Haven’t got the heart to do that to my 12 pro max 😂
Used some alcohol wipes and wiped down the back of the saddle brown until no more colouring came off. Then used it for 2 or 3 days.
Looks like it’s darkening faster around the edges and some of the back.

I wish my baltic blue case + wallet would darken, they both look brand new and I've had them since they released. 🤦♂️
Had my 12 pro max baltic blue leather case since launch as well, the sides have gotten a lot darker, the rest of the case has definitely gotten a little darker, you probably wont notice that it's gotten darker unless you compare it to a brand new baltic blue leather case, yours will definitely be darker.
family member got the same case recently I was shocked at how much darker my case was.
Mine has gotten darker too. The way I figured out it had gotten darker was when I took the case off. The insides of the case (borders) are much lighter in color comparatively
It doesn't help I am comparing it to my backup phone SE 2 with the midnight blue case.
The midnight blue is a dark navy color, might be a while until your Baltic blue case gets anywhere near as dark as your midnight blue case.
Can guarantee you if you walked into a apple store, your case would definitely look darker than a new Baltic blue case.
Your wallet might be a bit lighter when leaving the store. 😂

Anyone going to town on a baltic blue leather case? 🔨😂
So far I’m really enjoying the Decoded leather case more than I thought I would. The buttons aren’t as firm anymore still not as good as the Apple leather case, but enough improvement to enhance the experience. The quality of this leather is truly remarkable I can’t stress it enough. It real puts the apple leather case to shame and surprisingly its more snug than the apple leather case as well. The metal ring around the camera gives it a nice premium look and feel. I will do a follow in a few months on well it patinas.
Looks like it’s already getting a bit darker on the corners. I may have to give this one a go as well.

Initially, I used Alcohol to help remove some of the coating. That didn’t provide great results, so I lightly steel wooled while dry, then copious amounts of beeswax and rubbing, wipe and repeat over about two weeks.
It’s a little splotchier than I would like, as all the coating didn’t come off uniformly. I figure it will fill in naturally now.
Nomad just sent me an email with a 50% off coupon for their new leather case with MagSafe. Ordered one in black and one in brown for $72 shipped.
That shouldn’t be hard to do, from what Apple has done to their leather cases this year. I have the SB and a Nomad, you could see the Nomad start to age about a week in, whereas the SB has dirty stains on the edges but the leather generally hasn’t patina-ed much, if at all. I still use the SB because it’s still a very good slim case with responsive buttons, but aesthetics-wise this thing is a bust.
I guess I could remove the coating but I’m not sure how that’d affect the case in the long term.

I do not, but I did test out on a MagSafe charger and the magnets feel very similar to the apple leather case. I’m really happy with this case don’t think twice about ordering one. At first I wasn’t too impressed with how dark it was out of the box, but after using it for a while it kind of makes sense especially with the way these sharp edges patina everything kind of blends in.
My only complaint with the Decoded case was how quickly it darkens. It starts out quite dark and after about 4 months it’s almost black. Here’s my Decoded XR case after 4 month. It’s not a great photo I know but it shows how dark it gets. Other than that Decoded are great quality.
