I think it’s safe to say there’s enough documented cases to say that this version of SB just does not age in the beautiful way the previous models did. The beat looking patina have come from those the tried to force it.Just got the Saddle Brown case for my new iPhone 12 and am trying to get the gist of what's been called out in this thread.
Is it a certainty that the Saddle Brown case for the iPhone 12 will not build up the cool patina that it did for my iPhone X because of some coating? In order to get that 6-months-in feeling do I need to ditch the Apple leather case and buy another brand?
From what I’ve seen documented the coating and the squared off edges seem to be a factor. Because even decoded and Grams28 leather which are higher quality appear to be developing a patina similar to apples leather. Although the third party cases definitely fit, feel, and look better in my opinionJust got the Saddle Brown case for my new iPhone 12 and am trying to get the gist of what's been called out in this thread.

Just know that the edges will age/patina much quicker than the back and sides.Just got the Saddle Brown case for my new iPhone 12 and am trying to get the gist of what's been called out in this thread.

This is why I use the black leather case.
The edges will be dark but the rest of case will still be much lighter![]()
Thanks.
So if in my usecase my iPhone X Saddle Brown had a patina that looked like this photo (the one on the right) after 3 months of constant use, should I expect the same patina after 3 months with my iPhone 12?
If you flip through previous pages in this thread you’ll see photos and videos of how saddle brown is aging, not a good lookThe edges will be dark but the rest of case will still be much lighter

Yeah, black leather case.Thank you both. So is there a Saddle Brown case from a third party that just looks like the patina I like from the get-go and stays that way? I am not into the whole patina process to be honest, and when SB gets too used it looks almost black.
Is there a really good iPhone 12 case that comes out of the box with nice patina and just stays that way for years? Doesn't even have to be real leather. I just like the look of it.
Or if you want to go with brown, I’ve seen people post decoded brown leather case which has gotten good reviews hereYeah, black leather case.![]()
You may want to look at the Bullstrap bourbon colored case.Is there a really good iPhone 12 case that comes out of the box with nice patina and just stays that way for years? Doesn't even have to be real leather. I just like the look of it.
Well, if it does not patina with daily use, then it ain’t leather…….Or if you want to go with brown, I’ve seen people post decoded brown leather case which has gotten good reviews hereView attachment 1743664
I wouldn’t know since I don’t own one, I’m going based off others posts and don’t think they’ve owned them enough time to see a patina. So time will tellWell, if it does not patina with daily use, then it ain’t leather…….
Do you keep two cards in the back pocket, or the front?
I bought the nomad rugged case for airpods and I am very surprised by the workmanship. I am thinking of buying the iphone version as well. I appreciate protection and quality, do you recommend this nomad rugged case or the bullstrap after all?
Sounds good! And how is the pressure on youre finger/pinky? Becaus the edges are made from plastic right? I currently have the Mous Contour case, with leather but plastic around the edgesI personally like the nomad case. It's not leather all around and I actually like that about it. I wasn't sure at first but soon changed my mind. Very nicely made and to look at. Granted the buttons are stiff but I gave them some flex with the phone out of the case and they seem better. They may loosen further over time.
I like this case so much I'd happily get the brown just to see it subtly patina over time.
The openings on the bottom are very sharp and turned out to be a dealbreaker for me. YMMV.Sounds good! And how is the pressure on youre finger/pinky? Becaus the edges are made from plastic right? I currently have the Mous Contour case, with leather but plastic around the edges

Surprisingly I have not seen any product red case updates, if anyone has had one for a few months it’d be great if you posted some photos !Question for iPhone 12 case owners:
Does the Product Red leather case suffer from the same patina issues as the Saddle Brown? Will the Product Red leather turn burgundy like its iPhone X predecessor or will it develop the stained/uneven edges like the Saddle does?
I actually kinda like how that BB is aging, I’m sure given more time it would get a more even patinaGot my leather case a couple days after they came out. Pic is this morning, next to brand new Decoded leather case that will be replacing it.
