Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

This definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I tried a little something with my iPhone 13 Pro Nomad case (Rustic Brown color). Took an alcohol wipe and vigorously rubbed off what I presume to be the color/dye off the Horween leather. The result is (to me) a nicely aged, raw-looking and lighter color. I also swapped out my original Graphite iPhone for a Sierra Blue which I think looks superb with this new leather color.

Looks great. Would you mind posting some pictures of how the front of the case looks with the phone in it? I have the same phone and in doubt between getting this Nomad case or the one from Decoded. How much bulk does this case add? I have always used Caudabe Sheath cases which were a golden combo of protection and bulk (or lack thereof) so I'd like to know how the Nomad case compares.

Yeah, I’m very happy with the fit of the Decoded and the quality of the leather. I see they now have navy as a colour, which wasn’t an option when I ordered the brown last week.

How is the protection offered by the Decoded case?

13 Pro Golden Brown, 2 Days of use. I really really hope it is better than the 12 Pro leather cases

Midnight leather after six days. It's already got some small nicks and a slight imprint from the MagSafe but that typically fades by late morning. I couldn't be more happy with it after being just kinda okay with last year's leather. It looked great but felt a little off.

When I bought 12 mini saddle brown case and wanted to build natural patina (just like with my case for X), but then I've read all bad experiences with new one, and here is what I've done: I took kiwi brown nubuck renovator spray and apply it on my new case (first I treated it with Brooks Proofide, with no visual effect). Then I let it dry, and then polished case with dry cotton cloth and apply very little argan oil (for bit of shine). Luckily, it turned out excellent, just like I wanted! Heres couple of images, daylight.

How is the protection offered by the Decoded case?

I have one for the 13 Pro and I think it might be as protective or slightly more than the Apple Case. It has a tighter fit and the lip around the screen is much deeper as well.

That’s an insane variability! My midnight is super smooth and also close to black!

I like them smoother. They all get more grippy with use.

Such a great color case...this is my favorite of the leather offerings for the 13. It reminds me of Gucci green.

is the Best Buy platinum leather case better leather quality than apples? I don’t really mind MagSafe or not. I usually like bullstrap, but they’re not shipping till 11/01/2021. Debating if I should go with platinum or apples.

Keep in mind, Apple's expose the front of the bands around the sides. Wasn't for me, so I went with Nomad.

Does anyone’s iPhone 13 leather case have an off center lightning port cutout? I tried another leather case and same issue. Maybe it’s batches? I doubt it’s the physical phone.

I’ll try and get a picture but to give you an idea…you can see half of the left screw and none of the right when looking at the lightning port with case on.

It doesn’t appear to be a big deal with the stock charger cable, but I imagine it could be with other chargers.

Generally the official cases are spot on when it comes to cutouts. Are you sure it’s just not how it’s supposed to be?

I see a sliver of the left screw and around 1/3 of the right screw on mine.

From this photo it really seems like Midnight is somewhere halfway between Black and the old Midnight Blue leather case?

Picked up the Dark Cherry wallet to go with the Midnight leather case. I didn’t like the look of the blue wallet with the midnight case. For now, I think this is the combo for me.

A few pics of my old cases from X onwards. I think apple has dropped the ball on 12 pro leather cases. It looks significantly different than the previous ones. I'll miss the saddle brown colour that I loved since the beginning. This year's colour choices seems extremely weird.

Yeah wth happened with the 12 leather cases! Mine looks the same. I'm not sure if any conditioning could have saved the edges from wearing like that. Guess we'll find out how the 13 wears.

No such choice here, it’s basically purchase and you get what you get. We can buy and return if not happy, but I’m sure after 3 or 4 returns they’ll get the shots and say no more.
