Here are my questions - one on point, one not.
1. Will there be a battery case for iPhone 12?
2. I'm still a little confused about cable situation... I do think Apple made a bad decision. If one wants to, can one charge iPhone 12 with existing brick and a USB-A to lightning cable? What's the downside? (As an aside, if companies like Anker or RAVPower made chargers with 4-6 USB-C ports, then I would enthusiastically be all-in).
I'm guessing yes, but my ? is will they make a Mag so you can get 15W and charge from the Mag Charger?

I know others complain about Apples prices on the leather cases, but these are extremely well constructed with quality stitching and materials. They develop a nice patina overtime, have a tight quality fit surrounding the phone and have some really nice color options. I have two portfolio Leather cases (In two shades of blue) and held up extremely well over hundreds of hours of use. Highly recommend.
It's great that you enjoy using them. For me personally I can't justify paying that much for one case when I can buy 4 Torro leather cases for around the same price.
Plus the large cut-out on the bottom of pretty much all the official cases have always made them an instant write-off as an option for me, simply due to the exposed part of the phone being more prone to damage.

And that’s also worth mentioning as you said, there’s a lot of great third-party cases with adequate quality with leather and other materials as well. Of course, Apples is known to always charge higher for their products, but they certainly don’t own the market when there is some really great third-party cases available from some very reputable vendors.

Am I the only one dismayed by lack of folio case? The sleeve case is an odditiy. I don't want to slide the phone in and out to use.

I would have much preferred a folio case, since it covers the screen without having to bother with one of those hideous screen protectors. I used to have a third party sleeve with one of the early iPhones, but not sure if I'd go back to that now since I use the phone a lot more than I did back then.

I foresee lots of returns because now im going to get a clear case (because its available) then use that until the leather comes then return it.

The cases need to be released at the same time as the devices. Stupid Apple.

This used to be the most frustrating thing about Apple's cases. Looks like the Magsafe iPhone 12 cases no longer leave the bottom exposed.

While not common in current model vehicles, wireless carplay is definitely available to retrofit (most) anything with double-din. Several options available from Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.
Yes, This is my dilemma I'd like to keep the single-din and as close to a stock look... My love for old cars.

I've been planning to get a 12 Pro, but it's only been announced for 24 hours and I'm already bummed about the case situation.

I've been using a driver's-license-window wallet case since my first iPhone, and I'm not about to go back to carrying a wallet so that's pretty much a must for me now. I'd been a big fan of TwelveSouth's BookBook series, until last year when they switched the design so it covers the hardware side buttons with nasty, mushy plastic and puts the mute switch at the bottom of a well. I returned it and absolutely refuse to use a case with button covers--they just feel so wrong to me.

Fortunately Pad & Quill had a nice alternative with properly exposed buttons that I've been using with the 11 Pro for the past year.

Except for the 12 all Pad & Quill is offering is a case with the same fat layer of button-covering plastic or one with exposed buttons but a ridiculous chunk of wood around the phone. So they're off the list. TwelveSouth hasn't announced anything yet, so I'm holding out hope they'll fix what was wrong last time, but I'm not optimistic.

Anybody have suggestions for a nice-ish wallet case, preferably with DL window, that leaves the buttons exposed? seems like with the magnetic connector there room to do new and fun stuff with that kind of case,.

It's unclear to me and I haven't seen if anyone asked. Are the phones now held in their case magnetically or still friction? Friction as in a "snug fit" that you force in, or do they just snap onto the back based on the magnets?

Leather sleeve has me a bit confused - why I'd ever use something like this?

Here is what I do want - a magsafe single-din car stereo where the phone becomes the interface for the stereo and CarPlay takes over.

Universe please make this happen.
Just mount it over your existing stereo. What I’ve been doing for years.
there will be magnetic pucks that will work now like the belkin one. Then just use your phone as your car stereo. I’m running my headless to my dsp in the trunk with a camera kit usb audio to a dac back to my dsp. Bypasses the whole stock stereo in the system and uses my phone for the deck.

Good, I’ve had a leather case ever since Apple introduced them.
I've never used a case for any iPhone since the first iPhone, and I've never been more excited to not use one now with the new design. But to each their own.

yes- I'll probably just end up doing something like this to avoid spending an extra $700- I did find this guy... https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Digital+Media+Receivers/SPH-10BT

A new MagSafe solution would be nice to charge at the same time without the extra cable... but I realize it wouldn't be a big market.
