Ended up ordering a ESR in brown. It was the only brown leather in stock that is similar to the saddle brown apple case but also still has metal bittons and magsafe that is in stock.

My silicone case got delayed and won't show up until a few days after the phone, so I picked up a sequoia green leather case today at the apple store. If anyone's interested how it compares to the forest green XS case, it has less of a blue tint.

Is anyone considering the new Moment leather cases? I’m considering the Cognac one. I have the Apple saddle brown for my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and was going to go with the new Apple iPhone 13 that’s most similar in colour, but am now concerned it’ll not patina well based on the iPhone 12 changes to the case.

Anyone thinking or hoping that this year’s “Midnight” leather case would be darker than last year’s black is going to be disappointed. Here is my Midnight case (with last year’s back MagSafe wallet on it) and the Sequoia Green leather case. Indirect indoor lighting. It’s a very subtle dark blue, and it’s undeniable. I’m honestly quite obsessed with the color of it, in a good way. I think Midnight is about as fitting as a name has ever been.
I don’t want to be overly hopeful either, but I’m seeing wear/marks on both of these cases from only a bit of fooling around with the MagSafe charger and wallet. That makes me hopeful that the leather will wear a bit different this year. I never saw marks on the Saddle Brown case except for blacking around the edges after a month of use. Any wear/marks from MagSafe accessories never showed up on that case.

Well that is disappointing. That is what I ordered. If I wanted a dark shade of blue then I would have ordered one from somewhere else. I wanted black. My case arrives Wed and I will be sending it right back. Thanks for the pics.
Wow that does have a pretty obvious blue shade to it. I was expecting black. How do they get rid of that? I’d be interested to see the midnight silicone next to the dark blue silicone offering. Doesn’t make sense to have two dark blue.
Do you know if these are as thin as the official apple leather case?

Thanks for this. I’m going to order the black one. The leather doesn’t look like the painted on crap that apple seems to be using in order to obtain certain shades. I want something that will age like a nice wallet and get softer and grippier over time. Leather should age and look better not worse

The small symbol in the middle was definitely better for sure but this isn’t too bad especially if the quality is there. The nomad is nice too but the sides are just too bulky. Wish they had a thin version of their case
I’ve sent Nomad several emails asking if they’ve considered switching back to an entirely leather covered case. I get the usual canned response similar to, we’ll forward this to our developmental department for consideration. Thanks for contacting Nomad goods. While I really like their cases, the tpu sides are a bit to bulky at times.
Imo this defeats the purpose of leather cases. I want an all over leather case. While the Nomad leather is nice, the plastic sides just don't do it for me. Good protection for those who need it but ... I need me all leather.
Yeah I hate tpu sides and buttons. It makes the case feel cheap
Just placed an order for the decoded black case plus the MagSafe wallet and an Apple Watch thin strap. Fingers crossed it is worth the cost
I posted this in another thread as well but here’s a comparison of the 12 Pro Max black leather with some of the new leather cases for 13 Pro Max. The midnight is definitely more indigo but it’s really nicely done. The green tho, is stunning. All of them seem to have a much improved build quality and design for the camera ring. (And check out the nice grain on the green 😍).

Midnight looks black unless you see it next to black, I got mine Friday. The picture you are responding to is very bright. Hence the black even looking Charcoal in that image so keep that in mind, and hence people seeing it thinking it is black online. If you are looking for dark blue with the Midnight case, you'll be very disappointed - it simply looks black in normal lighting, with a coolness at best. The old case was a more true black, but Midnight just looks like black that went through some kind of cool-toned slider at worst.
I feel like people are blowing the tone thing way out of proportion.
It's about as black as normal black leather, and you're calling it black too despite admitting it technically might not ring as true black in bright lightning either - that is the official "black" people are used to from Apple. Literally called "Black" on the store page.
If people are gonna call the "Black" case black even though you could pick at it being charcoal in bright images, then they certainly should know that Midnight is similarly in the black zone, not navy or some other color under any of the same conditions they accepted the previous "Black" as being a black color. If you want the black case this year, Midnight is absolutely sufficient if you were fine with black before.
Wow I thought the second case was the California Poppy but realised its actually the new Golden Brown😂
Yeah... it is very orange, doesn't really look even tan from all the pics online - some said it looks like an artificial version of the Timberland boots tan. God I hope these age better than last time. My old Napa leather iPhone cases aged so nicely in Saddle Brown. The 12 cases with their new leather just turned black on edges and the rest mildy dirty. No lovely gradient patina... was super disappointing.
WTF? It looks black unless you see it next to black? Then it isn't black. Apple is falsely showing it as black on their website, too. Click on the picture there to make it larger...it is black. Pictures of the actual case next to last years black case show that it is NOT black.
This is not an overblown observation, it is a fact.
