Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

Here‘s my two month old black case. I‘ve been charging it with a MagSafe Charger since Christmas and just noticed that the ring is starting to show slowly.
I’ve been trying to find pictures of how the Baltic blue leather case has been aging for everyone, but since I can’t see anything on that color, I thought I’ll share my experience. I switched to a 12 Pro Max from a 7+. Had the black leather case on my 7+ and I loved it. I got the Baltic blue leather case on December 3rd, have been using it ever since. I realized it felt different as soon as I started using it. Felt smoother, not necessarily better or worse than my 7+. I figured it might be due to changes in manufacturing process/flat sides. I’m not a leather expert or anything, but I’m happy with the way it has turned out so far. I’ve dropped the phone once, and it is a left a little scrape on the top (last picture), other than that, the sides on the case and the front lip have darkened (they look like dark blue rather than black). It’s picked up a few scrapes here and there, adding to the character of the case. I don’t baby the case, but I don’t use it too roughly either. I haven’t used any wipes or anything, I just wipe it off on my jeans or any cloth if it picks up smudges. Sometimes, I might place it on a slightly damp or wet surface while taking a shower or something, but I wipe it off soon after. What do you guys think? First picture is a picture of it from day 1.

I got my SB and iPhone 12 on November 14th, used the SB until November 28th and returned it after seeing peoples pictures and some slight darkening of mine. Thank god I returned it when I did.
Got Baltic Blue December 5th thinking its a nice dark blue that wont look that bad once it “blackens”, so far I was right! Over a month in and mine looks very close to yours.
I have noticed that there is a good number of people on forums who only post in threads without reading any other posts.
I feel bad for these people cause they are the ones that are still posting about their new cases all giddy and excited about how it will age.

I’m back!!! I have been disappointed of the fit of the leather cases, especially over the past two years. I decided to try it one more time today. Got the black leather. Fit is the best I’ve seen and the lip is the most uniform I have seen in a while. I am not letting this one go. Only small gripe is mute cutout could be a bit bigger.
Well, reading other posts on a and sharing one’s own experience/opinions on a thread are two very different things. And hey, if the cases turn out to be bad or get wrecked in the long run, people can just get a new one, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t share their thoughts or experiences on a related thread just because some people know all too well how leather is supposed to be and the aging process doesn’t surprise them anymore, since they’re apparently veterans

If there is ever a third party case with better leather, MagSafe, and the same buttons as apple’s I’ll switch.
With the way my hand grips this case I am certain it’ll have a similar fate and get black edges with minimal wear on the back.
To delay this, I am using a leather wipe more often than I did with last years cases, looking forward to seeing how it ages. I have managed to nick a piece of the leather with my nail while removing the wallet and looks like the leather layer is extremely thin, this same thing would have just marred last years cases, I can see white underneath on this, even asphalt drops revealed shredded leather of the same color on the 11pro cases.
What I do like is how leather goods tell a story, all the scuffs, cuts, and marks are all fun times.
Wishlist is to offer a higher grade of leather as an option.
The design of this phone is not comfortable. The closed bottom that I thought would be a dealbreaker is not. It makes the phone feel more comfortable to hold. Last year the phone felt better without a case, the curves are lovely. This year the sharp edges dig into my hand, and leather is a more comfortable square than steel.
I bought this case to use just for the winter, but if it ages well I may continue to use it. Never thought I’d say an iphone feels better in a case than without.

i totally ruined a saddle brown case by removing the coating and oiling it a bit with coconut oil
it's dark now and looks not good. haha, oh well... i should have bought a black one in the first place.
while i appreciate the thinness and weight of the apple leather case, i find the ESR leather case feels more durable, a bit heavier and it seems sturdier. would love to have a brown ESR leather case, but there's only black and blue.

Went digging for a spare charger for my dad and came across more old cases. Kinda making me want to find an old X to get some more use out of these.

What about a refurbished X through Apple? I’ve considered it; never had one of their refurb’s, but it might me a good buy.
It is funny. Lol, but the joys of life when you come to a point of not having to choose between this or that; rather this and that. 😉Haha going back from 12 to 11 pro or X just because of the case is a little bit funny for me
Yeah I’d take a X. Solid battery and a Qualcomm modem. They really took a step down with the XS.
Baltic Blue after 1 month of daily use. Still no idea how you guys are getting them so gross. I clean mine using phone soap.
