Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

My new iPhone 12 Pro Max - Decoded Tan Brown Case, Freshly arrived this morning.

Quick review:
- The leather smells really good
- Feels like a dried leather and solid
- The fit is tight, the grip is good
- Has a decent lip all around the edge so its safe to put the phone face down (already installed a spigen tempered glass)
- The case is firm unlike the apple leather case that can deattach so easily

The case is a dark brown out of the box. Closer to dark maroon..

Anyone have any luck replacing a leather case that looks like this? I’ve had the Apple Leather cases for years, this is the first one to look terrible like this after use. I’ve had it since release day so I don’t know what they will say if I ask to replace it. It’s not a huge deal to me, but it’s an expensive case to end up looking like this.

Anyone try the magsafe version of Anson Calder cases? Looks like they were able to retain the rounded edges and i know their leather is very high quality on other products. Open bottom too..

I’m not happy with the patina of my saddlebrown Apple case so got a Wiiuka case for my white iPhone 12. It was delivered today and so far I‘m more than happy with it. I hope it ages better than the Apple case.

What did you apply to the case? If it changed that much in 24 hours without some sort of leather balm then that case is going to look super nasty in a couple months. Leather should not change that much in 24 hours.

Didn‘t apply anything. It probably changed that much because I‘m using a lot of hand cream.

You know you’re not supposed to moisturize with shoe polish, right?

went pretty hard to my case with sandpaper and the magic sponge and some sunbathing. Then I finished it with shine & nourish cream. The effect is very extreme and I wonder what you think of it. The case on the right is the end result.

After about a week in the Parkfield case I'm back in black(/blue). It's crazy just how much better Apple's case feels as far as fit goes, though I'd be okay with them going a bit thicker on the leather. Doesn't matter much though since I keep the wallet attached when it's not on the magnetic mount on my desk here at the office.
