Here are my questions - one on point, one not.
1. Will there be a battery case for iPhone 12?
2. I'm still a little confused about cable situation... I do think Apple made a bad decision. If one wants to, can one charge iPhone 12 with existing brick and a USB-A to lightning cable? What's the downside? (As an aside, if companies like Anker or RAVPower made chargers with 4-6 USB-C ports, then I would enthusiastically be all-in).

Yes you can use any lightning cable to charge it.

Am I the only one dismayed by lack of folio case? The sleeve case is an odditiy. I don't want to slide the phone in and out to use.

Dare say the leather wallet case will probably cost £129 for absolutely no reason like last year. I'll be ordering a leather wallet case from Torro for £35 like the one on my XR. Had the phone and case for two years and the case in still in excellent shape. Phone is like new still even after a few drops.
Torro makes excellent leather cases. I had one for my iPad mini and have one for my current iPad Pro.

1. Probably. The battery cases have historically not been available at release for some reason, but they have been making them for most iPhone models for the last few years. Might be a new type that takes advantage of MagSafe.
2. Yes you can definitely still use an old USB-A to lightning cable, including with the old 5W brick. The only downside is that it will charge slower, but that's not an issue if you mostly charge overnight.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting “Among Us” vibes with this picture?

No!

To my mind any case that doesn't cover the screen is pretty useless. I've never understood why you'd bother.

Hmm. I was planning on getting the folio case but now I do not know what I'll do. Can you use the camera without taking the phone out of the sleeve? So many questions.

Isn't leather supposed to be bad for the environment? I'm kinda surprised they still sell it.
This is the general perception people have about the leather industry, but it is just wrong - tanneries are regulated under governments for compliance to all international environmental standards. Tanneries do not use Chrome VI anymore, instead they use Chrome III, which is the same thing found in food supplements. Any toxic material that was once used i.e formaldehyde/arsenic are just simply not used in today’s world! I really hope people’s views of leather start to change, as it is a by product of the meat industry, as long as people are eating meat, there will be leather in the world. 🐄

Your right - until wireless CarPlay is an option.
However even with just charging and a bluetooth option makes my dashboard 100% less cluttered.

While not common in current model vehicles, wireless carplay is definitely available to retrofit (most) anything with double-din. Several options available from Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.

I know others complain about Apples prices on the leather cases, but these are extremely well constructed with quality stitching and materials. They develop a nice patina overtime, have a tight quality fit surrounding the phone and have some really nice color options. I have two portfolio Leather cases (In two shades of blue) and held up extremely well over hundreds of hours of use. Highly recommend.
