Did you apply anything to wipe it down prior to using the dye? Also what type of leather dye did you use?
Here’s an update on my Bullstrap Sienna case for my 12 Pro after almost a month.
There’s just something “clean” about the black Nomad cases. Looks like I’m gonna have to order one soon. I thought I’d be able to go a full 100 days with the mini brown Nomad. Here I am about to order the black. 🙄

5.8 was the best. 12 pro even thinner is not as good to handle as the 11p
Bought the Apple leather case for my 12 pro and yes, disappointed. This time they did it differently and it just doesn't feel right. So I bought Bullstrap and so much happier with it. This case looks awesome and feels good. I actually like the cut on the bottom, makes it easier to swipe up. Can't wait for it to be worned out naturally.

it should be clear by now that the black and blue will age the best because they won't show the rubbing off of the coat as quickly. i clean my saddle brown with a disinfectant wipe, haven't made any effort to distress it, and the edges are starting to look grody no matter what. it's paint. going in and out of pockets, in and out of bags, it's gonna rub off.
but for people who did try to distress it that's what they're accustomed to doing and it's not their fault they had the expectation that the leather would be regular leather like in previous years.
my saddle brown, I don’t do anything to it other than wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe. I use it normally, I don’t work at home so it goes all over with me, have dropped it a few times, I don’t baby it because I think when you spend the money for leather you expect it to hold up well. Purchased the day they became available. On the edges that frame the phone it is literally black.

9 days since I removed the paint layer with a magic eraser. I’ll give it a couple of weeks before I update again.
On the Baltic Blue you can still see if the edges, etc. are getting gross. I think the problem here is people using disinfecting wipes. That's always going to cause problems with leather. I've got a really expensive leather wallet, and I'm sure disinfecting wipes would damage the dye and leather on that too.
This pandemic is not ending anytime soon. I'd suggest investing in a UV sterilizer such as Phone Soap. it doesn't damage the leather at all.
I am sure disinfecting has something to do with it but also the cases this year just are not made with the same quality as years past. It almost doesn't even feel like leather its so thin. For the first time in I couldn't even tell you how long I am put off by these and considering other options. Hopefully they figure something out by the time the 12S or 13 (whatever its called) comes around for launch.
My day one bullstrap sienna vs my moms one month 12 pro SB. I know it isn’t an apple case, but to me this is already feeling so much better than the apple cases this year. It’s pretty wild using the bullstrap as it doesn’t seem to have any wax on it so it’s very absorbent of any oils or moisture. I’m excited for the patina.
I’ve heard, anecdotally, that the UV sterilizers can damage the leather by drying it out. Something like “cooking” it... but I don’t have one so I dunno. (edit spelling)

People seem to missing what we've discovered here!
It's not the leather that's being damaged by general wear or alcohol wipes.
All Apple's iPhone 12 leather cases have a coloured coating that rubs off revealing a very dark (almost black) 'leather' underneath. I would NOT call this patina. If your case is still showing any colour, there's still coating left.
