Does anyone have pictures of the MagSafe leather wallet that has been used for 1-2 months?

Received my Grams28 case in the mail and it’s safe to say I have found a better alternative to the Apple leather case. At first impression the leather immediately feels and smells premium, and it fits snug tight on the phone unlike the Apple version that tends to slip on the edges. I would highly recommend this case to anyone looking for an alternative to apple’s leather caseView attachment 1729631View attachment 1729632View attachment 1729633View attachment 1729634
Yea but where is a “saddle brown” alternative, my Apple blue leather case is aging very nicely and it is about equal to the quality of the cases of the past

This really looks like it would block the sound coming out of the speakers. I doubt those tiny holes are perfectly aligned, and even if they were, I don’t think they’d do great. Have you done a comparison?

Sounds exactly identical and good for phone calls also. Their quality control seems to be on point

Loving the phone without a case. Only downside I’ve felt is the wallet is much looser without a case

I’m really excited to try this DECODED Leather case. It should be arriving soon and for those whose use MagSafe accessories this is a great alternative to the Apple Saddle brown.View attachment 1729840

I had a Decoded case on my XR. The leather quality was good. A bit more grain texture than I was used to. It took a few days to feel soft and it developed patina quickly. My only complaint was that it stained the antenna bands on my phone brown. (I had the white phone)

I have pacific blue, but good to know I will keep that in mind

Has anyone had any experience with the Bellroy cases this year? Do they patina well? Quite like the look of the toffee-coloured one and think it’ll match my green 12. It’s quite a bit cheaper than the Nomad or an official Apple case, both of which I’m happy to try too.

Never had a leather case before but this thread has tempted me. It’s a great read!

Currently using the Mous 3.0 black leather. It feels nice and is excellent for drops, but I want something slimmer and more luxurious.

Thanks for posting. Still looks pretty new. Has the texture changed in the time you've owned it? Also, if you use a MagSafe leather case, has it left an round imprint?

Yeah I use it with a MagSafe leather case. No imprint at all. Leather texture is was different from the beginning. I can see the the grain more because it’s better leather.

Yea... This thread finally got to me. I swapped my apple black silicone case for a saddle brown leather case for my iPhone XS.
After looking through this thread a lot it was unavoidable :D
Will be updating this post with the same lighting as in the pictures below. To show you how it will patina. Im not going to use any magic eraser or oils and stuff.
Just my hands!

I bought an Apple saddle brown leather case for my 11pm and its so loose it squaks when I handle it... hopefully I can get a new one fast.

The leather feels amazing though

You shouldn’t have to worry about speeding up the process with the xs case. It’ll patina nicely with normal usage.

I switched up to the blue

I’ve had creeking leather cases and have always gotten them swapped out. Take/send it back for a replacement.

What did you do to remove the coating? It looks really great! I’ve had my saddle brown since December and I’d love it to look like yours

I removed the coating with a damp magic eraser. Once the coating was gone I let it dry overnight and then applied a lite coat of smiths leather balm as the leather will feel a bit dry. The smiths won’t darken it much but will help to bring back the softness. Then I just used it like normal and watch it patina.

That's cool and all with the transparency thing but printing that on the inside would also allow full traceability...
In my book, it's a combination of the affinity some Asian brands have for plastering gibberish phrases on their products, and a dash of trying too hard.

Kind of like the oil and tobacco industries proclaiming through their PR that they'll pollute, and kill you, but do it responsibly, only in this instance "we deal in making products from dead animal skins, but do it humanely."

That shtick probably doesn't concern a large portion of leather goods buyers and enthusiasts, or their consciences.

At least it's not as bad, or cynical, as the silly attempts to apply the "vegan leather" label to vinyl (a petroleum product) to make it seem eco-friendly.

I’ve been using the California poppy leather case for my 12 Pro daily for the past month or so. I can tell the leather is definitely breaking in and getting easier to hold or, for lack of a better term, stickier. But as others have mentioned, the patina isn’t great. I’m already seeing faint dark spots on the edges and around the camera cutout. Bummer because I really love this color. I’ve wiped it down weekly with sanitizing wipes in the hopes that it would remove those dark spots but no cigar. And instead, it actually removed a tiny pit of yellow paint as I’ve seen people here say. So looks like it’ll just get gross as time goes on but oh well.

Thats good news, are the new cases for iPhone 12 pro not developing patina nicely? Or is there a thicker coating because of the new shape or something?
