thank you.

but to add: i used it for 4 months and only the sides were getting completely dark so i decided to patina it by myself with just alcohol and tissues in a few hours only, i was actually 100% expecting to completely ruin the case (as i never tried this before and i was even okay with destroying it in the worst case scenario) considering how i read by some people here who said that it didn’t work for them, but for me it worked out quite okay somehow?
(for anyone out there, just be cautious if u try it by yourselves!)

i used the magsafe charger a few times in the beginning but i see it more as a gimmick in my case tbh. but i absolutely love magsafe for attaching my phone to my fridge lol.
What would you advise to be cautious about for 1 and 2 what are your thoughts about having a skin given the magnets may attach debris where if we dropped it, in the off chance theres something there between the case and the phone etc. it would shatter? Lol

i debated getting a skin fir this mini but once i jacked the install hated it and plan to just do the case but not too sure lol

be sure you want to go the road of doing the patina by yourself first, be aware of the risk of potentially ruining it (it normally shouldn’t) - if you are ready for it, try rubbing alcohol gently in the beginning and rub it a little bit with tissues, look how it’s aging, where the spots are where you have to apply a bit more etc.
i honestly did it in a few hours and let it relax in the meantime; i really expected the case to end badly but it worked out rather well somehow

what made me do it by myself is the fact that i used my case for ~ 4 months and only the sides were going darker which looked kinda bad to me (similar to other pictures posted here and elsewhere) so i was like it can’t get any worse and decided to it by myself lol

honestly it depends, i prefer cases to a skin but if you don’t like the way it ages this year there are also other leather cases. i tried a leather one for the first time and i love how it feels compared to other cases.
but if you don’t want to spend too much and don’t care about leather cases, just get a thin case by spigen or something.

My latest saddle brown case for 12 Pro Max.

It doesn’t look bad but definitely not as nice as previous years.

And yes I want that forest green back!

Nice and ill see how to commit. Would any alcohol do? Also by skin i meant the combo of skin and case. Given the whole magsafe thing maybe picking up debris easier for scratches and or sandwhich between phone and case and in the event of a drop a super rare crack 😂

Anyone have any luck replacing a leather case that looks like this? I’ve had the Apple Leather cases for years, this is the first one to look terrible like this after use. I’ve had it since release day so I don’t know what they will say if I ask to replace it. It’s not a huge deal to me, but it’s an expensive case to end up looking like this.

Yeah no. You trashed it. You probably use alcohol stuff on it. The wear pattern is not even typical of your hand. LOL

That may be it, maybe it was an alcohol based cleaner at one time that damaged it. The wear pattern however is exactly typical of my hand. AND rest in the middle is where the MagSafe charger has worn it off

Also though I have used the same cleaner on my other leather cases in the past and those have easily lasted a year

Won’t hurt to try with Apple. They may replace it.

Sure…….why is the center of case worn out (by MagSafe per you) yet i barely see the ring pattern of the charger?

Any alcohol based cleaners will destroy ANY leather cases. If it does not, then it ain’t leather…you got scammed!

Maybe it’s not the MagSafe. Maybe it is more my finger from holding it.

If I got scammed it was by a Apple, I ordered this with my iPhone

The cleaner I used had no alcohol, I double checked. I believe I be likely wiped it down with something like a Clorox wipe though in the past. So that may be the cause. I probably never did that with my older cases.

Thanks

Did you use the phone right after using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer?

Does anyone happen to have a pictures of their woolnut case? I remember seeing some on this thread a while back. Just curious on patina

Clorox or any hand sanitizer will do it. Leather (apple or not) and those harsh chemicals don’t mix.
I use Clorox wipes on my leather case all the time, i don’t scrub the crap out it when using them, but after 4 months of use it’s not dried out or damaged my leather case at all, if anything it’s giving the leather a nice softer feel, it’s actually one of the nicest feeling Apple leather cases that I’ve had...

Personally, I love the Saddle Brown Leather case for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Coming from an iPhone 6S, I think the new Saddle Brown case is the best version Apple has made. I know this isn’t the popular opinion!

I’m a huge fan of the nice polished metal buttons for the volume rocker and Power. Such a breeze to press compared to the 6S case without these metal buttons.

As for the leather itself, it feels more substantial (probably due to MagSafe) and I like the coating on the leather. Just feels more durable and premium to me than the 6S. Also, I love how the bottom of the case is fully covered, finally! The patina will be interesting to see but I’m sure it will age like a fine wine. We shall see.

As for the feel, i have a saddle brown and the blue coloured Apple leather cases, I’ve had leather cases since the 6s and out of all, the leather for the 12 series iPhones feel so much better,
I liked the way the older saddle brown cases darkened but they didn’t feel as nice, well i don’t try to artificially age them, so maybe that causes a difference to the feel...

Apple should replace this to spare themselves the embarrassment.

For those who have the magsafe Decoded case: is the magsafe strength comparable to Apple's? I have the magsafe wallet that I would want to use with it but just wanted to see if the magnet strength is decent enough to hold it. Thanks!

I don’t have any MagSafe accessories, but I tested using a strong magnet which stuck to the case. As far as i could tell, it seemed similar between the apple case and decoded case. It hopefully someone else can chime in, as I’m not sure how well/valid my test was.
