The cases for the 12 feel, and develop a patina significantly different from every leather Apple case I've owned for previous generations, and that number is high. I have a theory, with nothing to back it up, that because of MagSafe (and the heat that generates from charging, wear of the charge disc, etc) they have changed the type of leather they are using and it just doesn't age as beautifully or quick as the previous generation leather cases. I ordered a Bullstrap Portfolio in Sienna for my 12 mini last night that should be here this week.

I just got the decoded leather MagSafe case I will post more pics later

After having my Apple SB iPhone 12 case, I decided to use a damp magic eraser on it. The patina it was getting was spotty and looked unnatural (when comparing with my XS case). The whole process took around 30 minutes. Here’s a picture of it after drying. The leather feels much less sticky but pretty dry. I will continue using it for now to see if this softens up, otherwise I’ll use conditioner on it. Overall, I feel it’s an improvement. The edges are lighter and more distressed. These will blend in over time, of course, but I kind of like the look.

DECODED

Just received the Decoded MagSafe leather case a few hours ago.

My first impressions are the quality of the leather is second to none. I’m not picking up a strong leather scent, kind of disappointing. Otherwise the quality is great.

The fitment is incredible the lip is actually slightly more raised than Apples. The down side to that is that it makes an already big phone feel even bigger (12PM). It surprising feels pretty grippy out of the box as well. The buttons are NOT as nice as the apple leather case for those who may be wondering. I really do like that it protects the bottom of the phone and for those who complain about your pinky’s this case will be right up your ally.

Overall very nice case with amazing quality and details. I just wish it wasn’t so dark right of the box. I can see this case turning black in no time. My main hope was to find an alternative for the saddle brown leather case, if this case was a shade lighter I’m sure it would be the one

Anyone have any suggestions on how to clean a California Poppy case? I know the normal wear and tear can't be cleaned, but my daughter was coloring with blue crayon on our kitchen counter a couple nights ago and left some crayon shavings. I put my phone down and it left some blue smudges on the case. I've tried hand soap, detergent, and magic eraser, no luck!
Only thing I can think of is leather cleaner. It could work.

Yea... This thread finally got to me. I swapped my apple black silicone case for a saddle brown leather case for my iPhone XS.
After looking through this thread a lot it was unavoidable :D
Will be updating this post with the same lighting as in the pictures below. To show you how it will patina. Im not going to use any magic eraser or oils and stuff.
Just my hands!
