I agree. The only problem for me is that the bottom is exposed like the old Apple cases. If they made the case closed all the way around, I'd purchase in a heartbeat.
Looks like the next best thing here is the Decoded, it looks like they got ride of most of the hideous branding. i cant find anything else comparable.

What are everyone's thoughts on Nomad vs Bullstrap? From the reading I have done, it seems Nomad and Bullstrap are the top 2 choices. I'm planning to get the 13 Pro Max when it releases, and would like to get a leather case for this one. I was initially leaning heavily toward the Nomad before I saw someone mention Bullstrap on another site. Specifically, I would be looking at the Nomad Modern Leather Case in Rustic Brown (Natural seems too light, even after aging) or the standard Sienna Bullstrap (non Portfolio). I am curious about the Bullstrap Ocean color, but haven't seen anything about how it ages.

As an FYI, I tend to not upgrade often, and I don't usually swap cases. I am coming from an iphone 7+ with an Otterbox Commuter. I've had both the phone and case since the 7+ was first released in 2016.

I am looking for not only aging/patina opinions, but also durability of the case and protection capabilities (including the camera bump) of each.

They both seem to have good quality leather, but Bullstrap might be a little better? Nomad specifies Horween leather, 10ft drop protection, with a TPE bumper and closed bottom. Bullstrap doesn't really specify anything except its lifetime warranty, and it has the open bottom. They both seem to age/patina really well (although I am not one that is going to be treating it with leather conditioner often, if ever). Nomad has leather just on the back, with rubber/plastic sides, and Bullstrap is all leather. Both have MagSafe built in, how is the magnet strength in each?

One big difference right now specifically is that Nomad says they will start shipping their cases next week, so I could have it by the time I get the new phone, whereas Bullstrap says they are backordered already and won't ship until November 1.

I have both, and imo I prefer the Nomad, especially if this case is going to be a daily for years. I would say they are both equal on leather quality. The Bullstrap doesn't offer much, if any, protection against drops, but does look nicer. The Nomad's buttons aren't the greatest, but I think the fit and finish is definitely better than Bullstrap. I have yet to have to send any of my 4 Nomad cases back with issues, and I've had 7 replacements from Bullstrap. I've used Bullstrap cases for about 4 years, and the quality, to me, has gone downhill over the years. One last thing to consider, there's been quite a few people having issues with Bullstrap's cases not fully covering the camera lenses on the 12 PM, and the 13 PM's are even bigger. Just my 2¢.

My midnight cases arrived today, it appears that apple is using the same coating as before. Thinking of picking a golden brown still a bit skeptical since reminds more of Californian poppy. Can someone share photos if they have one?

On the subject of open bottom cases. Something to be aware of for any potential Nomad purchasers who still, like me, use one of the old aluminium slab iPhone docks - the underside of the Nomad case is so deep that it’s incompatible with the dock. The bulk of the case prevents the phone docking with the lighting nipple. I know most won’t be affected by this but nevertheless it might be a problem for some.

Picked up a Midnight case in addition to my Sequoia Green one, and I can’t decide what color it really is. Is it black? Is it gray? Is it a very dark blue? Could be any of those in certain lighting conditions.

edit: this is definitely a dark, dull blue in brighter light, charcoal-ish gray in a medium light, and black in darker lighting.
