picked.

still don't know what's wrong with 64gig. I'm using my 6S since 3 years and I still have 20gb left. Never reached the 50GB mark, even though I have a lot of apps and almost 10000 photos.

so why offer any size options at all then by your reasoning?
Not everyone wants cloud services.

because the phone is a grand. just because you are ok with the storage in 2018 64 gig for a flagship phone is crap. 128 should be the starting option.

I love how every Apple related site has adopted to Apple's PR speech without questioning it. The "low-cost" was the "normal" price for the latest-and-greatest iPhone, until they decided to introduce the newest tech only in the 6 Plus (with a price hike). Then they raised the prices for the 6s Plus, 7 Plus and 8 Plus a bit, and priced the X over the most expensive 8 Plus. I think this is one of Apple's PR most amazing achievements, that everyone writes "low-cost phone" where parts have to be older or less advanced "to keep costs down" when - a few years ago - they showed that they could put the latest stuff in their flagship model for the same price which is now considered "low-cost".

I know and understand that Apple's main goal today is to raise their iPhone ASP and to generate more "Services" revenue, which is why I have given up to see more than 5GB of free iCloud storage, or more than 64GB for the entry level iPhone or more than 128GB in an entry level MacBook, but the XR is anything but low-cost.

Everything you say is just... spot on.

But you are preaching to the wrong peanut gallery, which preaches that cost is not relevant due to "low" hidden monthly installment payments -- and where the phone never gets paid fully, by applying recurring trade-ins.

What, you’re surprised? There will be plenty of people in line looking forward to the slap. Apple knows this. :apple:
I have 64GB now and I'm satisfied. I've been getting the 64GB models since the iPhone 4 and it's still working for me, surprisingly. I have about 20GB free right now.

Like I said this isn't nearly as bad as having so little storage you have to offload **** to upgrade the OS. Or that time we got 16GB , 64GB and 128GB.

Could they have given more? Sure. But this is Apple. A $10 increase in BOM for a $100+ at POS is what they've done time and time again now. Nobody should really be surprised. They've done worse.

I don't understand why Apple needs a Keynote to announce color variations and size variations. I thought we were going to really see something interesting. Instead it looks to be a really boring Keynote.

I may be part of the minority but the storage options finally look decent to me. I always approach upgrade cycles as, "is this worth it?" If I can't answer a definite yes, I buy AAPL instead.

This has me sitting on a iPhone 6 still and I now feel like the storage is finally in line and pricing for the regular customer. To me, Apple Music and such help people not need the full blown storage options. While I use Apple Music, I still store all my "favorite and must have music" on my phone.

I honestly don't see what people need 256gb/512gb in a phone? I create content too and the only thing I can think of is the people that never delete anything. That falls under the Apple services side as well with iCloud.

I've posted my use case here before ... I have terabytes of lossless live music recordings of the Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and several other bands. These are soundboard and audience recordings that are not found in Spotify, Apple Music, or any other streaming service. I want to have as much of my music collection with me on my phone so when I go out running (often in areas with no cell coverage) or when I'm traveling without a data connection I can listen to my music for hours without interruption.

So I definitely want as much storage as possible. I'll be getting the 6.5" 512GB version for sure.

Maybe the fact that you are paying $1000 for a phone with 64GB standard in 2018?

They need at least 45 minutes for demos from app developers and toy companies.

And AR demos...

:p

I just got a couple of iPod Videos and converted them to flash. They're really pretty convenient, though I had to install RockBox on some of them because there were too many tracks for the iPod OS to handle.

The colors!

I'm genuinely excited for the XR or whatever it's called. Maybe because we haven't seen much leaked on how it'll look.

With me personally, I started taking a lot of HDR photos with a third party app and they're taking a lot of space, but the quality is much better than the stock camera app

No one is arguing about the existence of memory options, although 512 sounds crazy TO ME, but fine offer it. But the jump from 64 to 256 is clearly money driven only and a little silly. Just start at 128 and charge $50 more.
