I have both the black and saddle brown Apple leather cases. The saddle brown one smells and feels a lot better than the black. Any idea why?

I’ve seen so much variation in the quality of some of the cases I’ve bought/seen. Some “pebbly” like and feels cheaper some very smooth and smells like leather. My previous saddle brown was pebbly while this one is completely smooth like my other black one and in opinion nicer than the one I had before.

Wish Apple would make a leather wallet case like say, .... Nomad / Sena / 12 south - like this one:
I usually dont like wallet cases, but that looks really nice. When the new phones come out I'll have to grab one of those.

This thread convinced me to get a saddle brown case. Couldn’t be happier! 6 days in and the sides are darkening nicely. The back is slightly darker too.

My midnight blue case now. It looks black unless I’m in the sunlight
That's how mine looks as well. Yours, however, is in much better shape. Mine has taken a beating. I've never dropped a phone more than I have my X. Luckily the phone itself has always come out unscathed.

So I ended up buying the saddle brown and product red. Not sure which I’ll keep. The saddle seems smooth and the red has like more rough leather like feel. Is that normal? Is there a way to check if actual legitimate Apple products? Thanks

If you bought it from an Apple store, it's authentic. They're made from leather so the feel will differ from case to case.

All post so can see what I mean by the feel different. You can kind of see it. But I actually didn’t buy from Apple store.

Hard to tell from a misaligned picture but I have had leather cases from the Apple store that look like both of those. If you wanted authentic, you should have just bought from the Apple store. Either which way, leather come from a formerly alive animal so the leather types will vary from case to case.

The third leather case I’ve had for my 6S Plus. A Midnight Blue and two Saddle Browns. This one’s been on the go since February. Would have continued with the previous one, but wound up getting a horrible grease patch on it, so it had to go in the bin and start over again. I like seeing the patina form gradually. Quite satisfying.

Anyone have product red leather photos? After it’s been used. Curious how it turns out. And if it’s not that great any suggestions on how to keep it looking nice? Specifically this colour. Thanks! But I’ll post mine after awhile. It’s only been like two days.

After a while, it’s a nice patina but the leather case feels grimy and dirty. What do you guys use to clean the Apple leather case?

Microfiber cloth with water or those leather cleaning/conditioning wipes that are normally used on leather sofas/car interiors?

I use nothing.

The wallet stays in the pocket unless I’m buying something or have to show my ID somewhere.

The iPhone on the other hand, is constantly taken out of the pocket for various things, laid down on tables and other random surfaces. Just yesterday, it was sitting on my garage floor while I watched a YouTube video on how to change a car part.

I’d say this is way different than comparing to a wallet. Do you not clean your family room leather sofa or car leather?

Then wipe it down w a leather wipe.
